The Holy Spirit has been referred to as the “forgotten member of the Trinity.” At one extreme there are those who all but ignore the person and work of the Spirit and at the other extreme there are those who stray from Scripture in seeking to harness the power of the Spirit for their own purposes. We don't want to commit either of these errors, but instead we desire to have a right understanding of and appreciation for the Holy Spirit. On this episode we'll talk with Costi Hinn, who grew up in the extremes of the Word of Faith Movement but was saved and now serves as the Pastor as well as the founder and president of For the Gospel. He's also the author of Knowing the Spirit: Who He Is, What He Does, and How He Can Transform Your Christian Life. We'll discuss the common misconceptions about the person and work of the Holy Spirit, how Christians can discern whether something is of the Spirit or not, what it means to worship in Spirit and in truth, and how we are to understand practices like speaking in tongues or prophesying. This is a great conversation that will help you better understand and appreciate the person and work of the Spirit in your everyday life.Check out the show notes and see additional resources at ReasonableTheology.org/HinnIf you enjoy the sermons and written works of CH Spurgeon, check out the all-new CHSpurgeon.com Here you'll find sermon audio as well as resources by and about the Prince of Preachers. Knowing & Understanding GodJeremiah 9:23-24 God wants us to know and understand Him... and He wants us to then pattern our lives after what we know. Because that is how we will get joy and pleasure from the gift of eternal life. We know and understand Him through 1) what He does (hesed, exercises kindness, grace, mercy) and 2) what He says (guidelines for justice and righteousness). What He Does: the record of Israel's history... is there to show YHWH in action… ready to bless with every good thing, but also ready to judge righteousness and justice, but with mercy. The Psalms & Prophets could be seen as reflections on what we come to know about God through His actions. What He Says: God has given us a foundation of laws, statutes, and behavioral case studies. These are God's ideals for human interaction. Then… God revealed Himself to us even more powerfully through the life and ministry of Jesus. God became a human being so that we might know God better (and visa versa). The TrinityHowever, most professing Christians (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox) insist that God must be understood in a very different manner... the trinity.

Salt and Light Covenant Church in Tallahassee, FL with Pastor Omar Ellison

Let's open our Bibles to Luke 12:29. Jesus tells us not to seek or even worry about what it takes to survive, our basic needs. He already knows what we need and He promises to provide them. What He DOES tell us to seek is to SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS - and then all those other things will be given to us. --Pastor Omar Ellison ******* Find more information on our website: https://www.saltandlightcovenant.com/

My business is built on the foundation of simple, powerful idea: People who tell better stories, get better lives... Like most simple ideas, it scales well, from day to day decision making to ... yes, becoming a movie star: In 1976, Sylvestor Stallone created one of cinemas most enduring characters. Yes ... Rocky lost the prize fight, but he won the girl (and the Oscar for Best Picture) so I guess he came out on top... My favourite line from the movie hints at a classic rule of storyelling. Here it is: “I was nobody. But that don't matter either, you know? 'Cause I was thinkin', it really don't matter if I lose this fight. It really don't matter if this guy opens my head, either. 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance.” All I wanna do is go the distance. I LOVE that. But here's the crucial insight. It doesn't matter what Rocky says, it only matters WHAT HE DOES. Does he go the distance? In great stories, character is REVEALED THROUGH ACTION. And as in stories, so in life. Stallone's use of storytelling to market Rocky was as powerful as anything in the movie itself. Legend says that he was broke when he wrote it. He finished the script in three days. He turned down a fortune to star in it himself. And ended up on stage at the Oscars. Which brings us to a foundation strategy for telling a better business story... See you tomorrow, Nick --- This is one of thirty riffs on #Business #Storytelling. Follow me to get the series. ------------------- The Stories Mean Business podcast with Nick Warren. Some people disparagingly state that God is a crutch for those who believe, as if to say they cannot function without the help. But a crutch does a lot for a person. More than just giving them something to offer stability and support, a crutch gives individuals the ability to do things they would never be able to do otherwise. A crutch, though often painfully, motivates a person to do things when it would be far easier to just sit and not accomplish anything at all. God IS a crutch. After singing at length in gratitude for WHO God has been in his life in verses 1-31 (surviving his enemies and Saul), David transitions to thank God for WHAT He has done in his life. This week as we look at the second part of the text, we will see… Big Idea: 3 Reasons we should thank God for WHAT HE DOES this Thanksgiving. (2 Samuel 22:32-51)

What does he mean by this? 6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” 7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces.9 Then what did you go out to see? A PROPHET Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom it is written: “‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,     who will prepare your way before you.’ 11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 FROM THE DAYS OF JOHN the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been SUBJECTED TO VIOLENCE, and violent people have been RAIDING IT. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied UNTIL JOHN. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the ELIJAH who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear. - Matthew 11:6-15

