In this week's episode, I'm joined by my brother, pastor and author Tim Timberlake to dive into his newest book, The Bumpy Road to Better. We talk about what it really looks like to walk with God through pain, doubt, and disappointment, when faith feels exhausting and the process feels slow. Tim opens up about seasons of deep hardship, learning to lead through pain, and discovering the difference between information about God and revelation from Him.Together, we unpack what it means to trust God in the wilderness, surrender doubt before it becomes an idol, and let Him turn wounds into scars that testify of His healing power. If you've ever wondered where God is in the waiting or felt weary in your faith, this conversation is for you.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this powerful new episode of The Public Square Podcast on the Pursuing Faith Network, Iggy sits down with his new co-host Pastor Mike for a deep and honest discussion about Islam — from a Christian perspective. They unpack the origins of Islam, explore how it connects back to Christianity, and confront some of the biggest similarities and differences between the two faiths. But this isn't just a comparison — it's a real, respectful conversation about why Islam can seem appealing, how Christians can engage with it thoughtfully, and where the lines of truth and theology clearly divide. From stories of personal encounters to moments of raw conviction, this episode challenges listeners to think deeply about what they believe — and why.
Today we're discussing the debate between feminists and non-feminists, and why I side with the non-feminists for biblical reasons. Just because women can do some of what men do doesn't mean we should. We'll also continue discussing the Charlie Kirk case, Erika Kirk's strange behavior, why being a widow doesn't automatically make you innocent, and why it's deeply concerning that TPUSA refuses to distance itself from Israel, even as Charlie's final words publicly challenged Israel, Judaism, and the control of figures like Ben Shapiro over the conservative movement.
Send us a textThis episode was originally released as a Patreon-only bonus episode on the 5th of March 2025.Episode Summary:In this special bonus episode, I explore the political thought of Hannah Arendt—particularly her seminal work The Origins of Totalitarianism—from a biblical and theological perspective. Arendt's analysis of 20th-century totalitarianism is as relevant today as ever, but what happens when we place her ideas alongside the timeless truths of Scripture? We begin with a look back at the philosophical split between Plato's “contemplative life” and the “active life” exemplified by Socrates and Aristotle. Arendt's critique of Western philosophy's retreat from political engagement opens up rich questions for Christians: Is our faith a private, introspective affair—or a public, active witness?Drawing from The Origins of Totalitarianism and The Human Condition, this episode reflects on:The spiritual and moral roots of totalitarian regimesThe dangers of ideological conformity and the erosion of personal responsibilityThe biblical understanding of action, identity, and communityThe importance of grounding public and political life in divine truthWe also examine Arendt's critique of Enlightenment thought, her categories of Labor, Work, and Action, and how they hold up against a biblical vision of human purpose and flourishing.Key Themes:Faith in Action: Christianity is not merely a contemplative retreat—it calls us to be salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13–16).The Heart of the Problem: Totalitarianism is ultimately a manifestation of humanity's fallen nature, not just failed politics.Identity in Christ: Unlike Arendt's political anthropology, the Bible teaches that identity is found not through action alone but in relationship with God (Genesis 1:27, Galatians 3:26).Political Systems and the Gospel: Both capitalism and Marxism fall short of the biblical vision for justice, mercy, and dignity.True Freedom: Jesus declares, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32)—a freedom deeper than political liberation.Scripture References:Matthew 5:13–16John 8:32Genesis 1:271 John 4:8Matthew 4:4Matthew 6:19–20Micah 6:8Acts 2:44–45Galatians 3:26Featured Thinkers:Hannah Arendt – Political theorist known for her works on totalitarianism, authority, and the nature of political life.Plato & Socrates – Contrasting visions of philosophy and public life.Stanley Milgram – Psychologist whose experiments reveal the dangers of blind obedience.Takeaway:Arendt's analysis challenges us to reflect deeply on the nature of evil, the meaning of action, and the role of individuals in resisting oppressive systems. But as Christians, we recognize that no amount of political engagement can change the human heart. Only Christ can do that. And through Him, we're called not just to think, but to live faithfully in the world—witSupport the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com
If you've been walking with In Totality for a while, then you know I'm passionate about talking through the raw parts of our faith journeys, the in-between spaces where trust feels tested and growth feels slow.In this week's episode, we're diving into the process of sanctification—that slow, beautiful, and sometimes frustrating journey of being shaped into Christ's image. We talk about what it looks like to hold on when you'd rather hurry, to trust God when you don't understand His pace, and to find peace in the “not yet” moments of your story. This conversation unpacks what it means to be renewed day by day, even when you're tired, even when it feels like nothing's changing, and how God uses the waiting, the wrestling, and the weariness to make us whole.Lean in, and let's talk about the slow work of sanctification together.Listen now, you don't want to miss this one!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Dave and Joel double back to chat about Marylee's favorite verse from Deuteronomy, and the conversation takes an interesting turn……What, if any, place does 'AI' have in a Christian's life?
