Today we have an interview with anti zionist JVP activist Dr Wendy Elisheva Somerson (Wes) who will be talking about their brand new book called “An Anti-Zionist Path to Embodied Jewish Healing: Somatic Practices to Heal Historical Wounds, Unlearn Oppression, and Create a Liberated World to Come” This book is an Unapologetically anti-Zionist book that is firmly rooted in Jewish spiritual values and a liberatory model for healing for all activists and in particular for anti zionists and Zionist “An Ani-Zionist path to Embodied Jewish Healing” provides Body-based tools and faith-based practices for processing trauma, reclaiming our agency, and building a world where “never again” means “never again for anyone” Deftly addressing how ancestral grief from colonialism lives on in all our bodies and keeps us from feeling safe—and how that fear can become enacted on other people, Somerson also addresses how Israel manipulates its citizens to remain stuck in trauma and fear from the Holocaust and anti semitism and asks how do we reconcile a history of persecution with the state power of Israel today? Somerson's book An Anti-Zionist Path to Embodied Jewish Healing shows us how thru somatic healing we can strengthen our movement to build effective solidarity and purposeful power. They do this by showing how oppressive systems that exist outside of us also exist in our own bodies and how somatic healing and healing justice can help us find our aliveness to better understand our relationship to collective power to become better activists rooted in creating solidarities and collective power that will last and not turn against itself. Wendy Elisheva Somerson (Wes) is a queer non-binary, disabled, Ashkenazi Jewish somatic healer, writer, activist, and visual artist and One of the founders of the Seattle chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace. They have been active in Palestinian solidarity work for over two decades. As a politicized healer, Wes works at the intersection of personal and collective healing with individuals, groups, and organizations. In this episode of Conversations with Mayi Lenz, we're diving into what it means to become unapologetically you. Through real stories and powerful reflections, I share three distinct paths I've seen women take on this journey—what I later realized could be seen as archetypes: The Empowered Boundary-Setter, The Unapologetic Authentic, and The Evolving Self-Discoverer. Tune in for inspiration, practical steps, and a reminder to stop apologizing for who you are and what you want.
In this raw and impassioned episode of RattlerGator Report, J.B. White introduces “Project De-Weaponization,” a bold cultural initiative aimed at dismantling the power structures surrounding the N-word and the broader manipulation of language. Drawing from personal experience, Southern history, and cultural commentary, J.B. makes the case that the enforced taboo around the word is a mental health issue used to infantilize and control Black Americans. He dives deep into the historical roots of the “Talented Tenth,” the manipulation of identity politics, and how language has been hijacked to divide rather than unite. Blending personal anecdotes, sharp humor, and cultural analysis, J.B. critiques what he sees as performative outrage, the hypocrisy of modern racial discourse, and the media's exploitation of racial tension. From Zora Neale Hurston to Eric Church lyrics, and even a breakdown of Pulp Fiction's power dynamics, this episode is both fiery and reflective. J.B. calls on non-Black Americans to help break the dialectical chains and treat the word as just that, a word. Unapologetically honest, challenging, and often humorous, this episode is a rallying cry for cultural maturity and honest dialogue, inviting listeners to confront uncomfortable truths in pursuit of real healing and unity.

Describing Lyas as a "fashion narrator" rather than a critic or commentator feels curiously apt in a moment when fashion could use a little more imagination and a little less judgment. Storytelling, after all, is what he does best — with a kind of honesty that carries weight without ever feeling heavy. Unlike many of his peers, Lyas is as much a creator as he is a commentator, sculpting himself into a living performance while quietly building a world behind the scenes with two films already in the works. His energy moves through the industry like a weather system — sometimes wild, but never without purpose — electrifying the air it passes through. He learned early that the worst thing anyone could do was ask him to tame himself, and it is precisely this refusal that has shaped his path. Fired from every traditional job he attempted, Lyas carved out a future that runs on instinct, imagination, and just the right measure of delusion. In an industry that often rewards conformity, he is a reminder that sometimes it is the unruliest forces that end up remaking the landscape. "I couldn't be normal. My normal is crazy." - Lyas Episode Highlights: Growing up in Rouen - Lyas reflects on his early years in a city steeped in history but devoid of contemporary culture — and how moving to Paris unlocked his sense of identity and creative belonging. The Power of Performance - How 11 years of drama school shaped Lyas's relationship to fashion, storytelling, and self-expression — and why performance is an essential part of his daily life. Feeling the Most Tamed — and the Most Lost - A candid look at how being "tamed" or asked to tone down his personality deeply affected Lyas's sense of self-worth — and why authenticity became non-negotiable. Building a Career Without a Blueprint: - Lyas shares how unconventional paths, personal resilience, and creative hunger shaped a career that defies traditional expectations — and why doing things his own way became the only option. Living Rent-Free in Paris (and Building a Dream) - The surreal stretch of living rent-free during COVID — and how it gave Lyas the time and space to develop the projects that would launch his digital career. Making Fashion Critique Accessible - Why Lyas believes fashion commentary should be democratized — speaking to real people, not just insiders — and how he uses humor and storytelling to break down barriers. Choosing Integrity Over Industry Pressure - The moment Lyas chose honesty over maintaining industry relationships, after attending a disappointing show and refusing to stay silent. The Future of Fashion (and the Role of Excitement) - How Lyas manages to stay genuinely excited about fashion, especially by championing young designers, despite the industry's increasingly commercial pressures. Writing Stories, Not Just Reviews - Lyas shares his passion for screenwriting, the difference between writing