    16. Bro Way Home: SPECIAL BONUS MARVEL EPISODE

THWIP! It's our first SPECIAL BONUS EPISODE, Availors! The Singh brothers unite in this special, extended bonus episode which is less about being Emotionally Available and more about Marvel's Spider-man filmography. Lifelong fan and Nivedhan's brother, Eklan Singh, joins in this chronological dressing down and gassing up of every single Spider-man movie. Don't worry, it's still chock-full of the emotional arc of two brothers with a 10-year age gap, and a massive love for a certain Wall-Crawler. There's also a SPECIAL BONUS GUEST: John The Astronaut himself is back and ready to get in on the Spider-Simping and even discusses some surprisingly suggestive Spider-man comic book cover art...There are massive Spider-man/Marvel Cinematic Universe spoilers in this episode, so if you don't want those, best to avoid this episode all-together. If you don't care about Marvel at all and just want to hear 2-3 people nerd-out in a sultry baritone: listen away! Nivedh and Taylor are fresh from a weekend spent off the grid. While they were gone, Sara broke a personal screen time record devising a foolproof money-making plan for the three of them, the success of which depends heavily on Blake Shelton and/or Luke Bryan. So if you have a lead on either, please DM us at your earliest convenience. If you've listened to any of the previous nine episodes of this podcast, you've probably deduced that Nivedh and Sara have a lot of words in their heads at all times, and most of these words come out of their mouths. Usually dramatically. Sometimes tactfully. Rarely scornfully. But on today's episode, Nivedh has regrets, as he learned that some of his past words were hurtful. As that is never our intention on Emotionally Available, we huddle for a team apology and a moment of sincerity. But because tragedy + time = comedy or whatever, we power on and hope that when listening to this podcast you'll remember: we're joking. And human. Just a regular trio of human jokesters. That said, today's episode is about the power of words, and how they can be used for empowerment or destruction. We also welcome our third guest, when Nivedh's mom calls. She likens Taylor's role on this podcast to that of Bert on Sesame Street. Afterwards, we get distracted and audit each other's dating profiles, and find out a lot about Taylor and Sara's fashion choices. As always, we are emotionally available to you. Maybe it's the global pandemic, maybe it's being uncomfortably close to age 30, or maybe it's the handful of catastrophic events they've experienced in the last year. Whatever the reason, Nivedh and Sara have been thinking about mortality a lot lately, as is expected from two has-been emo kids. On today's episode, they discuss the times they've felt most near death, and the times they've felt most alive. Nivedh has repeatedly found himself in an uncomfortably close proximity to natural and unnatural disasters, but also stood proudly on the edge of enlightenment at a Coheed and Cambria concert. Sara drove herself to near-demise last fall, but what a year to do it. Graphically broken nose and scarred face? Just slap a mask on and call it fashion, girlfriend! But not everything is a matter of life or death. While feeling spiteful earlier this week, Sara happened across one of the most unbelievable social media displays she's ever had the petty pleasure of finding. Nivedh, being the enabler he is, persuades her to read it, and it reminds us to live, love, and laugh out loud. As always, we are emotionally available to you. What do ASMR and BDSM have in common? They're both 4-letter acronyms, and Nivedh isn't into either thing. On today's episode, we hear how he discovered this about himself on a second date, and the extent of what can happen when we say “yes” to things that probably warranted a “no.” It happened to be a big week for yes's and no's, a life-changing one; in fact. Sara would have loved to explain exactly what the planets were doing to cause it all, but since Nivedh and Taylor have the maturity of 7th grade boys in science class, you'll never know why Uranus was to blame. Many events went down this week. Nivedh mustered the strength to send a firm email, and lived to tell about it. Sara had one of her biggest dreams come true, then soon after, her worst nightmare. From this, they discuss what it means to take ownership over your life, and how doing so means accountability, choices, decisions, and doubts. Raise and uphold your standards, ‘cause you're valuable, baby! Just ask that person Nivedh dated who had a tattoo of a noodle, due to “im-pasta” syndrome. Earlier this week, Sara found herself unable to remember the name of a guy she dated less than a year and a half ago, and Nivedh got angry for the first time since 2015, but handled it markedly better than his younger self. This is to say: your podcast parents are getting older. But with age comes wisdom (or something like that) so on today's episode, Nivedh and Sara discuss attachment styles, and how one's upbringing affects one's approach to relating with others. They also talk about how attachment behavior impacts expectations, and how expectations impact one's definition of “dating.” What can they say, reading all those mental health infographics on social media is starting to pay off! Reflecting on their own personal styles of attachment, Nivedh encourages you to let him love you and never let you go, Sara just now became