This summer Jared and Ted joined forces at the Smart Thinking Leadership retreat and presented to hundreds of educators. Jared was a smash hit and his research, strategies, and ideas were quickly taken back into educational systems to support learning and a movement away from "edutech" We've done our children and teachers a disservice and it's time to admit it, fix it, and move forward! Take a listen as these two chat about the impact of technology on learning and then - -go get the rerelease and updated copy of his book "The Digital Delusion."
The Digital Delusion: How Classroom Technology Harms Our Kids’ Learning–and How to Help Them Thrive Again by Jared Cooney Horvath PhD Med. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GPR5NXSM Educator and neuroscientist Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath reveals why digital tools in school consistently undermine learning—and what parents, teachers, and schools can do to push back with purpose. Our children are struggling. Schools, once alive with human connection, are now dominated by screens and digital tools. The result is unmistakable: declining performance, fractured attention, and the slow erosion of rigorous thought. For the first time in recent history, children are falling behind previous generations on many key measures of cognitive development. In The Digital Delusion, neuroscientist and educator Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath reveals how the widespread use of laptops, tablets, and classroom software is undermining how children learn and develop. Drawing on decades of research, he provides practical tools for families to reassess device use at home, equips educators with the means to restore attention-rich learning environments, and helps schools make smarter decisions about technology. He exposes and dismantles the central myths driving the EdTech movement and lays out a clear path for putting people—not programs—back at the center of education. This is not a call to reject technology. It's a call to reclaim real learning. About the author Jared Cooney Horvath (PhD, MEd) is a neuroscientist, educator, and best-selling author who specializes in human learning and brain development. He is the creator of The Learning Blueprint, an international award-winning program helping educators and students understand how learning actually works. Jared has conducted research and taught at Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Melbourne, and has worked with more than 1,000 schools around the world. He is the author of six books, has published over fifty research articles, and his work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Economist, Harvard Business Review, and PBS's NOVA. He currently serves as Director of LME Global, an organization dedicated to bringing cutting-edge brain and behavioral science to educators, students, and communities.

If you've ever lost everything (a business, a marriage, your sense of who you are) this conversation is proof that the collapse isn't the end of your story. Rick Trimmer walks through the exact math he and his wife used to climb out of $640,000 in debt: the thousand-day stretch with no pay, the decade of living on a thousand dollars a month, and the brutal conversations he had with himself and his wife about what they actually wanted. If you're in the hole right now, or you're scared of ever being in it, this is the blueprint for how a man digs out without excuses and without quitting on his family. But this isn't just a comeback story; it's a lesson in delayed gratification and what winning the game really looks like. We'll cover how to build passive income, take advantage of opportunities that scare you, and chose freedom over the appearance of success. If you're tired of chasing a lifestyle you can't afford, or you're ready to start building something that actually lasts, this conversation gives you the mindset and the moves to get there. Steph unpacks a concept that came to her mid-launch: the balance between data and delusion. Data keeps us honest and pulls emotion out of our decisions. Ot's critical, and Steph is the first to insist you know your numbers. But there's a sneaky trap where a smart, anxious brain starts weaponizing the data mid-launch, cherry-picking the numbers to build a case for why it's all falling apart. This episode is about learning which mode to be in, and when. Prepare with data. Review with data. But once you've jumped out of the plane, you might as well believe the parachute will open.✨ Sold Out Group Programs

Narcissists don't see reality the way you do. Their grandiose sense of self can twist into a delusion so deep it starts to resemble psychosis — distorting truth, denying facts, and rewriting events to protect their fragile ego. In this video, you'll learn how covert narcissism fuels this disconnection from reality, why they truly believe their own lies, and how to recognize when a narcissist's delusion has crossed a line you need to take seriously. If you're trying to understand the mind of a narcissist and protect your own sense of reality in the process, this breakdown will give you the clarity you need.#narcissism #narcissisticdelusions #crazyhttps://youtu.be/eBAvqDIzz7c
