Country Music Hall of Famer, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer, 2-time Country Song of the Year GRAMMY winner, and 5-time BMI Country Songwriter of the Year Paul Overstreet gives us a peek behind the curtain of his legendary career. PART ONE: Scott does his best not to throw a certain individual under the bus with a very funny story involving Paul Overstreet. Plus, the guys pay tribute to the late Joe Melson, past Songcraft guest and primary Roy Orbison collaborator. PART TWO: Our in-depth conversation with Paul OverstreetABOUT PAUL OVERSTREET Paul Overstreet is one of the most successful songwriters in Nashville history and among the three inductees in the Country Music Hall of Fame's class of 2026. His catalog of classics includes “Same Ole Me,” recorded by George Jones, as well as the Randy Travis hits “Digging Up Bones,” “No Place Like Home,” “Deeper Than the Holler,” “On the Other Hand,” and “Forever and Ever, Amen.” The latter two were both named Song of the Year by NSAI, the CMA, and the ACM. Additionally, “Forever and Ever, Amen” earned a Grammy award for Best Country Song in 1988. Overstreet won another Best Country Song Grammy in 1992 for “Love Can Build a Bridge,” which was a major hit for The Judds.  Other highlights of the Paul Overstreet songbook include the number one hits “A Long Line of Love,” recorded by Michael Martin Murphy,” “When You Say Nothing at All,” which was a hit for both Keith Whitley and Alison Krauss, and “Some Beach” for Blake Shelton. In addition to his achievements with other performers, Overstreet became a successful recording artist in his own right. He reached the top of the charts in 1987 with “I Won't Take Less Than Your Love,” which he recorded with Tanya Tucker and Paul Davis, and had hits with the group S-K-O, a trio he formed with Thom Schuyler and Fred Knobloch. From 1988 through 1991 Paul scored eight consecutive top 10 singles as a solo artist, including “Seein' My Father in Me” and “Daddy's Come Around.”  Paul was named BMI's Country Songwriter of the year five years in a row from 1987 through 1991, a feat that hasn't been duplicated since. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003.    Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Biography Flash Post Malone Stadium Tours Tributes and Americas Birthday Stage

Post Malone

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 24, 2026 3:52

Post Malone Biography Flash a weekly Biography. Post Malone has been on a run of activity that matters both to his career and to his long‑term story, so let's dive into what's happened in the past few days. On the touring front, he's in the thick of “Post Malone Presents: The Big Ass Stadium Tour Part 2” with Jelly Roll, a stadium‑level statement that cements him as a major live draw years into his career. Live Nation lists the East Hartford, Connecticut stop at Pratt & Whitney Stadium for June 22 with Post taking the stage around 9 p.m, and local outlet FOX61 on Instagram amplified the show with traffic advisories and fan hype, underscoring how he's now firmly in the “city‑shuts‑down‑for-him” tier of performers. Holler, a country and Americana-focused publication, detailed the same date and set times, emphasizing the co‑billing with Jelly Roll, which continues Malone's strategic move into country and heartland audiences. That partnership has a personal dimension too. Jelly Roll told E! News in a recent interview that he was hospitalized in North Carolina for a serious sinus infection shortly before the tour kicked off, and credited Post with supporting him through it. TMZ followed up on the hospitalization context around Jelly Roll's wider personal drama, reporting that the health scare came just ahead of major relationship news, with Post effectively standing by his tourmate. While the emotional details are more in the gossip column lane, the verified fact that Malone is acting as a steady ally on a high‑profile co‑headline tour adds a meaningful “good guy on the road” chapter to his biography. Onstage, Post is also grieving in public. TMZ reports that at a recent show he dedicated the concert to his friend Oliver Tree after Tree's fatal helicopter crash, even pouring out a beer onstage in his honor. That very visible tribute is more than a one‑night moment: it reinforces Malone's image as someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and lets real life enter the performance space, the kind of pattern biographers point to when talking about authenticity and vulnerability. Business‑wise, a key recent storyline continuing to echo is his collaboration with Raising Cane's, where he designed a custom restaurant in Midvale, Utah near his home. Nation's Restaurant News notes that the Post‑designed location, with its special artwork and aesthetic, is part branding exercise, part hometown legacy project, signaling a shift from just endorsements to tangible, physical imprints of his taste in the places he lives. Looking ahead a couple of weeks, ABC News reports that Post Malone will headline Macy's 4th of July fireworks spectacular on NBC, alongside Blake Shelton, Salt‑N‑Pepa and others. Being positioned as one of the faces of America's 250th birthday celebration gives him a kind of mainstream patriotic visibility most artists never reach, and that booking will likely be cited in future biographies as proof he crossed fully into national institution territory. On social media, recent clips around the tour dates show fans posting TikToks and Reels from the stadium shows, and while specific setlist or backstage rumors pop up on fan accounts, much of that remains unverified until matched by reputable outlets or official posts. Any alleged new music teases or surprise collaborations mentioned casually in those spaces should be treated as speculation for now. That's the latest chapter in the living, breathing story of Post Malone. Biography Flash Post Malone Delays Tour to Finish Double Album While Viral Stage Moment Stirs Debate

