This time around, we have an experimental format, featuring the first episode of a brand-new podcast launching next week, Drug Story. I rarely feature episodes from other shows, but I think this one is well worth your time. It changed how I think about allergies, especially as someone who carries an EpiPen and has wondered: why on earth have food allergies seemed to skyrocket in the last few decades?Drug Story is a podcast that tells the story of the disease business, one drug at a time. Each episode explores one disease and one drug, and it kicks off with EpiPen and food allergies. A quick teaser: What if I told you that a well-meaning medical recommendation may have caused millions of kids to develop food allergies?Make sure to subscribe to Drug Story on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can also simply go to DrugStory.co and learn more. The host is Thomas Goetz. He is a senior impact fellow at the University of California Berkeley School of Public Health, and much earlier, Thomas was the executive editor at WIRED, which he led to a dozen National Magazine Awards from 2001 to 2013.      Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. This episode of Fertility Docs Uncensored tackles one of the most common fertility questions patients ask: When should I seek care for infertility? We answer key questions including: When do I need to see a reproductive endocrinologist? In general, patients under 35 should seek fertility care after one year of unprotected intercourse without conception, while patients age 35 and older should seek care after six months. What conditions should prompt earlier evaluation by a fertility specialist? These include irregular menstrual cycles, blocked fallopian tubes, male factor infertility, such as low sperm count, and medical conditions like autoimmune disease or endometriosis, all of which may have an impact on infertility. We also discuss when to see a fertility doctor if additional factors are involved, such as the need for donor eggs, donor sperm, or a gestational carrier. These situations vary in complexity, with gestational carrier arrangements typically requiring earlier and more specialized planning, while donor eggs or sperm may be more straightforward. This episode helps patients understand when waiting is reasonable—and when seeing a fertility specialist sooner rather than later can make a critical difference.

You can have liver damage for decades without any signs of liver failure. Spotting these 7 early signs of liver disease could save your life. Find out about the signs your liver is dying so you can act before it's too late.0:00 Introduction: 7 signs your liver is dying0:32 The real cause of liver damage 1:14 7 liver dying symptoms3:05 Right shoulder pain4:06 Itchy skin and liver disease 5:16 Swollen abdomen and liver problems6:57 Reversing liver damage 8:22 How to improve liver health quickly Your liver is the hardest-working organ in your body, and the only major organ that can completely regenerate. Here are 7 liver warning signs that may indicate liver damage before the issue becomes too severe.1. Waking up between 2 and 3 a.m. A dysfunctional liver causes excessive blood sugar swings at night. A steep drop in blood sugar while you're sleeping spikes adrenaline, which will wake you up.2. Right shoulder painWhen the liver is damaged, bile production slows down, leading to sluggish and clogged bile ducts. This can cause referred pain in the right shoulder. 3. Bruise easilyThe liver makes clotting factors, so if it's damaged, you may find that you bruise more easily. 4. ItchingItching at night, particularly on the bottom of the feet and other parts of the body, can be caused by excess bile that backs up in the liver. 5. Low tolerance to alcoholPeople with liver problems can not efficiently break down alcohol, which causes more toxicity in the body.6. Fat belly/skinny legs A protruding belly is usually caused by an advanced form of liver damage called ascites, where fluid begins to build up in the abdomen. This is often associated with legs that are skinny due to muscle loss. 7. Brain irritationWhen the liver is damaged, you can't effectively break down protein, which causes a backup of ammonia. This affects cognitive function and personality, leading to irritability, temper issues, brain fog, and difficulty focusing. You can go from a severely damaged liver to a healthy liver within weeks by avoiding hidden sugars in your diet!Try these 7 tips to improve liver health and reverse liver damage:1. Stop snacking2. Eliminate sugar, starch, and seed oils 3. Eat more high-quality meat and vegetables4. Go to sleep earlier5. Choose organic foods6. Consume cruciferous vegetables7. In this powerful conversation, I'm joined by Dr. Chad Zawitz, a physician who spent over two decades delivering frontline