I originally met Jeremy Tappero as the singer & guitarist for Attention, a band I was a big fan of and that I was excited to get to start working with. Over the past 15 years, we’ve gotten to work on records together for his own bands and bands he’s made records for, we’ve toured together, and we’ve been great friends. In this episode, we dig into his upbringing and getting into music, playing in bands such as The Gloria Record, The Stereo, and Animal Chin, and then into the history of his longtime band Attention. We go through their entire discography, and the stories that go along with each record from recording to touring. Jeremy is currently out on the road playing bass in Soul Asylum through February and March. Check out a show if the tour comes to your area, and say hi to Jeremy if you’re there. Once he gets back from tour, we will have part two of our conversation covering the studio side, and talk about making records, as well as his time in bands such as Gratitude and And We Danced, and touring with the likes of The Jealous Sound and Mineral. I remember buying Far’s “Water & Solutions” in 1998 and being captivated by the voice I heard. This record helped me understand the different directions my musical tastes could go, and a voice that could take me so many different places. More than twenty years later, I still listen to it regularly. Throughout that time, I’ve remained a huge fan of all his work, we’ve worked on creative projects together, and I’ve been able to call Jonah a friend. We caught up recently to talk about the past two decades of his work. We dig into the origins of Far and the making of “Water & Solutions”, onelinedrawing and his solo career, the Gratitude record, the "Water & Solutions" 20th Anniversary Tour, and so much more. Thanks for listening.
