As you have likely heard me say before, I truly think the world would be a better place if everyone could live like I do. No matter how stressful my day becomes I still get to go home to a nice quiet peaceful place and live on my terms. Yes I do have chores to do on a regular basis that makes it possible for me to live off grid. However, those chores give me some physical activity which tends to keep me healthy. But this is all part of me living a lifestyle that is in line with my personal values. This reduces my stress. It means I am living with intention which in turn keeps me emotionally healthy. So join me for episode 242 The Health Benefits of Sustainable Living Part Three: Mental and Emotional Well-Being

This time on Code WACK! What does freedom really mean when, in 2025, health care costs more than $31,000 a year for the average American family? This Independence Day, we're revisiting a powerful conversation about how single-payer healthcare could slash costs, unleash innovation, and expand access for all. Could it also help revive the American Dream of owning your own business? Ian Lewis, now with Unite Here Local 2 but at the time of this interview with National Union of Healthcare Workers, breaks down how our current system burdens small businesses, stifles entrepreneurship—and what a bold reform could change. Could Medicare for All be the key to greater financial security, opportunity, and true independence for millions of Americans? While Ian ends the interview on an optimistic note, the political context for healthcare reform has changed dramatically since this episode. Funding for public health insurance programs like Medicaid and Medicare are on the chopping block and the threat of privatization is greater than ever. Keep up with the latest news on health policy reform by subscribing for updates at heal-ca.org/take-action. Check out the Show Notes and Transcript for more!

In this Meat the People episode, we go inside the finishing pen—literally—with Adam Wackel of Plum Creek Wagyu. Surrounded by 80 full-blood Wagyu cattle, each tipping the scale at over 1,000 pounds, Adam walks us through what makes his herd different: calm, well-treated animals raised with intention. We talk about the temperament of Wagyu and how low-stress handling directly impacts meat quality, marbling, and texture. Adam breaks down the difference between feeding corn versus force-feeding corn, especially in large-scale feedlots vs. small, local operations like his. Yes, he uses corn—it's Nebraska—but it comes from the farm next door, not a commodity mill. Everything is sourced locally, with care and transparency. We also dig into how Wagyu cattle behave differently from Angus, why scale matters, and what it takes to raise some of the best beef in the country. If you've ever wanted a behind-the-scenes look at ethical Wagyu farming done right, this episode delivers.Learn more about Adam's work and order his beef at plumcreekwagyubeef.comWorld Wagyu Council Health Benefits: https://worldwagyucouncil.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Health-Benefits-of-Wagyu-Beef-ISSUED-MAY-2025.pdf