scripts versus essays, and the films he hopes will challenge and change culture. What's Contemporary Now? Hatred — and Hope - Lyas's unexpectedly profound answer to the show's namesake question — that hatred feels contemporary today, but so does the community-building needed to fight it. Send us a textAaron Thomas joins Yanni for a profoundly honest conversation about living authentically and protecting your mental health. The episode opens with Aaron sharing his unique perspective on motivation—acknowledging life's finite nature pushes him to maximize each day and fulfill his purpose. "My motivation comes from my fear of dying and not doing all that God has called me to do," he reveals, setting the tone for a discussion that moves beyond surface-level advice. The conversation takes a deep dive into mental wellbeing as Aaron explains the importance of surrounding yourself with people who genuinely see you while distancing from those who consistently drain your energy without replenishing it. This philosophy extends to his approach to relationships, where he presents the thought-provoking concept of "mutual using"—the idea that healthy relationships involve reciprocal exchange that benefits both parties. At the heart of the episode is Aaron's transformative life motto: "Do not hide, protect, defend or prove who you are to anyone." This powerful statement becomes a framework for authentic living that has freed him from exhausting cycles of people-pleasing and seeking external validation. Aaron and Yanni explore how this mindset has strengthened their marriage, improved their mental health, and deepened their faith by allowing genuine vulnerability and growth. The discussion culminates with Aaron's compelling work mentoring at-risk youth and his passionate encouragement to stop running from difficult emotions. "It's okay to not be okay," he reminds listeners, emphasizing that true healing begins with sitting with uncomfortable feelings rather than avoiding them. Healing is Hard. Facts. It's less hard with the right people in your world. And as painful as grief is, it also instantly connects us. I'm so unbelievably grateful to have today's guest on The Be Ruthless Show in my life. Jess Marie is a single mom to a teenage son. She works for the county at the local DSS, primarily with the homeless population and she has another part time job in a similar field. She started her podcast in June of 2022 called Unapologetically Overcoming. It discusses topics that usually have a negative stigma associated with them. Her hope is that by talking about such topics, people will see that they too can overcome difficult situations and hopefully the stigmas can be eliminated. She has been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder. She's also been a victim of domestic violence & gone through other traumatic experiences, such as the sudden loss of her younger sister, but has been able to overcome them and has found happiness again. Jess launched her own life coaching business early in 2024 called Unapologetic Life Coaching LLC. She offers services that focus on self love, mindset transformation, gratitude practices, & how to overcome barriers so you can live a full, authentic, unapologetic life. She is currently in the process of becoming a certified grief coach. Since the unexpected loss of her sister, she has discovered new purpose in helping others navigate grief and loss, as it is vital to the healing process. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to concerts, & traveling. She's also passionate about advocating for racial/social justice, women's rights, and human rights. Hey guys hey! Welcome back to Adulting with Autism, where we keep it real about life, growth, and healing through a neurodivergent lens. Hey, what's up? EYV fam? It's been a little minute. Yeah, I know, but your girl needed a break, especially with everything going on in the world right now. But I am just dropping into the, let you know I haven't forgotten about you. Season four is just around the corner, and this season we're focusing on women of color in business. With a lot of heated debate about diversity and inclusion in all sectors, but especially business and how big business has played a role, and business leaders in the US elections and in some cases around the globe. I thought this would be a rather relevant discussion to have. Now, we won't just talk about it in the rah rah girl boss way either.Like, yes, we'll talk about the great parts of working in business, but. Well, let's talk about the not so great. We'll talk to women of color who have quit their jobs to start their own successful businesses and their challenges and hiccups through that process to women of color who made a go of working in corporate America and been able to bring their full selves to the table.Unapologetically, we'll discuss. How to be a business that doesn't just exploit its workers and community for profit, as I feel like much of the news only talks about that and how to manage a side hustle when you aren't ready to leave that employer just yet. Some people need a side hustle because they wanna do something else besides what they do at their job, and they just need the extra cash 'cause it's expensive outside and it's only gonna get more so. And of course, because we try to keep it real here and embracing your voice, we'll talk about the challenges and systemic biases that women of color face, whether we're starting a business or moving up the ranks in corporate. And we'll continue to share personal and professional insights and tips that could be useful in your life. So stay tuned for season four of embracing your Voice, debuting on all major streaming platforms on Tuesday, April 22nd

We talk about the lessons learned in the years since, and why she believes in expressing yourself unapologetically in well-loved fashion, in a never-ending dance with Mother Earth. Most of us get so used to playing a role, shaping ourselves into what's “acceptable,” and silencing parts of who we are. But at some point, it catches up with us. We feel stuck, misaligned and disconnected from our own truth. My amazing friend Suzy Ashworth knows this feeling all too well. She's a Quantum Transformation coach, international speaker, and bestselling author of Infinite Receiving. In this episode, we dive into: The moment Suzy realised she had spent her life protecting herself instead of fully living How learning to be vulnerable changed everything, from her relationships to how she sees herself Why so many women struggle with feeling sexy and confident (and how reclaiming that changes everything) The simple (but powerful) mindset shifts that helped her stop living for other people's opinions Read the full show notes >
