Once again, the ladies of the PATH Pod find themselves in the Pacific Northwest on their Positive Approaches To Health road trip. During this episode they are gifted time spent with a delightful young Dietitian/Doula by the name of Carly Knowles. Carly specializes in holistic postpartum care for new mamas and families including nutritional counseling and private chef services. These three gals talked quite a bit about culinary medicine, an emerging evidence-based field that blends the art of cooking and food with the science of medicine. They also salivated over Carly's cookbook, The Nutritionist's Kitchen, a comprehensive guide that includes over 60 seasonal, whole food recipes. It is way more than a cookbook – it is a resource guide for anyone trying to embrace a whole food, plant-based diet. Carly's brain power cannot be overlooked but it is her heart that shines during this conversation as she talks about her love of helping new mamas recover from pregnancy and birth. Check out Carly, her nutrition and doula services, along with here cookbook here.

Travel Gluten Free Podcast Episode 158 Rerun: Tips on Camping Gluten-Free Since many people have been camping for their COVID vacation, I wanted to share with you great gluten-free food prep tips for creating meals, camping snacks, and food storage when you're camping. I've learned these experiences the hard way by making mistakes while on the road and eating out of the back of my car or at the campfire. Take steps to eliminate the hassle and expending energy on clean up when you're camping with these camping COVID-19 tips! Gluten-Free Snacks for Hiking If you are going hiking and need hiking snacks, the most efficient way to pack these is to buy single servings and put one type of snack in each Ziploc bag - this is one of the expenses I will incur because Ziploc is sturdier than other brands of plastic storage bags. Marinating Gluten-Free Foods An easy and efficient way to prepare your marinated food is to take your favorite gluten-free salad dressing and place your meal to be marinated into a double Ziploc. If you are using tofu, make sure to use firm tofu and plan to eat the first or second night, as tofu can fall apart quickly. Also, make sure to cut in thick slabs to be more sturdy. For a quick and easy marinade, take your food to be marinated, add favorite salad dressing, place in double Ziploc, close bag, take all air out, then seal. Keep cold until ready to use. Gluten-Free COVID Camping Soups To create easy soups, prep and blend your spices ahead of time and put them in an air-tight container. Label your container. Use dried spices instead of fresh if you are not going to use them in the first two days. Then, bring along canned items that you are going to use to make your soup. Make only the amount you need for one night - storing leftovers is time and energy-consuming. Happy 30th Birthday to Our Sponsor Kinnikinnick! Fan favorite Matt (from Australia) joins Ben and Burke to discuss his recent motorbike trip around Hokkaido. Despite the trip being cut short by bad weather and a modeling gig that came up, he describes some amazing spots he was able to see in eastern Hokkaido, and then gives details on the strange things that occurred as he explored a spooky abandoned (and supposedly haunted) old school in the desolate town of Yubari. We also discuss the almost free houses that small towns in Japan are offering to attract potential residents, a recent fire at a fireworks factory in the woodlands of Otaru, living in the countryside, and much more.Previous episode mentioned: The Wacky World of Japanese MascotsVoices in Japan sponsors:Bearfoot BarA variety of Japanese made craft bottled beers. Kina Pickett's path is an unusual one. He moved out west from Vermont to chase big lines on his skis, becoming a reputable name on the big-mountain pro circuit. He went on to co-found the creative production agency Helio, and then parlayed his experience there into the collaborative ideation workflow platform, Zppr. Kina is a definitive example of the modern-day entrepreneur -- taking his experience from one gig, professional big-mountain skiing, and building tech-focused ventures off its back. Most recently, Kina spent the heart of the Covid-19 pandemic traversing the country in an Airstream trailer, family of four in tow. In partnership with Matador, Kina dubbed the journey the Beyondland Roadtrip. He's here to talk family travel, an endless road trip during a global pandemic, and why learning to manage risk is the most important factor in creating the life you want to live. Along the way we cover boondocking, how to take time alone on a family road trip, and what to do when your kids just want to turn around and head home.In Hot Takes, Tim and Eben discuss how their social anxieties play out on airplanes, and whether or not it's ok to take furniture off the street corner when you're in your 30s. In this episode of the California Now Podcast, host Soterios Johnson interviews three travel and lifestyle influencers and gets them to share their top tips and must-dos while road-tripping across the state. First, Johnson connects with Amber Mamian, a Temecula-based mother of six and the founder of the family travel website Global Munchkins. She talks about her family's recent journey from Hollywood to Oceanside, with a fun-filled stop in Huntington Beach. Whether it was indulging in a cotton candy dessert in the shape of Marie Antoinette's wig, or exploring the California Surf Museum, she says the whole family was enthralled (and behaved admirably) from start to finish. Next, Johnson talks to Francesca Murray, the travel writer and influencer behind One Girl One World. Murray recently embarked on road trips in Southern California and the Central Coast, and she offered fresh insights from both. From the luxurious shops of Laguna Beach to the chill vibes of Catalina to the breathtaking vistas of Big Sur, Murray says you feel like you're traveling the world within the state's borders. Finally, Johnson chats with Henry Wu, a San Francisco–based photographer and co-founder of This Life of Travel, who recently took a mini-break in Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Wu tells Johnson about a few must-visit places in wine country, and also shares some expert-level tips for taking stunning, Instagram-worthy photos of it all.
Grandma Joy (of “Grandma Joy's Road Trip” fame) is a spunky 91-year-old adventurer who's been traveling the country with her grandson, Brad for the last chunk of years. Their goal has been to try and visit all 63 U.S. National Parks and they've only got one to go now! After you hear some of Grandma Joy's pearls of wisdom, you'll see why she's become something of a celeb in her small Ohio town after being on the Rachel Ray show and recently being profiled in People Magazine. She's living like there's No Time to Waste, encouraging all of us to just “give it a whirl” and I couldn't agree more. @grandmajoysroadtrip More at www.notimetowasteproject.com or follow IG @notimetowasteproject

This episode is all over the place. It starts with a discussion on some old technology (Blackberries FTW), then goes to St. Maarten and the low flying airplanes over the beach. Somehow they talk about President Joseph R. Biden's middle name being Robinette, it segways to a quick chat on being religious and it all ends with road trips. So yeah, buckle up and get ready, we discuss it ALL on the longest Bowl Chat episode EVER.
Conversation 60: Road Tripping with Stephanie Stuckey Stephanie and I took a trip down memory lane for this episode but also discussed how her brand is being found by a new batch of fans. For those who don't know South of the Border – it is a roadside attraction on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. Stephanie recalled rubber alligators dunking birds, among other nostalgic items. Roadtrips bring National Lampoon's Vacation to mind. Stephanie is a huge fan of Gary Vaynerchuk and Seth Godin I never knew about Muffler Men until Stephanie described them to me, along with the Lunchbox Museum in Columbus, Georgia. I think it is really cool that Stuckey's is sponsoring the Gravel Roll Series and I love that Stephanie used a bike for commuting. I had to check out the Radio Flyer E-bike she mentioned. Stephanie dropped mentions of a few nostalgic brands including Moon Pie, Little Debbies (I know most people think of the Oatmeal Crème Pie but I was always a fan of the Pecan Spinwheels), and the famous Claxton Fruit Cake as well as Stephanie's favorite, GooGoo Clusters. Next time you are on a roadtrip, check out a Stuckey's.