medical care inside one of the largest urban jail systems in the country. Dr. Zawitz pulls back the curtain on carceral healthcare, explaining the critical differences between jail and prison, the constitutional right to medical care for incarcerated individuals, and why many patients actually experience better measurable health outcomes while locked up.We spend significant time unpacking the evolution of HIV treatment, from the early days of fear and stigma to today's extraordinary advances, including long-acting injectable antivirals and the game-changing reality that people with undetectable viral loads cannot transmit HIV. Dr. Zawitz explains why, with proper access and adherence, HIV could be effectively eliminated within a single generation, without a cure or vaccine. This episode also explores stigma, language, trauma, addiction, and the power of treating people like human beings. From stories inside the jail to reflections on COVID, public health messaging, and medical ethics, this conversation is a reminder that healing doesn't begin with protocols, it begins with compassion. Episode Highlights[00:00] – Why HIV could be eliminated in one generation with the tools we already have[03:15] – Dr. Zawitz's path into correctional healthcare and why it matters[05:40] – Jail vs. prison: understanding the difference and why it impacts care[10:30] – The constitutional right to healthcare for incarcerated individuals[14:50] – How HIV care is delivered behind bars[18:30] – The evolution of HIV treatment: from AZT to modern long-acting injectables[22:55] – U = U explained: undetectable equals untransmittable[26:30] – The role of stigma, language, and bias in healthcare outcomes[35:55] – Treating patients as people: why simple kindness changes everything[43:00] – Why health markers often improve during incarceration[48:40] – COVID in jails: fear, access, vaccines, and media narratives[55:35] – “Tales from the jail”: surprising clinical lessons from real life[01:08:50] – Public health, vaccines, and the cost of polarization[01:17:45] – Lessons from Dallas Buyers Club and early HIV innovation Links & ResourcesSilver Biotics: bit.ly/3JnxyDD— 30% off with Code: BEAUTIFULLYBROKENLightPathLED: https://lightpathled.pxf.io/c/3438432/2059835/25794— Code: beautifullybrokenCathcBio https://www.catchbio.com/beautifullybroken— Code: beautifullybrokenStemRegn: https://www.stemregen.co/products/release?_ef_transaction_id=&affid=52&oid=1Beam Minerals: http://beamminerals.com/beautifullybroken— Code: BEAUTIFULLYBROKEN  CONNECT WITH FREDDIEWork with Me: https://www.beautifullybroken.world/biological-blueprintWebsite and Store: (http://www.beautifullybroken.world) Instagram: (https://www.instagram.com/beautifullybroken.world/) YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@freddiekimmel Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The discussion dives into the recent ACIP move on the hepatitis B shot at birth, how states like California may resist those changes, and the growing legal and constitutional battles around mandates and religious exemptions. Highlights: "My mission is to ensure that parents all over the world have access to objective, truthful, undoctored advice and informed consent on vaccines."   "A good pediatrician is one that listens to the parents… I'm here to serve you and help you in your journey, not to tell you what to do."    "We're vaccinating everyone for a disease that might infect one in 7 million kids."    "Doctors normalize reactions like encephalitis because they're happening so often. Police Shot by a Mass Murderer: She Survived and the City's Response Shocked Her. Special Episode. The phrase line of duty often feels abstract, until a single moment changes everything. For former Richmond, Virginia police officer Cheryl Ann Nici-O'Connell, that moment came in October of 1984, when a routine off-duty assignment turned into a life-altering ambush by a fugitive mass murderer. Look for The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. Now, decades later, her story is being shared in a special episode of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, available across Facebook, Instagram, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, and most major podcast platforms. It's not just as a story of survival, but as a powerful account of resilience, recovery, and a troubling response from the very city she served. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . An Ordinary Shift That Became a Nightmare At just 24 years old, Officer Cheryl Nici-O'Connell was working an off-duty uniformed job at the Richmond Marriott Hotel on a Friday night, hoping to earn some extra income. At the same time, law enforcement across the Richmond area was urgently searching for a suspect wanted in a triple murder and the attempted murder of a sheriff's deputy. Police Shot by a Mass Murderer: She Survived and the City's Response Shocked Her. Special Episode. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and other podcast platforms. Unknowingly, Nici-O'Connell came face-to-face with that very fugitive. “I was ambush attacked and shot in the head from three-to-five feet away by a total stranger,” she recalled. The gunman aimed directly at her temple, firing a .357 Magnum loaded with a .38-caliber round. The bullet entered her face, tore through her mouth, and lodged just an eighth of an inch from her carotid artery. Doctors did not expect her to survive the night. “It Looked Like Red Paint Was Being Poured Over Everything” The moments after the shooting are forever etched into her memory. “The next thing I know, I heard a loud explosion,” she said. “I looked toward Broad Street, and everything was blurry. It looked like someone was pouring red paint over a picture of Broad Street.” Police Shot by a Mass Murderer: She Survived and the City's Response Shocked Her. Special Episode. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Against all odds, she lived. Her survival, she says, was not hers alone. “I'm here to tell you if it was not for the support of the police officers I worked with, and also the Richmond community, I would not be here today.” That support, from fellow officers and everyday citizens, stood in stark contrast to what followed. The Aftermath: Survival Was Only the Beginning While Cheryl Nici-O'Connell fought through a long and painful recovery, she also faced what she describes as shocking treatment by city government after the shooting. In the podcast interview, she speaks candidly about the challenges that came not from the gunshot wound, but from navigating a system that failed to fully support a wounded officer. Police Shot by a Mass Murderer: She Survived and the City's Response Shocked Her. Special Episode. The special episode can be found on The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, on Apple podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and across most podcast platforms where listeners will find authentic law enforcement stories. Her attacker was eventually arrested, tried, and sentenced to multiple life terms. Yet the trauma never truly ended. In 2002, and nearly every year since, Nici-O'Connell has been required to relive the attack during parole hearings. “I wish I could forget,” she said quietly. Turning Pain Into Purpose Today, Cheryl Nici-O'Connell is retired from law enforcement but far from finished serving. She is actively involved with Richmond United for Law Enforcement, an organization founded on January 2, 2015, dedicated to bringing together law enforcement and the Metro Richmond and Tri-Cities communities of Virginia. Police Shot by a Mass Murderer: She Survived and the City's Response Shocked Her. Special Episode. The full podcast episode is streaming now on their website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Her story, shared through interviews, public speaking, and now this special podcast episode, stands as a reminder of the real human cost behind the badge, and the responsibility cities have to care for those who put their lives on the line. “I still work to help others,” she says, a testament to a resilience forged in unimaginable circumstances. A Story That Still Matters Cheryl Nici-O'Connell's journey is not just about surviving a bullet fired by a mass murderer. It is about accountability, compassion, and the long road officers walk after the headlines fade. Police Shot by a Mass Murderer: She Survived and the City's Response Shocked Her. Special Episode. Can you be lean and metabolically unfit? Can you be overweight and metabolically healthy? Most of the world's type 2 diabetics are lean. Weight is not the issue. It's a distraction from what actually matters: metabolic fitness. Dr. Betty Murray sits down with Dr. Beverly Yates ND to shatter the myths about metabolic health, weight, and diabetes, especially for women over 40. In this conversation, Dr. Yates reveals the silent signs of pre-diabetes most doctors miss, why the "eat less, exercise more" advice fails women after menopause, and the five steps of the Yates Protocol that helped women reverse type 2 diabetes after 25+ years, without deprivation or restriction. What We Cover: ●     Weight is not the issue, it's a symptom: Most type 2 diabetics worldwide are lean (not overweight), you can be lean and metabolically unfit OR overweight and metabolically healthy, doctors blame weight instead of looking at actual metabolic markers ●     The silent signs of pre-diabetes ●     Objective markers that actually matter: Hemoglobin A1C, fasting blood sugar, fasting insulin, C-peptide ●     Why BMI is useless ●     Menopause changes everything metabolically: Loss of