After graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications from Sacramento State University, Dan moved to Kerman, CA to work on a ranch for his now father-in-law. Working on his father-in-law's ranch, Dan learned quickly about the farming industry and realized his heart's desire was working with primarily almond, pistachio, grapes, and cotton. He also gravitated toward research, development, and applications primarily on nutrition programs, irrigation, water treatment, and regulations that come with the agricultural industry. In 2010, Dan took what he learned in the field and went to work for an irrigation company and began working with water treatment products and drip irrigation systems. It was there that he learned the importance of maintaining irrigation systems. Shortly after, Dan was intrigued and wanted to be part of the fast-growing company in Meras. In 2012, Dan went to work for Meras and quickly realized the relationship between water treatment management and service, and its effect on crop yield and crop health. Dan has helped Meras build a team of like-minded individuals with similar mindsets in doing what is right for the grower. Dan's “hands- on “experience allows him to continue to grow and learn about what is new in the industry. Water quality, irrigation systems, water related challenges are always changing. Dan is constantly keeping up with not only new rules and regulations, but also research and development on new products and equipment to properly treat the ever evolving water related issues. Dan is licensed by the Department of Agriculture as a Qualified Applicator in Aquatics. Additionally, he continues his education and licensing in irrigation maintenance, pumps, food safety, chlorine dioxide training, and water treatment chemistries. Dan started out installing equipment, servicing irrigation systems, and remediation micro irrigation systems. He has worked his way through the Meras org chart to involve service, sales, managing the sales team, President of Meras Water Solutions, and now CEO. His passion for creating a good customer experience continues to be his main goal in developing and improving water treatment programs. — This episode is presented by American AgCredit. Overcoming Confusion and Misinformation in Meeting the Needs of Children on the Spectrum While I'm used to guiding health-minded audiences deep down the Rabbit-Hole of water topics, today's discussion with Karen will be light on science and heavy on practicality. It aims to explain the challenging path for families who are intent on providing the safest and healthiest water for children on the Autism Spectrum and other Special Needs. Choosing water for consumption (drinking, beverages and food preparation) and water for bathing water for your family is daunting task because of the minefield of misinformation and hype that is associated with suppliers of water treatment for consumers. You cannot trust the Internet, your local water dealer, big-box stores or persuasive TV promotions. It is unconscionable and embarrassing to me – someone who spent the past 50+ years in the water industry that it has has not kept up with the current state of water contaminants AND the growing assaults on the declining state of health of humanity. Based on decades of observing homeowner's selection of water treatment technology, I conclude that more than 80-90% purchase and install inadequate systems for their and their children's health needs. Introduction The human body is 50% to over 90% water by weight depending on the stage of life. Not too long ago it was revealed that if we were to segregate all the types of molecules that make up the body, H2O would amount to 99% of them! An adult body contains roughly 40 liters of functional water derived from more than a billion years of evolution in the sea. No other single factor had such a profound influence on the animal kingdom's biological design and function. There are two primary compartments in the body: The Extracellular fluid (ECF) and the Intracellular Fluid. So, our 50+ trillion cells are floating in the Extracellular fluid (the Terrain) and contained within them is the Intracellular fluid where all the action is. It is the biochemical quality of the Terrain that governs overall health. Virtually all the great physiologists over the past 2 centuries agree one central concept – “The Terrain Is Everything” Understanding healthy hydration and how to maintain it Maintaining proper hydration is not only about consuming enough water. In fact, consuming an excessive amount of water can interfere with optimal hydration. Many factors can jeopardize the body's ability to maintain healthy hydration (illness, diarrhea, excessive work or exercise in hot climates, an imbalance in the quantity and variety of electrolytes). Key indicators of dehydration are varied and can include Lightheadedness or dizzy feeling Dry mouth and tongue and cracked lips Less frequent need to urinate Muscle cramps Thirst Frequent headaches Fatigue or drowsiness Urine has a darker color Eyes more sunken than usual The key physiological measure in achieving proper hydration is having sufficient water inside our cells – referred to as intracellular water. Sufficient pure water with the proper quantity and mix of electrolytes is key to achieving optimal hydration. A very rough daily guideline for those in good health is to consume – as water or sugar-free beverages (e.g. coffee, tea, vegetable juices, etc.)