A week ago I went on a road trip with my parents to Saskatchewan, which is about a 5 hour or so drive from home. Like the title says, I became triggered a few times over the course of 2 1/2 days. It had been nearly 7 years since the last time we all went together and stayed together, usually this is not something I enjoy. With my parents aging and my mother having some health issues making life much harder, my father doesn't always know how to handle things in a constructive and healthy manner. My extended Family also caused me to become triggered, which really sucks because I had not seen many of them since before the pandemic started and I was looking toward to it. Watching Football and discussing politics 99% of the time will lead to conflict and tempers rising, which of course is one sure way to make me become triggered and ruin the experience. Dave and Chris kick off the episode by discussing three moments in time they'd like to travel back to. Ask Dave asks: Has Dave fallen out of love with some of his signature dishes? Dave talks about one of his most famous dishes, the Momofuku pork bun, and how he no longer wants to eat it or prepare it, and he draws a parallel to musical acts that have to play their hits. Fred has become known as the nation's favourite maitre d' and TV personality. He initially wanted to be a chef, but having decided that the repetitive nature of professional cooking would stifle his creativity, he switched his attention to the front of house and has never looked back. Fred worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in both France and the UK, and rose to fame back in 2013 on Channel 4's BAFTA-winning matchmaking show First Dates, where his warmth and charm was a tonic to the nerve-wracked daters entering the first dates restaurant.A very successful TV career has come off the back of that and he's become a well-known and in-demand presenter, as the presenter of Remarkable Places to Eat on the BBC, and and he also travels the world with Gordon Ramsay and Gino D'Acampo on ITV's Gordon, Gino and Fred's Road Trip series.Thank you to our sponsor Deliveroo for supporting us this season and helping us to bring the show to you every week.Don't forget to come and find us on Instagram and Tiktok @desertislanddishes Hosted on Acast. In the heat of the moment, when your child is melting down, you're on display, or you're just overwhelmed and exhausted, the question that is likely running through your head is "What's wrong with this child?" But, it's the wrong question to ask. It's okay if you've asked this before. We all have. Don't beat yourself up. It happens to all of us. You're not alone. In this episode we discuss this and what the RIGHT question actually is. And the right question has the power to change EVERYTHING- your response, your attachment to your child, the level of trust you have with them, and even your resiliency as a caregiver! Toni travelled solo during this leg of the PATH Pod journey, taking a short jaunt down the west coast to SanDiego, CA. She had a lovely conversation with Dr. Sabrina Falquier, a board certified internal medicine, culinary medicine and lifestyle medicine physician who was a previous guest on the show in October of 2022. The two of them discussed Doctors+ Premium, a podcast Sabrina hosts on Apple Podcasts. They also take a dive into culinary medicine, one of Dr. Falquier's great passions where she spends a lot of time bridging the silos that exist between allopathic and alternative medicine. She peels back some of the culinary medicine layers, touching on the training that enables her to suggest food and spice substitutions to help meet patients where they are and to bring a sensitivity to their cultural roots. She shares how to participate in a culinary medicine appointment and how it fits into the Lifestyle Medicine paradigm. She also looks forward by sharing where she thinks this area of medicine is going in the future – becoming more mainstream with medicine shifting to a prevention model where food is front and center, and most importantly, paid for! You can see her work firsthand through the powerful documentary The Kitchenistas, visit her website, or follow along @SensationsSalud on social media.
