Dua is the most noble act of worship. It is our weapon against the struggles of this world. Not only does it make Allah (SWT) happy, but it will increase us in rank and we will be rewarded for it in the hereafter insha'Allah.

A short reminder of the reality of our temporary home in this life and what some of the consequences will be in there hereafter.

Hi! How you doin'? Wassup? What's shakin' bacon? Que pasa? Greetings are part of every culture and language. As Muslims we are given the salaam, a saying meant to express brotherhood and goodwill. Every interaction we make is a potential to gain blessings and create the feeling of community. In this short reminder, we are reminded of best practices when giving salam and an encouragement to build our community with this beautiful gift from Allah (swt).

Many of us have been lucky enough to grow up learning about Prophet Muhammad (S). But have we examined and studied our beloved Prophet's life in a way that makes us weep with love and admiration for him? Reawaken your heart! Learn of the man whose life was revelation and who exemplified perfection. Learn of the man who was the perfect family man, perfect counselor, and perfect leader. Learn of the greatness of this man through the stories of not just how he lead the ummah but how we tended to the needs of the child whose bird passed away and wept at the passing of the unknown woman who cleaned the masjid. Mufti Hussain Kamani left us with 3 assignments: love the sunnah, give 10 salawat upon the Prophet (s) in the morning and evening, and listen to the entire biography of the Prophet (s) the whole way through and revisit it next year. May Allah (SWT) keep us striving to get closer to Him and His messenger. In this short khutbah we are reminded that we are never alone and that we should never despair of God's mercy and forgiveness.

Allah didn't just say forgive people, Allah says in the Quran seize or grab forgiveness. Have we done our very best to grab forgiveness?

In this short talk by brother Adnan, we gain an appreciation for something we have been taught our entire life. Our purpose in life is worship. Worshipping the one God, our ila. But ila means more than just worship, it also means obedience. Our purpose of worshipping God through obedience is something many of us overlook. May we all, one day, become a nation of those who listen and obey.

All Prophets came with a radical message. They all tried to root out the cause of the problems the world faced. Prophet Abraham (A) superbly exemplified this by breaking through the veils of ignorance and idolatry of his people by going to the root of the problem and taking action. Brother Cyrus McGoldrick reminded us of the radical mission of Prophet Abraham (A) and challenged each of us to be radical ourselves. He wants us to be the people of positive change. It can be done and community is one of the best tools at our disposal. Eid is one of the ways we differentiate ourselves as a unique community. Its purpose is to strengthen the bonds between brothers and sisters and make our community communal again. And our speaker reminds us, it's not easy to be a community like it's not easy to be a family. But as a community, as a force united, change can happen. Question is, will we use Eid to get closer as a community and will we take the action needed to make positive change? Then he gave us 2 challenges. Firstly, to write down and re-examine daily a list of changes we want to see in the world before we leave and, secondly, to meet someone new. May we all use opportunities like Eid to unite as a community. May we be given clear vision like Prophet Abraham (A) to get to the root of the problem and have the courage to make positive change. May Allah (SWT) protect us and grant each of us the good of this world and the next.

Allah is our Creator who has many names and attributes. Amongst them is that He does not go back on His word. When Allah tells us obey Him and place our trust in Him so He may help us an assist us, He will fulfill His promise. But this is only when we truly trust Him and have the belief and faith that we should have. Conviction in anything is very powerful. So what about the Conviction in the Almighty.

The holy prophet said "Indeed Allah is pure and He only accepts pure." Only if our intentions, actions, and consumptions are pure can we only enter the paradise which is pure. Equally critical is consumption of food that is free from doubt, not from unlawful sources nor is it simply just forbidden in Islam. After all "you are what you eat."

Everyday we are moved one day closer to meeting our maker. In the process we are either spending our time in remembrance of Allah (s) or the devil. We are moving either closer to or further from the way of life prescribed to us by Allah, Islam. What about us? We all say that we want to attain paradise. But what progress have me made today? Did you take account for your actions yesterday? Let this be a reminder for all of us to change today.

Islam is about loving our Creator through obedience and submission. And just like anyone we love, the more the love grows, the more the desire grows to visit our beloved. So by worshipping the Sustainer and Cherisher throughout our life with prayers, fasting, and charity our love should grow to visit The One who loves us more than we can imagine. That is where we go for pilgrimage to visit the house of our Lord and ask for His love in return.

Humans are the best of creation. We have been given abilities beyond that of the angels. Allah (SWT) has given us the ability to get closer to him through gaining ilm. May Allah (SWT) grant us the taufiq to take full advantage of this ability and take the appropriate steps to gain the knowledge needed to practice Islam in the best way in every part of our lives. Jazakallahu khair brother Adnan for giving this lecture highlighting the importance of true understanding.