Imagine being twenty-three, living in Shanghai, and deciding you want a column in the city's major newspaper—despite having zero journalism experience and absolutely no portfolio. That is exactly the kind of "audacious delusion" Sophie Main brought to the table when she showed up at their corporate offices week after week until they finally handed her a column just to stop her from coming back!In this incredibly refreshing, funny, and deeply honest episode, the strategist, public speaking coach, and author of the groundbreaking book Beyond Palatable sits down with Michelle to dismantle the polished social media lies of "overnight success" and "six-figure passive income". Sophie shares her raw journey from navigating a cutthroat journalism industry—where she faced the trauma of doing "death knocks" on grieving families—to running a highly successful, multi-six-figure business. She reveals how she recently landed an incredible publishing deal simply by having the courage to put her scrappy, half-formed ideas out into the world before she felt ready, all while running her company and "3D-printing a human being"!If you are tired of buying endless courses, outsourcing your self-worth, and waiting for the "perfect" time to start, this episode is your ultimate sign to take messy action and flex your courage muscle!✨ IN THIS EPISODE:00:00 – Introduction: Meeting Sophie, strategist, speaking coach, and author of Beyond Palatable.01:19 – Courage Before Confidence: Why waiting until you feel "ready" is a trap, and how putting scrappy ideas out there builds real momentum.03:18 – Audacity, Tenacity, & Delusion: How Sophie got a journalism column in Shanghai at age 23 with zero portfolio.11:17 – The Reality of Journalism: Why Sophie left a cutthroat local news industry after being trained to do "death knocks".14:34 – The Validation Trap: How marketing mechanisms and online content creators manufacture problems to sell you "fixes" you don't need.34:48 – The VAT Reality Check: Why viral posts rarely bring clients and how to easily spot fakers online.37:01 – Indigestion vs. Starvation: Why modern businesses actually fail due to overwhelm and "too much advice" rather than a lack of ideas.50:43 – Unpicking the "Superwoman" Ego: Navigating matrescence, identity shifts, and the transition into motherhood.59:05 – The "Big Stick" Illusion: Reclaiming real human connection and shifting your focus from online metrics to daily presence.1:02:01 – The Ultimate Dare: Auditing your "sorries" and refusing to outsource your worth to strangers.
The impact of screens on learning is great, and not always in a good way. The state plans to highlight the risks for screens in school, how technology impacts learning, what this means for kids and families, and what steps the legislators are taking to get screens out of the classroom. More information does not always create a better decision. Sometimes, it only delays the move that needs to be made. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why excessive analysis can paralyze entrepreneurs and why execution is the fastest way to uncover what the market actually wants. Spreadsheets can help you prepare. They cannot guarantee success. The only way to collect real data is to launch the offer, observe customer behavior, and adjust based on what actually happens. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why historical data cannot eliminate the uncertainty of entrepreneurship• How overanalyzing destroys speed and momentum• Why paying customers provide more valuable feedback than hypothetical research• How rapid execution and iteration create a competitive advantage The truth is simple: You cannot perfect a product while keeping it hidden from the market. Launch the first version. Collect real feedback. Fix what is broken. Improve what is working. You cannot steer a parked car. Execution generates the data you need to move forward. Hey lovers! We are so excited to share this incredibly potent conversation with the one and only Preston Smiles. Preston is a devoted husband, a father of four, a profound teacher, and a massive pillar in the personal development and men's work space. In this episode, we dive deep into the messy, beautiful, and deeply spiritual practice of long-term partnership and parenthood. Preston opens up about his personal journey—from facing a life-altering heart condition at 25 to dedicating his life to service—and how that shaped the way he shows up for his family today. We explore what it really means to hold boundaries with children through deep love and containment, why our partners trigger our hidden "outlawed parts," and how true relationships require us to burn down our fantasies of the "happily ever after" to build something real. We also have a deeply moving conversation about honoring the feminine, the profound biological journey women go through, and why our culture's fear of aging is robbing us of true eldership. This conversation is a massive expansion on what it means to be a devoted partner, parent, and human. Grab a coffee, settle in, and let's get into it. Considering the entire span of time that Gotama Buddha's Teachings have existed, over 2,500 years, the short timeframe of knowledge developed in the field of mental health is highly unfounded, unproven, and untested. In this Podcast, David will share his personal story about the 24 years he spent searching for answers to depression, bipolar, anxiety, and other symptoms classified as "mental illness" and how he found the answers to the elimination of all discontent feelings in The Teachings of The Buddha.