... Send me a messageIn this episode of the Climate Confident Podcast, I'm joined by Brian Sheng, CEO and co-founder of Aquaria, to explore a potential solution to water scarcity. Brian shares how Aquaria is tackling one of the most pressing challenges of our time by harvesting water from the air. We delve into the technology behind atmospheric water generators, which create clean water through condensation, akin to the droplets on a cold beer glass on a hot day.We discuss the practical applications of these generators, from individual homes to entire communities, and the potential for scaling up to cities. Brian highlights their initial projects in Texas and Hawaii, where homes are now fully powered by solar energy and generate water from the atmosphere. We also touch on the energy efficiency of these units and their integration with solar power to ensure a sustainable supply.A significant takeaway is the importance of water security and how Aquaria's technology can offer a fast, cost-effective alternative to traditional infrastructure. George Greene, CEO of Water Mission, shares grew up in a faith-driven family, the son of two water engineers and entrepreneurs. After a devastating hurricane hit Honduras in 1998, his family began to lay the foundation for Water Mission, building and installing water solutions in the country. The calling eventually led them to sell their thriving family engineering consulting business to serve those with poor access to water around the world. Water Mission has now served over 8 million people across 10 countries in 3 primary contexts: long term community development, disaster relief, and refugee camp stabilization. In each context, Water Mission partners with local churches to introduce the gospel and trauma-informed healing to those they serve. Every water solution also involves comprehensive community development and remote-monitoring technology to ensure longevity of each project. Water Mission has a strong culture of generosity. Healthy Hydration - Discover the Science of Optimal Hydration https://healthyhydration.com/?ref=melk According to the EPA your water is considered safe if the level of contaminants meets a set of standards that were established in 1996 by the water quality act, unfortunately these standards have not been updated for more than 20 years, and because of this there are chemicals not being regulated like PFAS. This unregulated chemical and many others are now causing one of the biggest health threats to humans and animals according to Water Quality Officials. Gary Greenfield is the Owner of Greenfield Water Solutions and is deeply fascinated by water. He believes that water is the lifeblood of the earth and all living things. Gary's interest in water developed early in life but it wasn't until late in life that his fascination flourished into something more fruitful than he could have imagined. He says, "Everything is water and water is everywhere, as is energy but water isn't energy although water is energized. To put it succinctly, everything is water and everything is energized."Gary is aware that tap water in today's world contains many contaminants and impurities that are harmful to human health and energy. That's why he created Greenfield Water Solutions to go beyond just water purification. His Structured Water Filter Units are engineered to mimic the natural water cleansing and charging processes that occur within the hydrologic cycle. These filters not only purify water, but also create clean, healthy, and life-enhancing water by combining traditional physical filtration methods with innovative vortex and energy transfer principles. The filters are designed for easy installation by a plumber and maintenance by the customer requiring only a yearly filter change. No other maintenance is required, and the system is designed to last a lifetime.Visit the show notes for more: https://www.BelovedHolistics.com/podcast/124Learn More & Connect with Gary Greenfield:Website: https://www.greenfieldwater.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/greenfieldwater My discount code for Gary's products: 10% off with code BELOVED10Sponsorship made possible by:AHCC - code BELOVED for 10% off on Immune IntelBIRTHFIT - code BELOVED to get one month FREE in their B! What does water want? What happens when we allow water to be water? Author Erica Gies explores the concept of Slow Water in her new book Water Always Wins: Thriving in an Age of Drought and Deluge. Slow Water approaches are unique to each place and work with natural systems. Slow Water is key to greater resiliency and offers multiple benefits including reducing floods, droughts, and wildfires. The Slow Water movement asks where our water comes from and examines the impact that our water treatment methods have on the environment, other people, and animals. In this episode, Erica talks about Slow Water projects around the world and what happens when water is allowed to slowly flow, meander, and linger on the landscape. We discuss the indigenous view of water as a “who,” a relative, and a being worthy of respect and compare it with the industrial idea of water as a commodity or a threat. We discuss how this skewed modern world view affects our relations with water, influences how we build our infrastructure, and imperils life on the planet. Water has critical relationships with creatures, insects, plants, microbes, rocks, and soil. Many animals including water voles, prairie dogs, and the rock star of the water world, beavers can be our allies in the Slow Water movement. Wetlands, bogs, and marshes are also allies when it comes to slowing water and sinking excess atmospheric carbon. Peat is the super sinker of CO2- covering only 3% of the earth and holding 30% of the soil carbon. Wetlands restoration is a powerful climate change mitigation tool and asset to the Slow Water movement. Have you heard of the Hyporheic Zone, also called the “Liver of the River?” This ecotone found in rivers and streams is a hidden universe rich in biodiversity, fertility, and action. Erica shares a story about a Hyporheic Zone restoration project in Seattle that is having profound impacts on water quality and stream health. It is becoming increasingly obvious that our attempts to control water are failing. Our cities and concrete infrastructure speed water away as quickly as possible, yet water seems to be reclaiming its territory more frequently. By participating in the Slow Water movement, we can cooperate with nature and water to create a more abundant world for all. Erica Gies is the author of the new book Water Always Wins- Thriving in an Age of Drought and Deluge. Erica is a National Geographic Explorer and an award-winning independent journalist who writes about water, climate change, plants, and critters for The New York Times, Nature, The Atlantic, and many other publications. Erica cofounded two environmental news startups, Climate Confidential and This Week in Earth. You can find Erica online at: EricaGies.com and SlowWater.world/
