Send us a textSt. Louis-based metalcore act dead7 is poised to break through in a major way with the release of their highly anticipated debut album, LOVE WHAT YOU CAN WHILE YOU GOT SOMETHING LEFT TO LOVE, arriving July 11, 2025 via SharpTone Records. Known for their emotionally charged blend of heavy grooves, ambient textures, and bold vulnerability, the five-piece continues to turn heads with a sound that fuses brutal honesty and melodic hooks in equal measure.Composed of Jason Kozik (vocals), Dexter Greer (guitar), Tim Quinn (guitar), Stephen Salyer (bass), and Zach Guinn (drums), dead7 crafts music that leans into both atmospheric metal and alternative rock, while unafraid to explore the depths of love, loss, and internal conflict. Their debut album captures that duality perfectly—one moment it's a crushing wall of sound, the next a moment of haunting introspection.“We keep people guessing,” frontman Jason Kozik shared. “The new material is heavy, but we emphasized the hooks. We tried to make sure our songs resonate. In terms of the content, we focused on love, relationships, and things that are often tough to say.”After gaining traction through powerful singles like “tape mouth” and “heaven only knows” (featuring Nathan Johnson of Fox Lake), dead7 began to find their footing on the live circuit, including festival slots at POINTFEST alongside acts like Bad Omens, The Pretty Reckless, and Coheed and Cambria. The momentum caught the attention of SharpTone Records, who signed the band in late 2024.Heading back into the studio with trusted collaborators Caleb Freihaut and Ben McGuiness, dead7 shaped a record that reflects not only their evolution as a band but their refusal to be boxed in. Touchstones like Loathe, Bring Me The Horizon, and Three Days Grace inspire the record's push-and-pull between chaotic energy and accessible melody.Tracks like “BLUR” showcase that duality immediately, with its vocoder-drenched verses giving way to explosive choruses. “It incorporates a lot of what dead7 is,” Kozik explained. “Lyrically, it's a view of trying to navigate life with everything going on... in our relationships, in our families, and in ourselves. It feels like a blur, and you're trying to survive.”Other album standouts include “HOLE,” a raw depiction of tension in a fractured relationship, and “PLEASE,” a cheeky-yet-intense track featuring Marcus Vik, where soaring melodies meet lusty lyricism and thunderous riffs. Kozik remarked, “We were making a joke about being kind of horny, and we tried to encapsulate it… It has www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. Con música de The Beatles, Route 49 (interpretando a Buddy Guy), y Coheed and Cambria. Próximo programa: Magic Knight Rayearth (Parte I).

(Yes, that's the full title—breathe now.) We wrangled in the ever-insightful Favio Vegas to help us untangle this prog-rock Rubik's Cube. Is this album a poetic masterpiece that'll make you grab your 10-speed bike and ride toward destiny? Or does it leave you staring into the void, waiting to be Welcomed Home by better decisions? No spoilers—but expect plenty of interdimensional confusion, some mild existential dread, and a whole lotta guitar wizardry. Tracks of the Week slap harder than a caffeine crash at 4AM: Marc goes full nocturnal with “4am T.M.” by Heavy Bones—because nothing says productivity like insomnia and power chords. Jerry walks the straight and sinister path with “Devils Row” by The Reality of Yourself—spooky, soulful, and possibly cursed. Favio chooses the narrative path with “The Story” by Envy of None—turns out even envy has layers. And Mooger closes it out in true Mooger fashion with “I Might Let the Devil Win” by Sevendust—because sometimes, evil just has the better riff. So until next week: grab that 4am TM, start writing your own prog saga, and if you find yourself on Devil's Row… maybe just walk really fast. #coheedandcambria

Changes aren't permanent, but change is. I was certainly experiencing a lot of changes in my life through my late teens and early twenties, from new experiences to new beliefs to new tastes in music. In those years a band showed up on my radar with such a unique sound, blending prog rock with pop punk and topping it with a sci-fi story about...something, I dunno. I think it's like Final Fantasy but the guys that wanna kill God are the bad guys in this one. Regardless of the incoherence, it blew me away and became one of my new favorite things. Later on, after seeing them live, I realized I had been missing out on an entire half of their catalogue, despite owning it, and went back to listen with fresh ears, and finally it all clicked and I was in, front to back. The band's second outing in particular stuck with me, and also with a good homie of mine who i would not meet for another 10+ years. Now we join forces to take on Coheed & Cambria's In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.

Upcoming Albums, Tours, More _ _ __ _ _“Last weekend, progressive rock band TOOL faced a backlash from fans at their inaugural TOOL In The Sand festival in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The event, which featured performances by Primus, Mastodon, and Coheed and Cambria, was marred by TOOL's decision to play similar sets on both Friday and Saturday nights. Despite promises of unique performances, the band repeated four songs—"Fear Inoculum," "Rosetta Stoned," "Pneuma," and "Jambi"—leaving fans feeling shortchanged and prompting boos at the end of the second show. The high cost of attending the festival, which required purchasing vacation packages, further exacerbated fan disappointment, with some even considering a class-action lawsuit. This reaction highlights the high expectations fans have for TOOL's live performances, which often feature complex and atmospheric music that explores philosophical themes.” (Perplexity) ______Hosted by: Luke = https://bsky.app/profile/rockednet.bsky.social Alex = https://bsky.app/profile/voiceofalex.bsky.social Rowan = https://bsky.app/profile/rowbuck01.bsky.social