aware of the half-dozen relationships she never knew she was in, and Taylor had never heard of attachment styles before today. Also on this episode, Emotionally Available gets a surprise guest for the second week in a row, when Sara's mom calls in the middle of recording. Nivedh immediately sets off his Mom Charm Bomb™, and Sara's mom publicly thanks a guy Sara went on two dates with four years ago for introducing her to the NBA subreddit. Nivedh and Sara are feeling good this week. Their friend Kyler (@cerealkyler) took a break from his job of photographing Alice Cooper to come and take nice pictures of them. They got a new bigger white board for the studio, the sun is shining, and their energy is high. So, what better topic for today's episode than the most desperate, embarrassing things they've done in attempts to impress people? But first, they discuss the ways in which having creative careers and a lot of hobbies makes them more vulnerable in friendships and relationships. And also probably more judgmental. All Nivedh wants is sincere and frequent validation, and Sara just doesn't want to listen to you sing like Bob Dylan- is that really too much to ask? Nivedh has never been one to do anything but the most, so of course he once wrote a 21-page Stars Wars fan fiction to win the affection of someone he met on a dating app (watch the full dramatic reading on his IGTV). Sara recounts the summer she spent trying to learn to hip-hop dance in order to keep up with her ex-boyfriend, a cast member of Hamilton: The Musical. Lastly, Nivedh regales us with the tale of the night he won over his crush, a bonfire, and the occupants of an upstate NY emergency room. As always, we are emotionally available to you. Nivedh and Sara come to record the podcast having gotten into their first disagreement earlier this week. They quickly put it behind them and avoid a custody battle over Taylor, mostly due to Nivedh being an extreme people-pleaser and Sara reserving all her anger for Comcast customer service representatives. As two individuals who present a level of maturity and competence that far outweighs that which they actually posses, Nivedh and Sara are no strangers to meeting parents. Thanks to years of dating women with cool dads, Nivedh is just one father-in-law away from reaching his final dad form, while Sara has invested far too much into her fantasy of becoming a mysterious rich aunt to bother dating anyone without siblings. On today's episode, they unpack their relationships with parental figures, swap stories of meeting the families of significant others, then throw some psychoanalyses into the conversation for good measure. “I wish you both the best of luck in your mutual existential crisis.” – Sara's mom As always, we are emotionally available to you. Nivedh and Sara have had a tough few days, and for this week's episode, Taylor had to set microphones up in front of a couple sad, frowning faces. But we ride on and record because what else would you expect from two people this emotional and this available? After wiping their tears with their music degrees and remembering how good they look in cardigan sweaters, Sara and Nivedh define what they are “looking for” (this week at least). While Nivedh is experiencing side effects from focusing on himself, Sara defines her long-term, committed relationship with money, and it leads to the EA team discovering their shared, unironic love of a certain hip-hop artist. We talk about partnership “dealbreakers” - those that have been used against us, and those we may one day have the opportunity to use against others. Oh, you liked our pilot episode! We're delighted to hear it. This week, we convinced our friend Taylor to stop messing around at his full-time job as an engineer at one of the most renowned mastering studios in the world, and finally make something of himself by producing our podcast. After an intense verbal op-ed by Nivedh comparing Spider-Man casting decisions, we talk about what to do when you no longer want to date a person you met through an app. Nivedh advocates for sending a thoughtful message stating your honest feelings, while Sara is adamant that less is more (re: just ghost). We discuss the art of making plans, bailing on plans, and why you should probably take it personally. We share thoughts on the age-old adages of meeting the right people at the wrong time, things happening for a reason, and “signs” from the universe, as Nivedh momentarily steps into an alternate dimension and Sara fans sage smoke out of her face. Lastly, our best friend Bobbi adopted a kitten, and our lives are forever changed. As always, we are emotionally available to you. It's the pilot episode! This week, Nivedh and Sara set up two microphones, turn on the black light, and wing it. Naturally, the first topic of conversation is OnlyP@ns, and how Nivedh leveraged the platform as a marketing strategy for his band. Sara reminisces on the time she tried to find a sugar daddy (still looking). We talk about that girl Nivedh dated who would gradually become British in the middle of her sentences. As two people who love to talk on the phone, we debate the pros and cons of cellular communication, determining when to call, when to text, and when to just not. Was the OF marketing plan a success? Is it okay to call someone to simply talk about your day? Will Peacock ever become a sponsor of this podcast? Listen and find out. As always, we are emotionally available to you.
