While women are entering medical school at higher rates than ever, the number of practicing women physicians and women in leadership positions in medicine has not risen, and in some instances, has declined. Furthermore, we as a medical community at large continue to hold harmful schemas of what it means to be a woman in medicine, which can restrict women trainees' ultimate career goals (ie tropes of "I cannot be a surgeon and a good mother," be a good physician and pursue projects outside of medicine, etc.). These schemas contribute to women physician burnout and may even impact the overall attrition rate of women in medicine - a phenomenon referred to as the leaky pipeline. "Doctor and ____ : Multidimensional Women in Medicine" is a podcast that aims to combat these fractures in the leaky pipeline by highlighting the amazing work women in medicine are doing while simultaneously empowering trainees and peers listening in. Through personal experiences through American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) and Medical Women's International Association (MWIA), I have been able to meet incredible mentors who have shared work they are passionate about. These interactions have been both inspiring and empowering, leaving me to believe I can do anything I set my mind to as a woman in medicine. We hope broadcasting these conversations via podcast will serve to empower trainees who may be unable to attend AMWA or MWIA conferences. We also hope it will serve to strengthen the network of women in medicine. Team: Joanna Georgakas, Kristina McAteer, and Athena Sampalis
