Paul Buckner who is one of the Church Safety Guys, contacted me about a situation that happened at a church near him that he was consulting with. This is a a great example of how fast something can go so wrong and fortunately for this church there was no loss of life. As we unpack this incident there are a lot of other things within this that are discussed and I am sure that it could go even deeper in your own training.

A suggestion regarding a podcast about mistakes made and lessons learned was given recently. I am really excited about this and as I have reached out to several security leaders to see about them taking some time to share some of those things, it just confirms what I have been told at our seminars as well, that there are people out there that really want to know these things. This is far bigger than I thought it was going to be so it looks like this is going to be an ongoing off and on series for a while.

Paul has an extensive background in a lot of different areas, but what I think is most impressive is the heart for service that he has for the safety ministry in churches. There are very few safety and security leaders around the country that I would consider to be a standard for others to glean from, but after talking to Paul today he is definitely among those leaders. The topic today is Emergency Action Plans. I hope that this two part conversation will help you get going in developing one or dust off and update the one you have. My guest this week is Tara Koetter. I have wanted to have someone on regarding domestic violence and the domestic spillover in our churches. Tara has been involved in church security for many years and leads the team at her church. She has felt that God has been leading her to speak more openly about this subject. We know that during this time with Covid that domestic violence has risen. It is not unrealistic that as churches begin to open back up, that there is the potential for an increase of domestic spillover to our churches. CV Ministries Link Google Review Link
