We share some stories of how things did not go according to plan, but looking back we wouldn't have it any other way. In addition to reflecting on why we think God allows adversity in our own lives to shape us. Please let us know what you took away from this conversation by writing a review or telling us on Instagram! Books we recommend (links go to messages on the topic): Single Dating Engaged Married by Ben Stuart The New Rules for Love, Sex, and Dating by Andy Stanly Here are the questions mentioned in the episode to help you evaluate: Relational questions: How do they treat their parents/friends? What are their friends like? How do they handle relational conflict with people? Are all their friends of the opposite sex? What is their last boy/girlfriend like? Why did it end? Have they ever told a significant other they love them? If so why are they not together anymore? Life management questions: Do they handle money well? or are they in major debt and STILL spending? Can they keep a job? Where are they headed? Why? Are they just talking about what they want to do or are they actually pursuing it? How well do they handle life when it's not going their way? Character questions: Are they honest? Are they hard-working and consistent? Do they have bad habits they say they will break and never do? Do they have a criminal record? Spirality questions: How spiritual are they really? Don't listen to what they say... watch what they do? When you are around them, are you challenged spiritually? Is there life-changing as a result of their relationship with Jesus? Thank you to College@12stone for these questions! In this podcast, we talked about how camping can help you connect with God. We believe the farther you are away from the busy normal life the easier it is to hear God's voice. Camping can be one of the best ways to do this by getting out in the wilderness for an extended period of time God can meet you there. We mentioned the reason why we like camping so much and a few ways to get into it if you have not been before. We hope this encourages you to go camping whether that's just around the corner or across the country. Please let us know how you get into camping! In this podcast, we talked about the racial divide within the United States and our duty as Christians to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God in the pursuit of racial reconciliation. We are joined by Tyler Allison, our good friend, and brother in Christ. He presented us with a Christian perspective on racial reconciliation and walked us through some of his experiences as a black man living in the United States. Together we had a conversation over Imago Dei, which is the truth that all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God. Lastly, Ty shared his encounters with God in nature and ended the conversation with a prayer seeking healing for both individual souls and for our nation, which can only come through Christ. There is a lot that goes into planning a road trip across the county. In this week's podcast, we break that down for you. We hope this helps you in the planning stages of your next Godventure. We are joined by Holly Janco and Calvin Go who were members of the Godventure road trip this past summer that sparked the idea for this podcast. We hope this encourages you to go and take a trip of your own! To have a successful road trip you need: Itinerary that is very well developed. (we will share ours with you on the last podcast in this series) A budget with every cost you can think of including emergency funds.
