Court and CVH give their unique insights on the weekly happenings in sports
This is it. The end of The Most Basic Cable Podcast. Sometimes goodbyes are sad, but not this one. Court and CVH are looking towards the future and bigger and better things for their listeners. They are launching a new podcast venture. Salute Your Sports can be found at saluteyoursports.net, on Twitter as @SaluteYourPod, and is available for download on both iTunes and the Google Play store. Please join them! They couldn't leave without one more run with the old TMBC flow. This week they are talking the NCAA tournament, Lonzo & LaVar Ball, and the Raiders making the jump to Las Vegas. Thanks so much for listening to The Most Basic Cable! This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
We've got the World Series! We've got NFL week 8! We've got the start of the NBA Season! Throw in some NCAA Football too! Court and CVH are coming out in the midst of the Fall Sports Vortex. They're checking in on the first 5 games of the World Series and Terry Francona's gum chewing habits, the current college football landscape and the Heisman frontrunners, NFL Week 8 (maybe pro football is getting fun again?), and the first week of the NBA season including Russ and LeBron gunning for the Triple Double season. Court and CVH are bringing you their NHL Season Preview this week. But first, there is some other business to take care of. Producer JC is back this week as lead off with an MLB Playoffs discussion and then some quick hits on NCAA and NFL Football. They wrap the show up with their discussion of the upcoming NHL season. The Oilers have lots of buzz as Connor McDavid dons the Captain's C, the Penguins' title defense has taken an early season hit with Crosby's recent concussion diagnosis, and the Tampa Bay Lightning look poised to bring home the Cup after near misses in the last two Playoffs. The Most Basic Cable is going real minimal this week. No producer, two topics. Court and CVH are baseball fans again as the one-and-done Wild Card format leads to two incredible baseball games as the Blue Jays treat us to a walk-off blast and MBL Playoff assassin Madison Bumgarner does his thing as the Giants take down the Mets. From baseball they hop over to NFL Week 5 as they pick against the spread and take an NFL temperature check at the quarter pole of the season. Spoiler Alert: The NFL is more unpredictable than ever. CVH and Court are talking loads of football this week. The NFL has two exciting rookie QB's, a ton of parity, and some coaches ready to get canned. College Football has been brilliant this year and its only getting better. This weekend features three Top-10 matchups, led by a battle of the two most electric Quarterbacks in the country when Louisville and Clemson clash on Saturday night. CVH gives us his World Cup of Hockey update and Court, CVH, and a mic'd up Producer JC imagine a bar fight between the teams of captains leading their teams into the Ryder Cup this weekend. Football..football as far as the eye can see…. This week's The Most Basic Cable is football centric as CVH and Court dive into Week 3 of College Football and Week 2 of the NFL. Early returns show that college football is “way more fun” and “worth watching”, whereas NFL football can be “kind of a drag” and is mostly “just a bunch of flags and injuries”. From football your hosts and Producer JC move on to Hoosiers 30th anniversary and their favorite sports movies. Finally, Court, who must've lost a bet or something, lets CVH give his World Cup of Hockey update. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
The Most Basic Cable is kicking off a new era this week. CVH and Court are joined by their new producer, JC and took their podcast to Facebook Live for the first time. Their kicking off this new era with a discussion of Week 1 of the NFL Season - The Patriots keep doing Patriots things, Jack Del Rio has all the balls, and the Lions are maybe going to be ok?. Next up they shift their attention to College Football(44:00). The first two weeks have been dynamite and there's a lot of gushing over Jim Harbaugh and the resurgent Michigan Wolverines. Finally CVH has a few quick hits on the US Open(57:00) and the World Cup of Hockey(1:03:00). He's doing all he can to get Court hooked on the finer things in life. Let's take a knee as CVH and Court are back for Part 2 of the NFL Season Preview. They pour one out for Tony Romo as they lament the underwhelming NFC East. Teddy Bridgewater was still healthy at the time of this recording, so please forgive their enthusiasm for the Minnesota Vikings as potential NFC North Champions. The NFC West should be super exciting and they should've probably just skipped the NFC South. They've got win total predictions, division winners, and their early season Super Bowl Prediction. Put down your charts, take a break from your mock drafts, stop saying “PPR” and dig into The Most Basic Cable's 2016 NFL Season Preview. Court and CVH are tackling the AFC in this episode, the first of two, as they offer up their thoughts and predictions on the impending NFL Season. Is this the year the Patriots miss the Playoffs? How will RGIII fair in Cleveland? When will Bill O'Brien be their friend? Is the AFC West the most fun conference in the NFL? They discuss all of this, predict win totals and playoff teams, and more! Football is here! This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
Court and CVH are saying goodbye to the Olympics with a deep dive into their favorite moments, the stupidity of Ryan Lochte and the dumbest athletes of all time (31:00), and a post mortem on the underwhelming, yet still Gold Medal winning, performance of the US Men's Basketball Team (51:30). After the Olympics they are ready to turn the page and face the upcoming NFL season with a mixture of excitement, confusion, and even a little disdain (58:00). Finally, they dive in to the fightsport world with a quick recap of SummerSlam and UFC 202 (1:14:00). This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