Post Malone

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 10, 2026 3:24

Post Malone Biography Flash a weekly Biography. Post Malone's last few days have been a blur of tour drama, viral clips, and serious album stakes, and it all matters for his long term story. The most biographically important move is business, not spectacle: multiple outlets including The Charlotte Observer and entertainment coverage on Instagram report that Post has **scrapped six stadium dates and pushed back the start of his Big Ass Stadium Tour with Jelly Roll by about three weeks** so he can finish his upcoming double album, The Eternal Buzz. He posted directly to fans that he had promised new music and realized he could not complete the record and properly rehearse a full stadium run at the same time, so cities including El Paso, Waco, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Tampa, and Oxford were dropped from this leg. According to those reports, this is not a minor tweak; it is a conscious bet that the album will outlast any short term touring revenue and will define his next era. On stage, though, the headlines have been wilder. NDTV and AOL Entertainment both circulated a now viral video from his recent performance at Gulf Coast Jam in Florida, where he appeared unsteady, rolled and lay on the stage, then lit a cigarette mid song before staring blankly toward the crowd. Some commentators on Instagram and TikTok reels are calling his behavior “bizarre” and comparing the footage to Amy Winehouse's troubled final performances, while others insist it is exaggerated stagecraft and part of his rock star persona. At this point, there is no verified medical or legal issue linked to that clip; any claims about substance abuse or crisis are speculation from fans and commentators, not confirmed by Post, his team, or major news organizations. Despite the chatter, his country crossover march continues. Local Carolina coverage and festival organizers on Facebook confirm that Post Malone is locked in as a **headliner at the 2026 Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach alongside Blake Shelton**, a booking that underscores his ongoing pivot into country and his perception by promoters as a bankable, genre straddling superstar. Meanwhile, regional outlets like WCNC Charlotte have been highlighting huge crowds turning out for his co headlining shows with Jelly Roll, signaling that demand is strong even as dates move around. On social media, his official X account recently teased “see you in 10 days” tied to the tour rollout, but he has otherwise kept things relatively minimal, letting the postponement statement and the viral concert footage do most of the talking for him. Health and sobriety rumors continue to surface on TikTok and lesser known blogs, but Post has previously attributed his recent weight loss to lifestyle changes like cutting soda, and there have been no fresh, sourced interviews in the last couple of days revising that explanation, so newer panic posts remain unconfirmed commentary rather than fact. That is your rapid fire Post Malone Biography Flash for this episode. Send us Fan MailWhat if the biggest moments in your life come down to one simple decision?Show up.This week on Here's What We Know, we sit down with rising country artist and songwriter Kyle Clark for a conversation about faith, songwriting, Nashville, and the unpredictable moments that can change everything.Kyle shares the story behind how one late-night decision to “just show up” led to a song eventually recorded by Blake Shelton after first being held by HARDY and Morgan Wallen. The episode explores creativity, resilience, purpose, and the small moments that shape our lives forever. If you've ever wondered whether the little decisions in life really matter, this episode is a reminder that sometimes the moments that change everything begin with simply walking through the door.In This Episode:How hit country songs are really writtenMoving from Georgia to NashvilleLeaving college to pursue music full-timeLearning to trust timing instead of forcing outcomesWhy great songs sometimes sit for years before finding the right artistThe role faith plays in creativity and songwritingThe emotional reality of chasing a dream in NashvilleWhy vulnerability matters in both music and lifeHow persistence and consistency open unexpected doorsWhy “showing up” became the defining lesson of his careerThis episode is sponsored by: Mike Counsil Plumbing & Rooter (Use code “Gary” to get $89 off any service!) License #: 679261Bison Junk Removal (Be sure to tell them Gary sent you!)Bio:Kyle Clark is a songwriter, artist, and