It's my belief that the athletes featured in this ad and Nike are trying to convey an important message... Consequently, few have recognized. In order to be great, you must remove yourself from the dark controversy. Instead of retweeting President Trump, pulling out your Nike gear, burning shoes, and buying stock...stop! Stop and think, are you dreaming crazy? Have you sacrificed for your dream? Are you living in purpose? Have you even began the process of, JUST DO IT? Marinate on that!
We all know him as, Elvin on The Cosby Show from 1985 to 1992. He has since appeared on a number of shows, including Divorce, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and, Built to Last. Recently, Geoffrey Owens has been the butt of social media jokes. For the purpose of laughs, a rude customer, in my opinion, invaded Owen's privacy, by snapping a photo of the actor bagging groceries at a New Jersey Trader Joe's. The photo was then published in Daily Mail, expecting to shame Owens. My first thought was anger, humiliated and embarrassed? Has it come to this? Why is hard work and labor, a job, which provides for your family, frowned upon? Are we too good for undertaking a job? Are people afraid to sacrifice, for the fear of other people's judgments?

College Isn’t for Everybody, but Education is Necessary! Guest Cris Laniese, Visual Artist In the beginning, we were taught to only focus on one intelligence. Throughout out early childhood education (development), our intellect and skill level has been measured by man-made test and our intelligence is compared to other students. Over time, we begin to believe these results which overcast our true gifts and hinder our potential. (Read about finding your true self.) I've experienced the corporate world, holding down positions that required degrees, but my past work and volunteering experiences landed me the position. I view my life as a college education; the dictionary defines education as an enlightening experience. I've enjoyed my enlightening experiences and in the same breath consider myself a lifelong learner. Many cease the opportunity for learning and stop studying after the college experience; this is damaging to the mindset. Utilizing my time to understand new theories, ideas and facts excite me. Gaining new knowledge and information is necessary; reading, writing and research should resume. College is an education system, formulated to educate a specific group of individuals. (For some, college is necessary.) There are several systems that have been developed that provide the proper knowledge for specific professions. Watching my mother achieve her goals and walk across that stage has always been meaningful to me. For her, college was necessary...necessary for her personal growth and supported the career she desired. My mother's passion for education continues to motivate me. She has provided me with the proper education system "Mom University" which included parenthood, money management, time management, creative thinking and communication. These are life skills that all college students should master. In conclusion, I've adapted to the Western Culture and accepted their perception of me...this has not discouraged me from pursuing my goals. Yes, I may be a college dropout, but I’m highly intelligent. I continue to excel, take action and execute goals set in place. Society defines uneducated as having or showing little or no formal schooling. Uneducated, I'm for damn sure not! This definition is just another way to control mindsets. Remember your mindset and work ethic is valuable. You become your thoughts; the thoughts of other people should not change your target destination. My mother and brother are both college graduates. My father and I are not. We all are excellence! If you are measuring, judging and investing in a person based on their method of education...you are uneducated. Marinate on that!
Stop making lemonade! When life gives you lemons, detox that shit out. Lemons and Truth are very similar. Lemons detox the body providing solutions to health-related problems. Lemons contain antiseptic and natural medications that eliminate toxins. This little, yellow... yet powerful citrus fruit has a variety of health benefits! Comparable, the truth is powerful in itself and is necessary to fulfill your life's purpose. The truth exposes details about others and ourselves. There are events that (we rather not) live through again and fear to face when confronted with the truth. We hold the truth in for several reasons. For example, we may be embarrassed, ashamed, afraid of conflict, even brainwashed into believing another person's truth is our truth. Furthermore, a person's ego can prevent them from recognizing the truth. How? Well, in most cases we identify the ego as arrogance (a big ego, a jerk) but the ego also can cause us to feel subordinate at times. So what do we do with these toxins? We conceal them, not only to protect yourself but others. Rather than speaking up, we remain silent. In addition, we ride out the stories that may have caused embarrassment or ignore the perceived thoughts that people have us which another person may have caused. However, a person with a big ego will believe their truth...to the point that it becomes their fact. This is very scary because no matter what the truth may be, they will never face or live through the hurt that they caused the next person. Individuals that control or challenge every situation tend to never face the truth. Consequently, the truth can cause pain either way. Just like lemons, the truth can be bitter to taste and cause pain (just like a lemon dripped on an open wound). I don't know about you...I hate pain, it hurts and can be harsh. Different personalities refuse to let pain enter in their life so they ignore it. This can be damaging to a person’s well-being and can lead to emotional stress. Through my journey, I recognized that to achieve my goals and life purpose I had to be true and honest. Honest with myself. When you face the truth your flaws and weaknesses will be revealed; my honesty lead me to self-awareness. Self-discoveries help us acknowledge our negative traits. Accepting your flaws supports the mind so that you can experience positive self-development. Do you desire peace of mind or a purposeful life? If you do, you can't achieve peace or purpose traveling through life without truth. It's impossible! No matter what, each person believes their truth is real...but let's be honest there is only one truth. There is the real and the fake; very difficult to identify at times. Knowing this, time and energy spent in debating who is right or wrong is a waste of life. Take that time and energy and discover yourself. I believe we all go through life struggles, but the real truth has a way of revealing itself. For instance, lemons can cure burns, brighten teeth, clears the skin, controls hair loss and heals other exterior conditions. Truth produces a similar outcome. Truth shines through your life, providing peace of mind, happiness, respect and a natural glow. In conclusion, take those “lemons” and detox the hidden truth that you are afraid to face. Truth is powerful, be truthful with all those around you. You can empower and guide others with honesty. Wouldn't you rather receive the benefits from a real lemon instead of artificial results that you would obtain from a fake lemon? A fake lemon is a prop with no true benefits. Marinate on that!