Pastor Emeritus Doug Pratt reflects on an ancient story from Genesis about a powerful empire that fell apart from within. Could this be a warning for America today? And how should Christians respond in a divided society?
Okay ya'll! I am so so excited about today's episode! If you've been tuned into In Totality for a while, then you know I LOVE the The Chosen series— and so I'm thrilled to share this week's episode with the creator of the show and his wife— Dallas and Amanda Jenkins! We dive right into what it truly means to find strength when you have none left to give and talk about the moments when your faith feels fragile, your prayers feel empty, and you're walking with God through weariness instead of wonder. This conversation explores how weakness can become holy ground, the very place where grace meets surrender and God's power is made perfect in our limitations. We share an honest look at what it means to be carried by God in seasons where you can't carry yourself, and how even in exhaustion, He is still faithful, still near, and still working all things for good.If you've ever felt unseen, undone, or unsure how to keep going, this episode is for you.Listen in now, you don't want to miss this!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Today in Current Events from a Christian Perspective:Trump is accused of literally demolishing the White House. What is real in this story? Did he just get tired of living in the old house and decide to finally upgrade the White House to Trump Tower 2?Or is there something more going on from both sides?Yes, this is a silly story that we really should not care about, but believe it or not, this illustrates a higher theological point that we will get to if you stick around. I'm joined by Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell for a powerful conversation about what it means to suffer well in seasons of warfare. In this episode, we unpack how God uses pain to refine our hearts, reveal hidden places of brokenness, and draw us closer to His presence when life feels heavy. We talk about how to discern what battles are worth fighting, how to stay silent when the Spirit says “be still,” and how to see purpose in the storms we never asked for.Pastor Philip shares deep biblical wisdom on navigating rejection, spiritual attack, and the tension of being both blessed and broken, often at the same time.If you're feeling weary from the fight, misunderstood in your calling, or ever wondered where God is in the middle of your suffering, this conversation will remind you that even here, He is working something holy.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Justin shares biblical insight on engaging the culture without losing compassion, and how the posture of our hearts reveals what we truly believe about Jesus. If you've wondered how to respond when the world feels divided, or what faithfulness looks like in a polarized time such as now, this conversation will meet you right where you are.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Listeners will be captivated by the vivid descriptions of devastation, as Clint recounts the catastrophic effects of a nuclear strike, including the immediate loss of life and the ensuing chaos. In this episode, Haley and Dustin are joined by Shayne and Sheila Pitcock, a husband-and-wife Christian life coaching team and founders of Journey 2 Unity, a coaching practice specializing in individual and marital growth. Their story is one of pain, perseverance, and ultimately, God's healing restoration. Sheila shares how she came to know the Lord after growing up in a rules-based, legalistic environment. Shayne tells how he found hope in Christ after years of loneliness and the heavy burden of shame he carried from childhood. Through surrender, healing, and holding fast to God's promises, the Pitcocks found healing and restoration both personally and in their marriage. Hey ya'll! This week I'm continuing my conversation with Dr. Eric Mason to conclude our discussion around his new book, Rebranding the Church. We talked about the power of giving leaders in the church the opportunity to repent through conversation, and pursuing unity in a world where division is often on display.Dr. Mason shared why discernment is crucial in these last days, how to recognize the difference between immaturity and destructive false teaching, and why teachability and discipleship are vital for every believer. We explored what healthy churches look like, how conflict should be handled biblically, and how unity and purpose anchor us in God's design for His people. If you've wondered how to navigate conflict with grace and truth, or longed to understand what true purpose in Christ really looks like, this conversation is for you.Share this with someone who needs the reminder that God calls us not only to believe but to embody His truth, living as a church marked by repentance, grounded in unity, and rebranded for His glory in a watching world.