From the iconic to the obscure, we're peeling back the layers of artistry that define the metal genre. Join us as we explore the visual masterpieces that have not only captivated us but have also left an indelible mark on the metal community. In this explosive episode of *The Metal Maniacs Podcast*, hosts Jay Ingersoll and Modd are joined by two heavy hitters from the scene: Luke Forton, the vocalist of **Reinventing Yesterday**, and Jeremy McClarey, the frontman of **Snake Out**. Together, they introduce Jay and Modd to the world of **hardcore**, diving deep into the extreme metal subgenre that has shaped everything from metal to punk and beyond. **Hardcore 101: The Roots and Rivalries** What comes to mind when you think of "metal"? Heavy riffs, brutal breakdowns, and epic solos? Now, what about "hardcore"? Luke and Jeremy help us explore the defining characteristics of hardcore as a genre, its connection to punk, and how it differs—and sometimes overlaps—with metal. We dig into the age-old debates: *Why can't we all just get along?* **The Evolution: From Punk to Metal** Hardcore's journey through music history is rich with influence. From its roots in 1980s punk with bands like **Black Flag**, **Minor Threat**, and **Bad Brains**, hardcore began blending into the metal world, influencing a wide range of extreme genres. We discuss how crossover thrash emerged, with bands like **Slayer**, **Metallica**, and **Anthrax** adopting hardcore and punk influences to shape the sound of thrash metal in the 80s. As hardcore evolved, it birthed new subgenres like **metallic hardcore** in the late 80s and 90s. Bands such as **Cro-Mags**, **Biohazard**, **Integrity**, **Madball**, and **Hatebreed** became central figures in the hardcore scene, mixing thrash, hardcore, and metal to create a new wave of aggressive, high-energy music. **The Blurring Lines of Metalcore** The line between hardcore and metalcore has always been fuzzy. As metalcore rose in popularity, many fans and critics argued about what truly defines the genre. **Proto-Deathcore and Beyond** As hardcore and metalcore evolved, so did the more extreme subgenres. **Deathcore** emerged as a brutal hybrid of death metal and hardcore, and while it's often debated whether it retains any hardcore essence, the influence of hardcore can still be traced in bands like **The Acacia Strain**, **The Red Chord**, and **Bleeding Through**. However, hardcore's reach didn't stop with metalcore or deathcore—it also inspired the rise of extreme bands in various niches of the underground scene. Luke and Jeremy give us their personal recommendations of modern hardcore bands, such as **Drain**, **Ingrown**, **Knocked Loose**, and **Candy**, discussing how they continue to carry the torch for hardcore with fresh, innovative sounds. **The Sound of Hardcore Today** In the second half of the episode, we dive into the current state of hardcore, where bands like **Twitching Tongues**, **God's Hate**, **Gates to Hell**, and **Fuming Mouth** have brought the genre to new heights. Whether it's the blistering speed of **Enforced** or the pummeling grooves of **Pain of Truth**, hardcore continues to push the boundaries of aggression, intensity, and emotion. Jay and Modd get to react to snippets of some of these bands' latest tracks, which leads to some fascinating conversations about the evolving sounds of hardcore and how the genre is both changing and staying true to its roots. The energy and raw emotion in these tracks are undeniable, and you'll hear firsthand the passion both our guests and hosts bring to the discussion. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the deep roots of extreme music. Whether you're a seasoned hardcore fan or new to the scene, Luke and Jeremy break down everything you need to know about the genre's evolution, its influence on modern metal, and how it's still thriving today. So, tune in and get ready for an unforgettable ride through the world of hardcore! **Don't forget to subscribe** to *The Metal Maniacs Presents: The Last Week on Earth*, where we bring you all the latest and greatest in metal, hardcore, and beyond! BAD WOLVES and GOD FORBID guitarist Doc Coyle joins us again on the latest edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast This week, we have an exclusive interview with BAD WOLVES' guitarist, Doc Coyle. BAD WOLVES has returned with their fourth studio album, "Die About It," their second to feature their second vocalist, Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz, formerly of THE ACACIA STRAIN. DL joined the band in 2021 after a tumultuous split with the original lead vocalist, Tommy Vext. Although the band's lineup has evolved since their inception and their breakthrough cover of THE CRANBERRIES' "Zombie," Laskiewicz's robust, powerful vocals have seamlessly filled the void left by Vext, which manages to preserve the band's signature sound so well. As for Doc Coyle's other project, GOD FORBID, the New Jersey-based melodic thrash-metal band reunited for a momentous performance at last year's Blue Ridge Rock Festival on September 10, 2022 at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia. This marked GOD FORBID's first live appearance in over nine years. Since then, the band has made occasional appearances at events like LAMB OF GOD's "Headbangers Boat". In addition to his work with BAD WOLVES and GOD FORBID, Doc Coyle has been on the road recently with the horror-themed metalcore act ICE NINE KILLS, filling in for guitarist Dan Sugarman due to medical reasons, which has kept the musician exceptionally busy. And, let's not forget about his other musical venture, THE WEDDING BAND, which boasts notable members Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo from the legendary band METALLICA. In the podcast, Doc discusses the new BAD WOLVES album "Die About It", what's happening with GOD FORBID, touring with METALLICA and much, much more.

Sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnhttps://www.creepingdeath.net/Introducing their latest single, "The Common Breed," Texas-based death metal practitioners CREEPING DEATH are ready to rock the metal scene. Accompanied by a captivating music video, this track is part of their highly anticipated Boundless Domain LP, slated for release on June 16th via MNRK Heavy.Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz, guitarist of Killswitch Engage and renowned for his work with bands like As I Lay Dying, The Acacia Strain, and Underoath, Boundless Domain is a sophomore album that exudes immense power, depth, and intensity. From start to finish, it delivers a relentless onslaught of heavy riffs and is guaranteed to captivate metal fans. In the wake of the unfortunate passing of local heroes Riley Gale of Power Trip and Wade Allison of Iron Age, the band members—guitarist Trey Pemberton, singer Reese Alavi, bassist Eric "Rico" Mejia, drummer Lincoln Mullins, and guitarist A.J. Ross, III—found inspiration in revisiting their favorite metallic hardcore influences. Boundless Domain features future death metal classics such as the crushingly heavy and fast-paced "Intestinal Wrap," featuring George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of Cannibal Corpse. Another standout track, "Vitrified Earth," showcases CREEPING DEATH's impressive songwriting skills, with Alavi's vocal delivery demonstrating impeccable cadence and phrasing, all while maintaining a brutal edge. Towards the end of the album, listeners can expect a touch of atmospheric elements, with mesmerizing guitar effects, harmonies, and intricate time signatures.Speaking about their latest single, "The Common Breed," Pemberton shares, "This music video perfectly captures the energy of a CREEPING DEATH live show. It was a blast to make, and we are grateful to all our friends and family who came out and went wild for us." After a successful European/UK tour supporting Revocation and Goatwhore earlier this year, followed by a recent North American run supporting Carcass, Municipal Waste, and Sacred Reich, CREEPING DEATH is ready to hit the road again with the Boundless Domain Summer 2023 tour. This headlining tour will consist of two parts and will feature support from two different groups. Part 1 kicks off on June 16th in San Antonio, Texas, coinciding with the release of their new LP, and will cover the Western half of the United States, concluding on July 1st in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joining CREEPING DEATH for Part 1 will be Year Of The Knife, Fleshrot, and Saintpeeler. After a brief break, the band will embark on Part 2 of the Boundless Domain Summer 2023 tour on July 10th in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This leg of the tour will see CREEPING DEATH conquering the Eastern half of the country until July 21st, concluding in Fort Worth, Texas. Enforced will join them on select dates during Part 2, along with Upon Stone and Saintpeeler. Tickets for the tour are now available for purchase on creepingdeath.net. Check out the list of confirmed tour dates below and make sure to catch CREEPING DEATH's electrifying performances. In the realm of heavy metal, there exists a subgenre that pushes the boundaries of intensity, aggression, and sheer brutality. It is a sonic onslaught that evokes a visceral reaction, both captivating and polarizing listeners. This genre is none other than Death Metal.Emerging in the early 1980s, death metal carved its own path in the metal landscape, distinct from its predecessor, thrash metal. While thrash focused on speed and technicality, death metal delved into darker territories, exploring themes of death, horror, gore, and existential dread. It was a musical rebellion, a cathartic release This episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and presented to you by The Barn Media Group.