producer born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in the small town of Jefferson, Georgia. His love for country music, paired with a diverse range of influences and a strong work ethic, has shaped his unique sound. After winning the 101.5 Kicks Radio competition in Atlanta two years in a row, Clark's music caught the attention of hit songwriter and producer Jordan Schmidt (Kane Brown, Tyler Hubbard, Jason Aldean). In 2019, Schmidt offered Clark a joint venture publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing. Within a year, Clark co-wrote his first RIAA-certified Platinum single, “Villain” by Lily Rose. When the global pandemic hit, Clark focused his energy on producing his own music, learning from his mentor Jordan Schmidt and his roommate Jacob Durrett (Morgan Wallen, ERNEST). His dedication paid off in early 2022 when a video of his song went viral on TikTok, driving over 21,000 pre-saves for “Hope It's Hot Out,” which was released on May 27, 2022. The track crossed 1 million streams in its first week and has since amassed over 40 million streams independently across all platforms. In 2024, Clark signed a new publishing deal with Relative Music Group, and has since landed cuts with major country acts including HARDY, Blake Shelton, Dylan Scott, Jon Pardi, Mitchell Tenpenny, Restless Road, Mackenzie Carpenter, Erin Kinsey, and Chayce Beckham.Website: https://www.kyleclarkmusic.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KyleClarkMusicInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kyleclarkmusic/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kyleclarkmusicFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/KyleClarkMusicTags: Kyle Clark, Gary Scott Thomas podcast, Nashville songwriter interview, country music podcast, Blake Shelton Let Him In Anyway, HARDY songwriter story, Morgan Wallen songwriting, country songwriting process, how hit songs are written, Nashville music industry, faith and creativity, storytelling podcast, songwriter interview, Kyle Clark Nashville, creative persistence, showing up changes everything, music industry inspiration, country artist interviewConnect with Gary:Gary's WebsiteFollow Gary on InstagramGary's TiktokGary's FacebookWatch the episodes on YouTubeAdvertise on the PodcastThank you for listening. Inside a century-old church in Pasadena, California, Blake Shelton sits alone on a faded wooden pew, praying. Smoke and lights are pumped into the darkened sanctuary as a camera circles, filming the video for his latest single, “Let Him In Anyway.” It's a ballad about a recently deceased best friend whose eternal salvation is in doubt, but the director has an idea to inject some optimism into the song that is not suggested by the lyrics. He instructs two crew members to open the church doors as the song concludes, letting in streams of California sunshine that hint at an answered prayer.  “I try to make all my decisions by listening to what everyone else has to say,” Shelton tells Forbes. “We'll go edit it—and if it works it works, and if it doesn't, nobody besides you ever knows it happened.” The 49-year-old country music superstar describes all his ventures with similar aw-shucks humility. But those he works closest with say not to underestimate the business savvy of a man who has recorded 31 No. 1 country radio hits, opened a national chain of restaurants, launched a Hollywood production company and amassed a personal fortune that Forbes estimates at more than $200 million. Jenny Tolman grew up around music, but her path to finding her voice was anything but easy. In high school, she found herself in an abusive relationship that changed the course of her life. Songwriting became her escape, then her healing, and eventually her confidence. As the pain faded, the music turned brighter, and Jenny realized she didn’t just love music, she was meant to do it. Her very first show was at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, and through songwriting she met her husband, Grammy nominated producer Dave Brainard. After Dave was brutally assaulted in a crosswalk attack, Jenny knew without question that he was her person and that she wanted to be with him forever. Shortly after having her son Bear, Jenny was cast on The Road, starring Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, and Gretchen Wilson, becoming one of 12 finalists while balancing new motherhood and full time touring. It was the hardest and most life changing year of her life and proof that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is keep going.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
