Welcome to Learning with Liv! We all have those moments that we have no idea how to do something that everyone else in the world seems to know, and we feel too stupid to ask because it’s just expected of us. I’m going to take you with me on my journey into the unknown and untalked about of your 20’s…

As my guest in this episode, Ryan Clark, says: dating in your twenties can feel like a wooden roller coaster surrounded by nuclear flames. I have to agree with him. We go on a million dates, do crazy things for the ones that made a good impression, get hurt, hurt others, and do it all over again until we find the right match. Heck, when we recorded this episode I was dating a guy I really liked, bragged about never being dumped before, and got broken up with three days later. That’s what your early 20’s are all about. Trying things, taking risks, and having them fail until you’re one step closer to the thing that sticks. In this episode, Ryan and I share about our dating escapades, read some of your worst date stories, and give you our nuggets of wisdom on navigating relationships in your early 20’s. I roast myself real hard about my recent breakup. We hope you enjoy and take something away from it and wish you luck on your roller coaster ride surrounded by nuclear flames. Be sure to share YOUR worst date story with me! I got so many awesome submissions that I am going to do a full bonus episode sharing all of your cringiest stories! Networking can be pretty daunting, especially if you're an introvert. In this episode, I ask Jessica Piatt for some networking tips, specifically for introverts. Jessica is a young professional and is currently employed as the Director of Marketing at the Greater Watertown - North Country Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of Duquesne University, an award-winning photographer, and an authority in her field. She enjoys diving in the St. Lawrence River and resides in downtown Watertown near her fiancé, Mark. Thanks for listening! Grocery shopping: love it or hate it, you have to do it. No one really teaches us how to grocery shop for food that will satisfy AND won't land in the trash after rotting in the fridge for two weeks. Check out this bite-sized episode for your no-BS guide to navigating the grocery store like a boss. On this episode of Learning with Liv, I'm hanging out with my siblings, Ryan and Rachael Grant! This episode is a little different from the others as it's not dedicated to an "adulting" topic. We talk about their early 20's, discuss WebMD, try to describe scotches, play a game, and other nonsense. I hope you enjoy this casual and fun episode and laugh along with our antics! I've been adulting for a while now. These past 20ish months have been a flurry of paper resumes, burnt chocolate chip cookies, quitting and starting (and quitting and starting) jobs, liquid courage, teary therapy sessions, moments of confidence, moments of impulse, nights on laying on the floor of my one bedroom apartment mindlessly watching The Great British Bake-Off because I just worked a 12 hour day, confused days as I tried to remember my passwords for the various bills I needed to pay and a whole lot of learning. I've always loved any kind of anniversary. Birthdays, relationships, pretty much anything I could measure in time. Since it's my year-a-versery at work and my 20ish month-a-versery in the "adult world", I thought I would share with you the top things I figured out that I wish I knew when I graduated. I hope you enjoy this solo episode! You got this, don't listen to the bullshit, and keep on learning! If money and I were dating and our relationship status was on Facebook it'd say "it's complicated", and i'm definitely not the only one! When asking on Facebook what you wish you knew more about in your early 20s, money came up A LOT. And I HEAR YOU. Here's the hard truth: everything comes down to money. From mental health to insurance to grocery shopping to the workplace, the reality is: life costs money. There are definitely going to be a few episodes on finances, but today, it’s all about how to manage your money and take the proper steps to financial stability in your late teens or early 20s. Learning with Liv is a resource. I encourage you to listen to episodes in full but if you’re looking for something specific from this episode, here are the time-stamps. 0:00- Episode Intro 3:27- Interview Begins 4:06- What Would You Say? 5:00- Who Mike is and What He Does 6:45- How you can work toward financial stability in your early 20s 14:07- Common mistakes people make in the early part of their independent years 15:07: How to budget your money 16:55- Credit cards and credit scores 19:27- Investing 24:19- Reading materials 27:40- My 401k experience 30:06- An app that I love for budgeting Thank you to Michael Morgia, Managing Partner at Morgia Wealth Management, for the insightful interview. As Mike said in his interview, "You have to have some discipline. You have to be able to make some money and that takes discipline and you have to have discipline to spend less than you make." Invest in yourself, invest in your future, and invest in your finances. Thanks for Learning with me! This episode took quite the turn. The plan was to have a full interview with my mom about her early 20’s, hear a bit of her insight, and answer some questions from all of you. Well, life definitely threw lemons at me at 100 mph. Listen in to hear the very dramatic retelling of the story of this episode, the advice that we answered during the third attempt at the interview, and more. Hard lessons are necessary. You will make mistakes, learn and grow from them. When life gives you lemons, make vodka lemonade! AKA make it work, something really great may come out of it. When we have a belly ache, a tickle in our throats, or a pain in our side, we usually go to the doctor or take proactive steps to care for ourselves in order to feel better. But what about if we have racing thoughts? Or panic attacks? If we feel sad or alone? Or think we might be struggling with a mental illness? Mental health. We all have it. So many of you have confided in me about facing newfound struggles with mental health in your late teens and early twenties. Well, guess what? Same. In this episode, we learn about mental health and mental illness. I talk with some of my peers about their struggles with mental health and ways that they cope on a day to day basis. I ask Dr. Lee Vance, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, some questions about why struggles with mental health and mental illnesses seem to bubble up at this stage of life, tangible steps to take in order to cope, some local and national resources available, and so much more. I also share my journey and remind you that there will be times that we’re not okay. And that’s perfectly okay. Learning with Liv is a resource.