estrogen = increased visceral fat + insulin resistance (even with same diet/exercise), women have more microvascular disease than men, hot flashes linked to hyperdensities in brain (vascular damage) ●     Why lean people don't get diagnosed: Doctors assume "you're skinny, you're fine" without checking A1C/fasting insulin/C-peptide, visceral fat can be invisible (not always "beer belly"), third of teenagers now have pre-diabetes ●     The taste bud reset: Taste buds turn over every 10-14 days, they talk to brain about calories, diet sodas/artificial sweeteners trick brain → causes snacking 1-1.5 hours later PLUS, The 5 Steps of the Yates Protocol: (1) Nutrition, (2) Meal timing, (3) Stress management, (4) Sleep, (5) Exercise with emphasis on strength training. Are medical students and young doctors really becoming better clinicians — or just better prompt engineers with stethoscopes? In this episode of Crackin' Backs, we go deep with Dr. Ti Pence to unpack AI in healthcare, how it's reshaping medical training, clinical decision-making, ethical responsibility, bias, and what the next decade of medicine might look like. From daily AI use in study and documentation to hospitals quietly embedding tools into clinics, we ask the hard questions:What happens when medical training prioritizes AI fluency over clinical judgment? How can future physicians use AI to augment — not override — human expertise?Where does bias pose the greatest risk in real-world medicine?Who should be held accountable if AI harms a patient? And what does an ideal AI-powered healthcare system look like by 2030?Whether you're a clinician, medical student, health professional, patient advocate, or curious about the future of medicine and technology, this episode challenges assumptions and shows the human side of AI in health care.About Our Guest — Dr. Ti PenceDr. Ti Pence, DC is a clinician, healthcare strategist, and thought leader at the intersection of artificial intelligence, clinical judgment, and medical education. With advanced training in healthcare administration and cutting-edge insight into how AI tools are shaping practice, Dr. Pence explores the balance between technology and human expertise — especially in how doctors are trained, evaluated, and held accountable today. He's been featured talking about AI's impact on manual therapy, chiropractic education, and the future of clinical skills — challenging traditional norms and offering practical, big-picture insight into where medicine is headed next. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why AI is already embedded in how medical students study, write notes, and plan care One real example where AI impressed — and one where it missed the mark How bias in healthcare data can harm real lives What professionalism with AI should actually look like The “rules of engagement” every future physician should follow A hopeful — and a cautionary — vision of medicine in 2030Whether you're preparing for med school, navigating clinical practice, or just curious about AI + human judgment, this episode makes complex ideas feel understandable and urgent.Listen, Subscribe & ShareAvailable on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, and wherever you get your podcasts. If this episode made you think differently about medicine and AI, please subscribe, rate, and leave a review — it helps other curious minds discover the show.We are two sports chiropractors, seeking knowledge from some of the best resources in the world of health. Christie explains how for-profit entities now control seventy-eight percent of hospices, leading to worse patient care and deep moral injury for clinicians. The discussion explores the four paths physicians can take to reclaim agency: working within the system with boundaries, building alternatives like direct primary care, organizing through unions, or planning a strategic exit. Christie emphasizes that while the system is broken, physicians still have the power to make conscious choices about how they engage with it. Learn how to move from passive demoralization to active, values-driven leadership in your medical career. Our presenting sponsor is Microsoft Dragon Copilot. Third Day in the Octave of Christmas19 And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.Hoc autem dixit significans qua morte clarificaturus esset Deum. Et cum hoc dixisset, dicit ei : Sequere me. 20 Peter turning about, saw that disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said: Lord, who is he that shall betray thee?Conversus Petrus vidit illum discipulum, quem diligebat Jesus, sequentem, qui et recubuit in coena super pectus ejus, et dixit : Domine, quis est qui tradet te? 21 Him therefore when Peter had seen, he saith to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do?Hunc ergo cum vidisset Petrus, dixit Jesu : Domine, hic autem quid? 22 Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? follow thou me.Dicit ei Jesus : Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te? tu me sequere. 