In the age of parity in hockey, there are so few things left that are relatively untapped to use as a differentiator. Enter: intuition. Having Sport Specific IQ is just another way of saying you are coachable. You can be put in any scenario and have a firm grasp of what to do. Having that knowledge helps you make decisions quicker because you know what your opponent is thinking before they even think it! That’s great intuition. That’s also a great advantage! Hope you like this episode, it’s something I’m super passionate about, because it’s the thing that has allowed me to play professionally for as long as I have. The great differentiator!

Hey guys, just a quick note on a very specific tactic, team bonding. One that is so often overlooked, but so important to the success of any team. Find time to get to know your teammates on a personal level and you’ll see that you’ll start to play a little harder for them, and they will know that you have their back in any situation; even when they’ve made a mistake. So so important to make others feel like you’ve got their backs, because it makes them more fearless and will lead to good results.

This was a super interesting conversation we got to have with Dave, who is a pro hockey player and also an aspiring business owner. Dave talks about a lot of things that athletes should be aware of, like the importance of learning new skills while you continue to play. His company Pro Sport Protection came to be because of a chance connection, that wouldn't have happened if he wasn't aware enough to take advantage of his network. Dave has also dominated the leagues he's played in throughout his pro hockey career, so it shouldn't surprise us!
Really excited for you guys to listen to this episode! Jordan is a fun guy, with a lot of perspective that he's built on an 11-year pro career thus far. From small town Alberta to Belarus and back, Jordan has seen a few things. Oh, and he's been a pretty darn good player over those years as well. But what's interesting is how he views things, and in particular what he's done about them and how he responds to adversity. Always calm and collected, Jordan's leadership has made him a valuable resource to his teams, and will continue to serve him well.