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Christian singles ask us this often: What can Christian couples do sexually before marriage? Is masturbation together ok? Another question I hear often is: Is it a sin to have sex before marriage? In today’s age of modern relationships, many Christian couples find themselves navigating the intricate boundaries of intimacy before marriage. Traditional Christian teachings emphasize the importance of preserving sexual purity, and not why Christian couples should not live together before marriage. Today in Current Events from a Christian Perspective:This year, in rapid succession, we have lost John MacArthur, James Dobson, Charlie Kirk and Voddie Baucham. We know they are all with Jesus, but for us on earth, this is a heavy blow. We are mourning down here for our lost brothers, but heaven in rejoicing, AND, God is moving in the hearts and minds of this generation. In this episode of In Totality, I had the privilege of sitting down once again with Dr. Eric Mason as he shared insights from his upcoming book - Rebranding the Church. Together, we unpacked what it means to live as ambassadors of Christ in a society that's always watching.Dr. Mason shared his perspective about why the church needs to be re-presented to the world, how our daily lives can reflect Christ's ways, and what it looks like to lay down our freedoms for the sake of the gospel. We explored the beauty of enjoyment as a spiritual discipline, the dangers of overindulgence, and how our witness can either draw people closer to Jesus or become a stumbling block in their faith. If you've ever wondered what it means to represent Christ with integrity and truth, questioned how to navigate cultural norms faithfully, or longed to understand the deeper call of being an ambassador for the kingdom, this conversation will speak directly to your heart.Share this with someone who needs the reminder that God isn't after surface appearances, He's after a church rebranded by His holiness, marked by truth, and sent out to reflect His light in a watching world.Visit my Amazon storefront to purchase Rebranding the Church - https://www.amazon.com/shop/immeganashley?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_aipsfshop_1363892N471VZ9CPZXG7_1&language=en-USSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

At the Women Ignite Success Summit 2025 in Kingston, Jamaica, I was so honored to share what God had been doing in my life during that season. I share how His holiness has changed me, why intimacy with Him is the greatest miracle we can ever know, and what it truly means to give Him all of ourselves as a living sacrifice. If you've ever wrestled with control, struggled with letting go of bitterness, or longed for God to meet you in a deeper way, this message is for you.Share this with someone who needs the reminder that God isn't after just part of your heart, He's after all of it. Lord protect us, keep us, bring comfort and assurance to the Kirk family, and send us evermore to proclaim Your death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins. Article at 1517: Video version
1 Corinthians 7 The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk.” Singleness is not a lesser state in God's eyes; rather, every follower of Jesus Christ, whether single, married, engaged, or widowed, has been called to grow in our relationship with Him, serve Him obediently, and live as His faithful disciple. Stay with us now as Dr. Reeder takes us to 1 Corinthians 7 and brings us today's teaching … PART 2 of his message entitled: What About Singleness?: A Christian Perspective.
In this episode, I sit down with acclaimed writer and poet Kathleen Norris to talk about her deeply personal new book, Rebecca Sue. The book tells the story of her sister Becky - born with brain damage at birth - whose life was marked by both difficulty and transformation, humor and resilience. Kathleen shares what it was like to grow up alongside Becky, how storytelling became a way of honoring her full humanity, and why persistence was necessary to bring this book into the world. Along the way, she reflects on grief, community, the role of faith, and the ways we learn to see people not through labels or limitations, but in the fullness of who they are. This is a conversation about love, loss, and the surprising grace that emerges when we pay attention to every story - even the ones we're tempted to overlook.Kathleen Norris is the award-winning poet, writer, and author of the New York Times bestselling books The Cloister Walk, Acedia & Me: A Marriage, Monks, and a Writer's Life, Dakota: A Spiritual Geography, Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith, The Virgin of Bennington, and several volumes of poetry. Exploring the spiritual life, her work is at once intimate and historical, rich in poetry and meditations, brimming with exasperation and reverence, deeply grounded in both nature and spirit, sometimes funny, and often provocative.Widowed in 2003, Kathleen Norris now divides her time between South Dakota and Honolulu, Hawaii, where she is a member of an Episcopal church. She travels to the mainland regularly to speak to students, medical professionals, social workers, and chaplains at colleges and universities, as well as churches and teaching hospitals. For many years she was the poetry editor of Spirituality & Health magazine. She serves as an editorial advisor for the monthly Give Us This Day from Liturgical Press, and writes for a weekly e-newsletter, Soul Telegram: Movies & Meaning with her friend Irish storyteller Gareth Higgins.Kathleen's Book:Rebecca SueSubscribe to Our Substack: Shifting CultureConnect with Joshua: jjohnson@allnations.usGo to www.shiftingculturepodcast.com to interact and donate. Stay with us now as Dr. Reeder takes us to 1 Corinthians 7 and brings us today's teaching … PART 1 of his message entitled: What About Singleness?: A Christian Perspective.

