Send us a textThis week we discuss Ian Hunter and his 1979 LP You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic. Hunter worked a long time to find success. His band Mott the Hoople were instrumental in advancing glam rock by giving it a rougher edge. David Bowie was such a fan of the band that he even gave them the song "All the Young Dudes" which became the title track for their most popular album, which he also produced. Hunter eventually left Mott the Hoople to concentrate on a solo career and made several albums with Bowie collaborator, and guitarist extraordinaire, Mick Ronson. The results were a series of fine albums, featuring Hunter's (admittedly limited, but expressive voice) against Ronson's classic Marshall stack sound. You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic not only features Ronson, but several members of Bruce Springsteen's E Street band, grounding the album with a solid foundtion. The song "Cleveland Rocks" became an anthem for the birthplace of Rock-n-Roll and "Ships" was even covered by Barry Manilow, becoming one of his biggest hits. But don't let the Manilow cover fool you, You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic is chock full of rock and roll energy and is considered by many as Hunter's crowning achievement. Gospel Daily with Josh Weidmann Never Alone: Finding Your Place in God's Family, Part 2Series: Unveiled Scripture: Mark 3:13-35 Episode: 1419 Scripture Summary: In Mark 3:13-35, Jesus appoints the twelve apostles, choosing them to preach, cast out demons, and be with Him. As His ministry grows, so does opposition. Some accuse Him of being possessed by Beelzebul, claiming He casts out demons by satanic power. Jesus refutes them with a parable about a kingdom divided, warning against blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which He says is an unforgivable sin. Meanwhile, His family tries to restrain Him, thinking He's lost His mind. When told His mother and brothers are outside, Jesus declares that those who do God's will are His true family. Key themes include spiritual authority, the unforgivable sin, and the redefinition of family through obedience to God.

In this message, Pastor Robey unpacks the incredible truth of God's omnipresence from Psalm 139. We often wonder if anyone sees us in our darkest moments, most unfamiliar places, or times of struggle — but the Bible reminds us that God is always with us. His presence brings both comfort and conviction: comfort because we are never alone, and conviction because His holiness calls us to live authentically before Him. This sermon challenges us to remember, practice, and trust in God's presence in every moment of our lives, so that even in the shadows we can walk in His light and strength.
I didn't plan to record another spiritual episode—honestly, I thought I was done after Episode 3. But something in my heart kept saying, “Someone needs to hear this.” So here we are.In this follow-up, I open up about my own wrestle with feeling like a hypocrite when I say things like “God bless you” or “I'll pray for you.” For so long, I thought those phrases were tossed out like small talk—empty and routine. But my own spiritual experiences have changed that for me. Now, they come from a place of sincerity, even if I'm still learning and far from an expert. This isn't about preaching. It's about sharing what I've lived. And if you take away just one thing from this episode (and the ones before it), I hope it's this: You are not alone. You never were. You never will be. You just have to look and listen.Listener Note: Whether it's in your faith, your movement, or your everyday life, community matters. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas,” says Randy Sutton, a man whose career with The Las Vegas Police was marked by heroism, split-second decisions, and more than a few brushes with death. Sutton, a retired Lieutenant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and a 34-year veteran of law enforcement, recently returned to the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast to share his story. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast interview, available for free on their website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more podcast platforms. Before joining the LVMPD, Sutton spent a decade with the Princeton, New Jersey Police Department. But it was his 24 years in Las Vegas, a city that never sleeps, that tested his courage and resilience in ways few can imagine. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. “There were multiple gun fights in my career, but one in particular stands out,” Sutton recalls in the interview. The incident involved an armed suspect wielding both a gun and edged weapons. “It could have easily cost me my life, for more reasons than one,” he says. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . That night turned into a nightmare of chaos, numerous shots fired by police and the suspect, a departmental vehicle crash, and a desperate effort to avoid getting hit. “I remember thinking, just keep moving, just keep breathing,” he says. The trauma from that moment, combined with other dangerous encounters over his decades of service, would later shape his mission to help other officers. Sutton's survival wasn't just luck, it was training, instinct, and sheer will. But the emotional scars lingered. “When you've been in that situation, when you've seen the worst of humanity and survived, you can't just go back to normal,” he says. That understanding led him to found The Wounded Blue, a National Assistance and Support Organization for Injured and Disabled Law Enforcement Officers. “Our mission is simple, make sure these heroes are never forgotten and never alone,” Sutton explains. Through support, education, assistance, and legislative advocacy, The Wounded Blue helps officers and their families navigate both physical injuries and the hidden wounds of trauma. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The Wounded Blue a National Assistance and Support Organization for Injured and Disabled Law Enforcement Officers. The Wounded Blue's Mission is to improve the lives of injured and disabled Law Enforcement Officers through Support, Education, Assistance and Legislative Advocacy. They can de-stigmatize mental health within the law enforcement community through Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Dedication to America's Law Enforcement Officers. Through The Wounded Blue's Peer Support Advocate Program, Community Outreach & Education, the Wounded Blue will ensure that they are NEVER FORGOTTEN and NEVER ALONE. They provide Support, Education, Assistance, Intervention, and counseling services to Officers and their families who have experienced incidents that have disrupted their lives. The Wounded Blue is an IRS approved 501(C)3 Charitable Organization. Your Donation is Tax Deductible. A prolific author, Sutton has also used his writing to bridge the gap between the police and the communities they serve. His book A Cop's Life: True Stories from the Heart Behind the Badge captures the deeply human side of policing. Another of his works, True Blue, is a compilation of stories from officers nationwide, accounts of gun fights, murder investigations, missing children, car chases, and the life-altering events of September 11, 2001. “These stories are about more than law enforcement, they're about humanity, resilience, and sacrifice,” Sutton says. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. As a nationally known media commentator and one of the most highly decorated officers in LVMPD history, with awards for Valor, Community Service, and multiple Lifesaving honors, Sutton's voice carries weight. But it's his vulnerability in speaking about trauma that resonates most. His story isn't just one of survival; it's a call to action. “I barely survived that night,” he says of the gun fight that could have ended his life. “But I'm here, and I owe it to those who didn't make it home to keep fighting, this time, for them.” You can follow Randy Sutton and The Wounded Blue on their website, their Facebook and Instagram, or listen to the full interview on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast's website, on Apple podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. This isn't just a tale of the Las Vegas Police, gun fights, and trauma, it's a reminder that behind every badge is a story worth telling. It's Black August 2025! And We are two FLEA days into commemorating its 46th year. Last year We laid down some powerful work to educate the public, tell the truth and share the tenets and practice of Black August which serve to uplift and empower the People toward liberation and self-determination. This work endures and seeks to preserve its integrity, and remains as crucial as ever. (We'll hear excerpts from last year's Prison Focus airing as nube is in Africa.). We will continue to pay tribute to our beloved New Afrikan Brotha Yafeu Iyapo, the embodiment of revolutionary love who transitioned to the ancestors June 24, 2025, Rest in Power, Brotha. We will bear witness to the expression of the seven principles of Ma'at: Truth, Justice, Harmony, Balance, Order and propriety and the powerful show of Unity and Love we have for one another, but that is so often vilified, manipulated, criminalized and distorted. This tribute, this spiritual acknowledgment and love up, is manifest through the Ministry of Never Forget, Never Again, Never Alone, created in the loving partnership between Queen Makini Iyapo, surviving on this earthly plane, and her husband, Yafeu Iyapo, and carries forward his legacy. Husband, son, brother, uncle, comrade, friend, mentor, fighter, lover of life and unapologetic New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalist Yafeu Iyapo lives on in us and with us. Through story and song we maintain our connection with you beloved Ya, One Love. These current tributes come from: Brotha Gha'is, Brotha Mutope, Brotha Geno and Brotha Samaki. Over the years, I’ve encouraged and prayed for many battling loneliness for various reasons: nursing home residents whose family members don’t visit, the widow who spends her days outside so as not to be alone in her empty house, ministry leaders who don’t have anyone to confide in, and homeless people who feel ignored and alone. Loneliness can strike anyone at any time. Isolating during the pandemic unfortunately, only compounded those feelings of loneliness for many. The US Surgeon General released an advisory in May 2023 alerting the public about the epidemic of loneliness. About half of U.S. adults say they’ve experienced loneliness, which can be as deadly as smoking a dozen cigarettes daily, according to the advisory. When Moses was getting ready to pass the torch to his successor Joshua, he wanted to make sure the Israelites knew they wouldn’t be facing any battles alone as they entered the promised land: “Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). He also reminded their new leader, Joshua, that “the Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (v. 8). And he concluded with words that can encourage us today. “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (v. 8). When we’re facing loneliness, let’s take comfort in knowing that God will never leave or forsake us.

One year - countless stories of resilience. In this special anniversary episode of Alex Perry on Fire, Alex opens up about the "river below the river"—those hidden struggles we all carry but never share, and why his twin brother Elliott's journey from rock bottom to finding light changed everything for their family. After a year of raw conversations, Alex has learned that everyone is paddling below the surface just to stay afloat, fighting battles no one sees, which is why he stopped being "just Alex Perry the real estate agent" and started sharing the truth. This episode is for anyone who's ever felt completely alonein their darkness, who has no one to turn to, or who's carrying burdens from family trauma and old survival patterns that no longer serve them. Alex share why finding your "play"—that thing that fires you up with pure joy—might be the key to transforming your life, just as it transformed his andElliott's. Whether you've been here since day one or this is your first episode, remember this: we are all in this together, your struggles don't define you, and you are never, ever alone.Your turn to start the fire.Like what you heard today on Alex Perry on Fire? In this episode of The Biggest Table, I converse with Michael Beck, a pastor, professor, and author, about experiencing God's love through community, especially in unconventional settings like tattoo parlors, dog parks, and burrito shops. Michael shares his personal story of childhood trauma, addiction, and solitary confinement, and how he found community and redemption. They discuss the benefits of 12-step recovery programs in fostering deep, supportive relationships and explore how these principles can be applied to build inclusive, loving, and spiritually nourishing communities. The conversation touches on the themes from Michael's recent book, 'Never Alone,' the epidemic of loneliness, and practical steps to create meaningful connections in today's digital and often isolating world.Michael Beck is a pastor, professor, author, and one of the rare leaders bridging frontline ministry with academic scholarship. Alongside his wife Jill, he has led multiple revitalizations and planted unconventional faith communities among those often overlooked. They currently serve as co-pastors of Compassion and St. Mark's UMCs, where they lead Open Arms Village, a holistic recovery housing program, and oversee a network of fresh expressions—worshiping communities that gather in places like tattoo parlors, dog parks, burrito shops, EV charging stations, digital spaces, and recovery centers. Beck also serves as Director of Fresh Expressions Florida, Director of the Fresh Expressions House of Studies at Perkins School of Theology at SMU, and Director of Fresh Expressions. His most recent book, Never Alone, explores how churches can address the epidemic of loneliness with the Gospel's radical promise of community.
