After that, they discuss how 'Blue Lights' stays intelligent and captivating with its fresh perspective (14:28). In the spoiler section, Blaine and Donovan break down the specifics of what made 'It's Always Sunny...' a return to form, particularly the finale (24:06). Hi Everyone! I am in awe of today's guest and I can't wait for you to listen to this conversation! Jimmi Simpson is one of those actors that really makes you pay attention from the moment you see him onscreen. You may know him from playing Liam McPoyle on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or from his more dramatic work as William in Westworld, Walton in Black Mirror, Tom Andrews in Pachinko, or from one of many many other roles. It was such a pleasure to chat with someone whose work I really respect and learn that our process (or lack of process) is not that different! It was a nice feeling to realize that even someone who seems so disciplined and confident as an actor still faces lack of sleep, ADD and imposter syndrome. We talk about obstacles and opportunities and how to make your way through a challenge as an actor even when you may not know the best way to approach it. This is a great conversation about acting, but Jimmi also has lots of nuggets of wisdom about life in general. Plus, Jimmi's new show Haunted Hotel is really funny and beautiful and I can't wait for everyone to check it out! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I chat about the interview, as well as upcoming live shows and conventions! Comedian Eddie Pepitone, dubbed “The Bitter Buddha,” blends caustic humor with existential musings, delivering performances that ricochet between volcanic rants and self-effacing confessionals. A veteran of New York's improv scene and a familiar face on television—from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia to Bob's Burgers—Eddie's work straddles the line between working-class outrage and oddly serene insight. Offstage, he channels his restless wit into podcasts, social media, and quirky web series, carving out a singular space in comedy that is equal parts fury and philosophy.
We're back! And we've got a double episode with topics from the last two weeks of 2005 & 2015. I had never met Anjan Katta before entering his apartment a few months back. It was some combination of office, shrine, and looney bin plucked from the Charlie Conspiracy episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia.Despite the absolute chaos surrounding us, the vibe was calm and the energy was high. Clearly this was a founder who had seen some things and had returned to share the lessons gathered through his journey. There's talk of startups navigating the idea maze but here I was, literally sitting in it. Thousands of post-it notes on walls, posters, and even kitchen cabinets. Hundreds of hand drawn diagrams expressing ideas mid-formation and processes being captured mid-design.Mid-conversation, Anjan belted out:“A real idea maze looks like insanity and feels like shit while you're in it!”Sitting in a physical version of what the idea maze for bringing Daylight Computer to life looked like was a powerful moment in understanding Anjan's experience as an often frustrated and overlooked founder. Over seven years ago, Anjan began a journey to reimagine the relationship we have with our screens. In doing so, his aim was to slow or stop the emerging health crises of time on screen and its impact on users emotional and physical health. Spurned by investors, he turned to over 100 angels to fund the company's progress to date. With a device now in production and shipping (when they're not sold out), there are lessons for every founder in this one. Particularly, chasing an idea and mission even when it's out for favor with VCs — maybe even especially those ideas. I hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as we enjoyed recording. If there's anything in hear that resonates with you, leave us a comment or share a clip. As always, thank you for your ongoing support of all we're doing at INDIE.— Bryce

Editors - Nona Khodai ACE and Tim Roche The Fantastic Four: First Steps sees editors Nona Khodai and Tim Roche reunite for the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The film also marks the first time the two have worked together since Marvel's live action series debut, WandaVision. Although each had worked with him separately before, WandaVision was the first time both Nona and Tim worked with director Matt Shakman on a Marvel project. The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place in 1964, as the world celebrates the fourth anniversary of astronauts Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm becoming the superhero team known as the Fantastic Four (Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing). But the celebration doesn't last for long as the four face their most daunting challenge yet as they defend Earth from Galactus and Silver Surfer. NONA KHODAI ACE A Southern California native and graduate of USC's Cinematic Arts school, Nona started her career as an assistant on such films as the Bad Robot production, Super 8. Her first foray as an editor on a "superhero" project came courtesy of showrunner Eric Kripke who brought her aboard the The Boys, where she would work with director Matt Shakman for the first time. Nona was twice nominted for an Emmy award for her work on Marvel's WandaVision, and nominated for another Emmy for Marvel's Ms. Marvel. TIM ROCHE Known for his work on comedy series like Silicon Valley and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as for his contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including WandaVision, Thor: Love and Thunder and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Tim has received five Emmy nominations for his work, including one this year for Welcom To Wrexham, a show that has already brought him an ACE Eddie Award. Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week.Catherine's library find is another of the parenting books we love to hate (or at least find fault with). It's called Hunt, Gather, Parent: What Ancient Cultures Can Teach Us About the Lost Art of Raising Happy, Helpful Little Humans by Michaeleen Doucleff. BONUS: Clark's rebuttal!Superman Review Superman was only actually beaten up once by ultraman a complete copy of Superman powers and all being completely controlled by lex Luther, and he only actually lost to him once in the very beginning. If you actually go to the movies just to see the hero beat the villain with no consequences and come out unscathed than your just a boring personRobots have been in the fortress of solitude since the 60s taking care of Superman if ever needed and they literally say in the beginning of the movie that ultraman was the first person to ever beat Superman in his 3 years of being a heroKrypto the superdog has been in the comics since DC comics adventure comics issue #210 which was released march 1955Krypto has been in 7 feature films, 9+ TV shows, and several cameos/shortsThe only other person to put Superman in a bit of trouble was an army of flying soldiers who got him close to being eaten by a black hole just by pretty much going limp and dragging him down, this was only because he was in a different dimension where the sun didn't exist and if anyone actually knows Superman knows that he gets his power from the sun so that means no sun, no Superman Lex Luther has always been crazy and he's also the one who pretty much started the war just because he wanted to have a reason to kill Superman, do you really want lex to be boring and just try to kill him? He is supposed to be one of the smartest men alive, I would be disappointed he didn't have a multi layered schemeThe only thing Mr terrific and Lois actually do is show Superman where the exit is the only actual physical combat Mr terrific did was punch a bunch of goons outside the portal Lois and the others in the space ship didn't actually do a single thing to help in the moment they literally just watched the fight while writing an article about lex being a bad guy Superman's “hero friends” didn't really help him that much like green lantern and hawkgirl helped stop the war in the Middle East while Superman was dealing with the world cracking open in metropolis The dog literally just ate a bunch of cameras that lex was using to pretty much control the evil Superman that's all he actually didHow was Lois a bigger hero she literally just wrote a paper about lex which jimmy olsen actually wrote more of honestly, so if he wants to say that Lois was a bigger hero than you can pretty much

After a short break, it's time to discuss the ridiculous plot points of both 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' and 'Abbott Elementary,' as the gang end their time there (14:57). Both hosts agree that the Apple TV+ 'Stick' had its best episode thus far, and they explain why (32:38). Despite the attendance of guests like Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah, Bill Gates, and most of the Kardashians . . . a source says Sydney was, quote, "the most sought-after person" to hang out with. AND FINALLYThe '90s weren't THAT long ago, but the culture moves fast. Some of the movies and TV shows that came out back then haven't aged well. 1. "Seinfeld": There's a lot to offend modern sensibilities, but someone specifically mentioned the episode where Jerry was allegedly assaulted by his dentist while he was under, and it was played for laughs. 2. "Doogie Howser, M.D.": Quote, "The first episode has an adult woman pretending to seduce him . . . The second episode is about an adult woman trying to get pregnant by him."3. "Will & Grace": Quote, "I could never get through one episode without feeling that my queerness was being used as a punchline . . . being gay was either silly, or you were doomed to be alone and sad."4. "Friends": Quote, "Fat jokes, gay jokes, everyone in New York is white inexplicably, Ross sleeps with a student, sleeps with his school librarian in high school, tries to kiss his cousin, violates Rachel's boundaries . . . etc." Another brought up the transphobic stuff involving Chandler's parents.5. "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air": This person REALLY went off on Uncle Phil. Quote, "Will was a teenager dating grown women every other episode, and Phil and Vivian just let it happen. "Phil claimed to be pro-Black but voted for Reagan twice, was ashamed of his background as a pig farmer, and detested 'lowly' and working-class Black people."He blamed Will for everything that went wrong, even if he had nothing to do with it. And he was sexist and controlling AF, trying to forbid a 25-year-old Hilary from posing for Playboy or Ashley from doing anything."6. "Mrs. Doubtfire": "Between the transphobia and the part where he makes a pact with the older two kids to keep it a secret from their mom, it hasn't aged well."AND THAT IS YOUR CRAP ON CELEBRITIES!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