23 This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus did not say to him: He should not die; but, So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee?Exiit ergo sermo iste inter fratres quia discipulus ille non moritur. Et non dixit ei Jesus : Non moritur, sed : Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te? 24 This is that disciple who giveth testimony of these things, and hath written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.Hic est discipulus ille qui testimonium perhibet de his, et scripsit haec : et scimus quia verum est testimonium ejus.St John is the virgin Apostle, crowned with the halo of those who knew how to conquer their flesh; for this reason, he became "the disciple whom Jesus loved." Thanks to his angelic purity, he imbibed that wholesome wisdom of which that Epistle of which the Mass speaks and which has given to him the halo of the Doctors. Finally he received the halo of the Martyrs, since he barely escaped a violent death. It is to St John, who wrote a Gospel, three Epistles, and the Apocalypse, that we owe the most beautiful pages on the Divinity on the Word made flesh, and it is for this reason that the virgin Apostle is symbolised by the eagle. His name is mentioned with the other Apostles' names in the Canon of the Mass. St John the Evangelist departed this life at Ephesus. (101).

Episode Description You trust that expensive fish oil is molecularly distilled and free from mercury. You believe your magnesium is actually absorbed. You assume your creatine is pure pharmaceutical-grade powder. But can these brands prove it—or are you swallowing contaminated, oxidized, low-potency supplements that do more harm than good? Dr. Christian Gonzalez investigated the supplement industry with one critical question: can the most popular longevity supplements prove they're free from heavy metals, microplastics, and oxidation through third-party testing and Certificates of Analysis (COAs)? The shocking reality? Most can't—or won't—provide basic proof of purity. You're expected to trust your mitochondria, brain health, and long-term performance to manufacturers who refuse transparency about what's actually in the bottle. The hidden dangers lurking in "premium" supplements: • Fish oils contaminated with mercury, lead, microplastics, and oxidized rancid fats that trigger inflammation instead of reducing it • Magnesium oxide marketed as "magnesium" with 4% absorption—meaning you're literally flushing your money down the toilet • Creatine cut with heavy metals, banned substances, and fillers that negate performance benefits and contaminate your system • Vitamin D formulated in seed oils and synthetic carriers that interfere with absorption and create inflammatory byproducts • Fiber supplements loaded with inulin blends and maltodextrin that spike blood sugar and cause severe digestive distress • Zero verification of potency claims—dosages listed on labels that have no relationship to what third-party testing reveals inside • Supplements stored in conditions that degrade active ingredients months before expiration dates In this episode, Dr. Christian Gonzalez reveals: • The 5 most studied supplements for longevity, brain power, and energy—and exactly how to buy the cleanest versions • Why Omega-3 fish oils are either your greatest longevity tool or a toxic inflammatory bomb depending on purity testing • The one form of magnesium that actually works (and the three forms that are complete scams stealing your money) • How creatine monohydrate boosts ATP in your muscles AND brain—but only if it passes strict third-party certification • Why Vitamin D without K2 can calcify your arteries while you think you're "optimizing" your health • The soluble fiber that lowers all-cause mortality by 11%—and why most fiber supplements use the wrong type • Exact evidence-based doses, timing strategies, and quality markers so you never waste money on fairy dust formulas again • The certifications that actually matter: IFOS, NSF, Informed Sport, Creapure, and why "GMP certified" means nothing • How to read COAs and spot red flags in oxidation scores, heavy metal panels, and microplastic screening This episode goes beyond basic supplementation—it's about understanding that your cellular membranes, mitochondrial function, and long-term disease prevention depend on purity, not marketing. It's about demanding proof before putting daily supplements into your body, and recognizing that the supplement industry profits from your trust, not your health outcomes. The supplement industry doesn't want you asking for COAs. But your brain, heart, and longevity depend on it.