——-Daily Wisdom - Walking The Path with The BuddhaDedicated to the education of Gotama Buddha's Teachings to attain Enlightenment.https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com(See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.)Group Learning Program - LIVE Interactive Online Classes, Book, Audiobook, Videos, Podcast and Personal Guidancehttps://mailchi.mp/f958c59262eb/buddhadailywisdomThe Words of The Buddha - Pali Canon in English Study Grouphttps://mailchi.mp/6bb4fdf2b6e0/palicanonstudyprogramFREE Book - Developing a Life Practice: The Path That Leads to Enlightenmenthttps://www.buddhadailywisdom.com/freebuddhabooksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DailyWisdom999YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DailyWisdom999Podcast: https://creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/buddhadailywisdom/Support our efforts to share The Teachings of Gotama Buddha with you and worldwide for all people using this link.https://www.buddhadailywisdom.com/supportbuddha#buddhism #learnbuddhism #enlightenment #dhamma #dharma #buddha #meditation #meditationretreat #meditationcourse
We also dive deep into the heavy, often misplaced guilt that comes with losing a pet, and discuss the practical, difficult reality of "sitting out life." While waiting for therapy or medications to reach a steady state, how do we begin to re-engage with the world? Join me for a raw, honest conversation about love, loss, and the slow climb back into life. In this episode, we are diving deep into Seasons 1 through 3, dissecting why this raw, unfiltered "new money" magic worked so well, and exposing the masterclass in projection that is Shereé Whitfield. We break down Shereé's historic, three-time run as a peach holder and examine how her "fashion show with no fashions," imaginary acting career, and constant shade toward actual business moguls (looking at you, Tags boutique) exposed a deep-rooted spirit of envy. Why did she turn up her nose at tangible, wealth-building infrastructure while building an empire based entirely on unreturned contractor phone calls? We've got the receipts. Plus, we look at the performative perfection of DeShawn Snow's brief tenure and set the stage for our upcoming deep dives into the rest of the foundational cast. What's Coming Next in the RHOA Retrospective Series: The NeNe Leakes Files: How the Queen of Reality TV clocked the pretension of Atlanta society, weaponized "new money" volatility, and altered pop culture forever. The Kandi Burruss Blueprint: Operational infrastructure vs. aesthetic wealth, and the reality of building a lasting empire. The "Friend Of" Rotation: Dissecting the iconic, volatile revolving door of Atlanta's side characters and how they fueled the main cast fire. Reflection and Practice What is your relationship to concentration from a meditative perspective? How do you cultivate it in daily meditation practice? What is the right amount and quality of effort? Are states of concentration the end goal, or are they a means to an end? What is the real purpose of concentration? This recording was edited and prepared for publication by volunteer Alan Smith.
West Bengal recently removed eggs from school meals and replaced them with soya. On paper, it looks like a simple change in a menu. In reality, it opens up much bigger questions. Why does one egg create so much political controversy in India? Why do governments keep debating what poor children should eat? And why does food so often become a battlefield of caste, ideology, religion, and pseudoscience? To answer these questions, I sat down with public health physician and nutrition researcher Dr. Sylvia Karpagam. We discuss the politics of eggs, the myths around nutrition, caste and food, the right to nutrition, school meals, and why scientific evidence often loses to ideology. If you enjoy the conversation then please become member of this podcast. Going to do a little grab-bagging up front and then we'll welcome back Megan Fox for a big update in the Bricks and Minifigs/Reckless Ben LEGO saga...from there we'll segway into the dreamy part of this evening's program. I read a pair of articles recently that pulled a lot of thoughts together for a show—one that I hope taps into the collective memories and experiences of the audience. An interesting study on daydreaming lead me to a coma dream case in which a girl lives a whole second life while she was "away", and when she awoke, she was desperate to find her three children that she cared for in the other world. I'd like to spin this all into a topic of not only dreams that felt real, but how we construct reality itself...and how much, if at all, are these experiences tied to something much more real than we can imagine? What are the conditions that enable a country to become great — or great again? The Trump administration — and other right-wing movements in other countries — offers a vision of greatness based on power and domination abroad, and a mix of shared national and religious stories at home. And that vision is clearly appealing to a lot of people. Liberals in the U.S. and elsewhere have been struggling to tell a story that can compete. What story would Yuval Noah Harari tell? One of the through lines of Harari's best-selling books — “Sapiens,” “Homo Deus,” “Nexus” — is the huge role that stories play in shaping the arc of history, driving humans to cooperate on a grand scale to achieve great things, or divide violently against one another. So I wanted to ask him about the stories that the U.S. and Israel, in particular, seem to have embraced right now. What does history tell us about the power of this story? And why does the liberal story seem so weak right now? Mentioned: Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari Unstoppable Us, Volume 3 by Yuval Noah Harari “Understanding AI” by Timothy B.
