On today's show, Pat and the boys rejoice about being one day away from NFL football and look at the line as it continues to move in the Buccaneers direction, whether or not it's a good thing that everyone is in the same boat about being on the Bucs -8.5, how Covid could play a bigger role in the NFL this year with people testing positive the night before games or a few days before, and last night's Hard Knocks finale and why Pat is a big fan of Dak Prescott, and how it looks like he and Mike McCarthy have quickly bonded. Joining Pat and AJ Hawk for Coach Us Up Wednesday's, which will be a recurring conversation every Wednesday for the duration of the football season, was an NFL and college coach for 33 years, Pat's former Head Coach with the Indianapolis Colts, Chuck Pagano. Pat, AJ, and Chuck chat about what rookie Head Coaches are thinking going into this weekend, his thoughts on Bucs vs. Cowboys, what a guy like Tom Brady does to change an entire organization, what the worst part of the preseason is for an NFL coach, what he's been up to these days, and everything else am NFL coach might be thinking about before the first week of the NFL season (40:30-1:05:16). Later, Pat and AJ Hawk chat about who they like in the Thursday Night Football matchup, tease who their Super Bowl Predictions might be, chat about AJ and General Bob Carpenter's lunch plans from earlier today, and the first book, The Alchemist, from the Aaron Rodgers bookclub jumping to #1 on Amazon's best sellers list (1:06:48-1:28:05). Make sure you subscribe to youtube.com/thepatmcafeeshow and listen every day on Mad Dog Radio, Sirius XM Channel 82. We appreciate you all for listening, come and laugh with us, cheers.
On today's episode, Jason brings you his official NFL preseason predictions on the eve of the 2021 season. Starting in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills and Kansas Chiefs appear to be locks of the century to win their respective divisions. The AFC North is the arguably the toughest in the conference, but an easy schedule will be the reason why the Cleveland Browns win the division and the Baltimore Ravens settle for a wild card berth. The AFC South is a dumpster fire and things are setting up very nicely for the Jacksonville Jaguars to become the next team to go from worst-to-first, while the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos ride stout defenses and game-managers at quarterback to the final two wild card spots. In the NFC, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers should be able to roll their rather weak divisions. The San Francisco 49ers have the deepest roster in all of football, and that should be enough for them to win a very tough NFC West. What's more, as mentioned previously, most of the teams in the conference are mediocre at best, so Jason is predicting that all four NFC West teams - 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals - will make the playoffs. And if you thought that was crazy, wait until you hear who he's picking to win the Super Bowl... Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