This week, I'm sitting down to answer questions from The Village fam about faith and friendships! I'm answering everything from learning how to love people well when they're not walking with God, to discerning if it's really the Lord speaking, or just our emotions. This conversation is honest, vulnerable, and rooted in scripture. Embracing Your Season: Raising Littles and Understanding Teens with Paige Clingenpeel
Talking with kids about sickness, grief, and death is never easy—but it's essential. In this episode, counselor and speaker Paige Clingenpeel joins producer Mike Segovia to share honest, practical ways parents can walk their children through these difficult moments. Paige opens up about her own health journey, the questions kids naturally ask, and how parents can give age-appropriate, hope-filled answers without needing to have it all figured out. Together, they discuss how children process grief differently than adults, why honesty matters more than perfection, and how modeling faith in hard times points kids to Jesus. As Paige reminds us: “God has a different view than we do. He sees the bigger picture… and He is still a good God, even in this.”Episode 62-Hope in Grief with Dr. Curt Thompson: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2271776/episodes/16440828 Paige Clingenpeel: PaigeClingenpeel.comQuestions About the Podcast? Today in Current Events from a Christian Perspective:Meanwhile in the UK, a man gets off a plane just like every other time, except this time there are 5 armed law enforcement officers there to arrest him. Is this the guy who forged checks and pretended to be an airline pilot causing a world wide manhunt for this dastardly impersonator? No. Oh, is this the known person who has barely evaded capture for months and is finally captured in London? Oh, no. Ok, this is a dr~g runner who is finally nabbed because they discovered his secret identity. Still no???Oh, no what happened here is that Graham Linehan, comedian and author posted on social media, some mildly offensive words about how men should not be allowed to pretend to be women and play in sports and go in bathrooms and such. For that heinous crime, he was arrested at gunpoint in an airport and detained in such a stressful way that his blood pressure rose so high he had to go hospital. In this week's episode, I felt led to share from my heart about one of the greatest callings and challenges God has given me, parenting. With my kids starting a brand-new school year, I found myself wrestling with questions we all ask as parents: Have I done enough? Am I discipling them well? Am I pointing them to Jesus in the way I should? In the middle of that anxiety, God reminded me that He loves my children even more than I do, and that discipleship isn't about perfection, it's about living in totality with Him, every single day.Deuteronomy 6 gives us clear instructions on how we should parent as believers and in this episode I talk about what it means to train up our kids in the Lord, not just on Sundays, but through the way we live, the conversations we have, and the love they see modeled in our homes. If you've ever felt the weight of raising children, wondered if you're getting it “right,” or longed for practical ways to weave faith into the rhythms of your family life, this one's for you.Share this episode with another parent who needs the reminder that they're not walking this journey alone, God is faithful, and He's entrusted us with His children for a purpose.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hey Fam! This week's episode is one I've been sitting with for a while, because it's straight from something God has been working on in my own heart, learning to bring everything to His feet.If you've ever found yourself running around doing all the things for God but feeling distant from Him, you're not alone. I've been there, serving, pouring out, checking every box, and still missing that closeness my soul was craving. In this episode, we're looking at Mary and Martha's story in Luke 10, and what it really means to choose intimacy before activity. Hey Guys! This week's episode is extra close to my heart because I'm joined by someone I know y'all are going to love hearing from — Jordan is on the couch with me! What started as just working together has turned into something so much deeper — she's truly become family. Our story is one of grief, friendship, discipleship, and the kind of connection that only comes when God brings two people together for His purpose.Whether you're a young Christian trying to walk with Jesus, someone who cares for a loved one with special needs, or if you've been searching for real, Christ-centered community — this episode is for YOU. We talk about how our friendship reflects Ruth & Naomi's story, following Jesus in your 20s — when it's hard, awkward, or unpopular, caring for someone with special needs while still trusting God's plan, and how God can use us in our own families and networks to spread the gospel and make disciples. This one is full of God's faithfulness, and the kind of joy that only comes through the journey. I'm so grateful for Jordan and I can't wait for y'all to hear her heart! “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” - Luke 9:23In this episode, I'm diving into something the Lord has been pressing on my heart: Jesus didn't call us to comfort, he called us to carry a cross.I share a story that started off as a fun little birthday bike ride… and turned into a full-blown sermon from the Holy Spirit. What I thought would be an easy, scenic trip ended up showing me so much about the reality of the Christian walk, it's not easy, and it's not supposed to be.If you've ever felt tired, or caught off guard by how hard following Jesus can be, I want you to know, you're not alone!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This week I sat down with Norris Johnson III and we talked about what it really looks like to serve God when you're spiritually empty, and how the Acts 2:42 conference became a turning point for him, a moment where the Lord met him in the middle of burnout and reignited the fire he thought he'd lost.As we unpacked his journey, we dug deep into what it means to die to self and to truly walk in sonship instead of striving to be used by God. We also explored the weighty call to be a “living sacrifice” like Romans 12 teaches, the danger of blending culture with Christianity, and how sometimes God will protect us from the very blessings we're not ready to carry. This episode doesn't just inspire, it challenges and calls us back to the altar.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