If money and I were dating and our relationship status was on Facebook it'd say "it's complicated", and i'm definitely not the only one! When asking on Facebook what you wish you knew more about in your early 20s, money came up A LOT. There are definitely going to be a few episodes on finances, but today, it’s all about how to manage your money and take the proper steps to financial stability in your late teens or early 20s.    Learning with Liv is a resource. For then you will make your way PROSPEROUS, and then you will have GOOD SUCCESS.   HOW TO INTEGRATE, REGULATE AND ACTIVATE   THINK IT HEAR IT IMAGINE IT DECLARE IT [TILL I FEEL IT]  ____________________  To be BUILT means I must… INTEGRATE God’s Word into my THINKING REGULATE God’s Word into my EMOTIONS ACTIVATE God’s Word into my DOING  ____________________ TO BE BUILT MEANS I MUST… THINK it till I FEEL it, FEEL it till I DO it, and DO it till I LIVE it!  ____________________   DECLARATIONS – DECLARE IT! FACING PRESSURE - I am of God and have overcome him (satan). For greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. (I John 4:4) FACING PRESSURE - I am far from oppression and fear does not come near me. (Isaiah 54:14) FACING PRESSURE - No weapon formed against me will prosper, for my righteousness is of the Lord. But whatever I do will prosper for I’m like a tree that’s planted by the rivers of water (Isaiah 54;17; Psalm 1:3) PEACE - The peace of God which passes all understanding keeps my heart and my mind through Christ Jesus. And things which are good, and pure, and perfect, and lovely, and of good report, I think on these things. (Philippians 4:7-8) REACH POTENTIAL - The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. (Psalm 138:8) GAINING WISDOM - I am a new creation in Christ, I am His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. Therefore I have the mind of Christ and the wisdom of God is formed within me. (II Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10; I Corinthians 2:16) FREEDOM/GUILT - And I, having received the gift of righteousness do reign as a king in life by Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17) FREEDOM DARK - I am delivered from the power of darkness and I am translated into the kingdom of His dear Son. (Colossians 1:13) REDEEMED KIDS - Great is the peace of my children for they are taught of the Lord. (Isaiah 54:13) PROTECTION - No evil will befall me neither shall any plague come near my dwelling. For the Lord has given His angels charge over me and they keep me in all my ways, and in my pathway is life and there is no death. (Psalm 91:10-11; Proverbs 12:28) SECURE DECISIONS - I do follow the good shepherd and I know His voice and the voice of a stranger I will not follow. (John 10:4-5) SECURE DECISIONS - The Lord enlarges my steps and establishes my thoughts. Therefore I will make healthy Holy Spirit-led decisions. (Psalm 18:36; Proverbs 16:3) REDEEMED DECISIONS - The Lord redeems my life from destruction and crowns me with tender mercies. The Lord satisfies my mouth with good things. My steps are ordered by the Lord. Even if I were to fall down, He upholds me with his hand. (Ps 103:4; Ps 37:23-24) SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY - The Lord makes my way prosperous and gives me good success. Jesus has redeemed me from the curse of sin and given me the grace (power in human weakness) to have unlimited available resources. PROVERBS 23:7 NKJV For as he THINKS IN HIS HEART, so [is] he… JAMES 1:2-8 NKJV My brethren, count it all joy when you FALL INTO VARIOUS TRIALS, 3 knowing that the TESTING OF YOUR FAITH produces PATIENCE. 4 But let PATIENCE have [its] PERFECT WORK, that you may be PERFECT AND COMPLETE, LACKING NOTHING. 5 If ANY OF YOU LACKS wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ASK IN FAITH, with NO DOUBTING, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For LET NOT THAT MAN suppose that he will RECEIVE ANYTHING from the Lord; 8 [he is] a DOUBLE-MINDED MAN, UNSTABLE in ALL his ways. JAMES 1:22-25 NKJV But be DOERS OF THE WORD, and NOT HEARERS ONLY, DECEIVING YOURSELVES. 23 For if anyone is a HEARER OF THE WORD and NOT A DOER, he is like a man OBSERVING his natural face in a MIRROR; 24 for he OBSERVES himself, goes away, and IMMEDIATELY FORGETS what kind of man he was. 25 But he who LOOKS INTO the perfect law of liberty and CONTINUES [IN IT], and is NOT A FORGETFUL HEARER but a DOER OF THE WORK, this one will be BLESSED in WHAT HE DOES.  ____________________ HOW WILL I…  BUILT THINK IT? In the biggest Raw main event of the New Era, Roman Reigns, Big Cass, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens will battle it out for the WWE Universal Championship, which was vacated by the injured Finn Bálor this past Monday night. Although analysts might give an edge to Reigns or Rollins, both of whom have held the WWE World Championship in the past, you can’t discount Big Cass, who has more than proven he can hang in Team Red’s main event scene in recent weeks. As for Owens, we have to imagine that his pal Chris Jericho will “have his back” during this bout. After all, Jericho is “The Best in the World at What He Does,” and that includes bending the rules.Regardless, there will be a new WWE Universal Champion Monday night, and you won’t want to miss any of the action in this explosive four-man melee.
