Catherine Matt and David were joined by special guest Pam Shriver to analyse two completely different women's semi-finals and look ahead to tomorrow's men's semis. In Part 1 we discuss the gripping match between Amanda Anisimova and Aryna Sabalenka, a tight, three-set tussle that felt on the edge until the very last point. We talk about where the match was won and lost, whether Sabalenka got her tactics right, and what Anisimova did to carry herself over the line.Part 2 (40m44s) - Anisimova will meet Iga Swiatek in the final, who was utterly dominant against a seemingly compromised Belinda Bencic. We discuss Swiatek's progress on grass and how her own success has surprised her at this tournament. Former Obama speechwriter and bestselling author David Litt joins Dave Prodan on The Lineup to talk about his newest and most personal project yet, It's Only Drowning: A True Story of Learning to Surf and a Search for Common Ground. Litt opens up about how a pandemic-era battle with depression led him into the ocean, and how a mismatched surf adventure with his brother-in-law Matt became an unlikely bridge across political, personal, and cultural divides. From his first freezing New Jersey paddle-outs in a 5/4 wetsuit to wipeouts in 8-10 foot Zurriola in Spain, Litt shares a raw, humorous, and deeply human journey into surfing from the outside in and explores how surfing restructured his sense of time, identity, and connection. What's next for the teams who fell in the conference finals? Is the US Open too hard? Come check out what the guys have to say.
The British & Irish Lions survive Sydney with a slippery win against NSW Waratahs 10-21. Join Graham Simmons and former 2013 & 2017 Lion Jonathan Davies on The Quick Tap as they dissect the good, the bad & the rugby. "Simmo" and "Foxy" reflect on a rough game, reacting to the Lions helter-skelter handling, striding set-piece, the Waratahs jackling prowess and what it's like to be coached by Andy Farrell. Is this why Owen Farrell's experience was called upon? Which combos will face the Brumbies next week? Don't miss this analysis of the tour's fourth match and what it means for the path to the Wallabies series. "Simmo" worked for 25 years as Sky Sports' rugby union reporter, and went on 5 Lions Tours. A blockbuster Friday for British tennis came to a close with Emma Raducanu producing one of her best performances since her US Open title run in 2021, pushing Aryna Sabalenka all the way in two tight sets under the Centre Court lights. Join Kim and Chris as they break down Raducanu's display, what it means now that she'll drop to British No. 3, and whether the match was a good advert for women's night sessions (ahem, Amélie Mauresmo and Roland Garros). It wasn't all doom and gloom for the Brits either, as Cam Norrie and Sonay Kartal continued their strong form to book spots in the fourth round. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz survived a stern test from the powerful Jan-Lennard Struff to avoid another five-set battle, while Taylor Fritz added another four-set win to his tally — and this time was able to actually wrap things up in broad daylight.Ben Shelton needed just over a minute to complete perhaps the quickest overnight return at Wimbledon, sealing victory against Rinky Hijikata in just over 60 seconds. There was disappointment for big names too, with Australian Open champion Madison Keys falling meekly with illness a factor and Naomi Osaka suffering an agonising defeat, missing a golden chance for a deep Slam run. History was made, though, as lucky loser Solana Sierra became the first female lucky loser ever to reach Wimbledon's fourth round.BABOLATBabolat are an official partner of Wimbledon and their Wimbledon collaboration collection is available to purchase now from babolat.com SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. It's been a dream couple of months for Ryan Fox. In May, the Kiwi golfer won the Myrtle Beach Classic, claiming his first PGA Tour win. From there he made the cut for the PGA Championship, won his second Tour event at the Canadian Open, before making the cut for the US Open. He'll soon be heading to the UK for the Scottish Open and Open Championship, taking a week's break ahead of the tournament. “It's been a crazy couple of months,” Fox told Mike Hosking. “Going from trying to figure out where we're gonna play gold, or where I was going to play golf next year, where we're going to live as a family, to, yeah, being on the PGA Tour for a few more years now, and having a couple of wins and playing my way into the big events.” He says he's still trying to come to terms with it all, but it's what he's always dreamed of doing. “It's pretty cool.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Then the sport (or the thing you're doing). The same is true for any leadership role. People won't care what you think unless they know you actually care about them. 4 Daily Goals Give the best of what you have today Be present. Fear is a future thing. Be grateful Focus on what you can control Anxiety is a mind with too many thoughts and concerns. Need to face our fears. 3 Key Areas: Belief - expand what you think is possible. Freedom - play like a kid (let it rip). Focus - Be fully present Status vs amazing experiences. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Joy comes from love. Love can come from weaknesses. Ego - Always comparing, creates a fear of screwing up Rory McIlroy – Didn't care if he made the cut at the US Open. Played free and made a few birdies at the end of the second round and made the cut. We're created for relationships." Among Jim's strengths is that he listens and doesn't judge. That's what many people want. “I have this one client, a pro athlete. He said, ‘Jim, I smoke, I gamble, I drink. I do all these things, but I don't think you do all those things. Do you think we can work together?' I said, ‘If you don't judge me for not doing those things, I won't judge you for doing those things.' We became great friends.” Resonance Key #3 - Love Your Opponent. “The opponent is not the enemy– they're our partner in the dance.” – Phil Jackson
Catherine, David and Matt were back for their second live show with news from media day at the Championships. Part 1 – Men's Draw. We discuss what the top players said in press today, including Jannik Sinner's reluctance to state his reasons for changing his team right before a major tournament. There's further chat about the apparent “blind date” nature of the US Open doubles partnerships, and about a cheerful Carlos Alcaraz being beaten by Andy Murray – at golf. Novak Djokovic showed he's clearly still hungry for big titles, and we discuss whether a professional and mature Jack Draper is feeling the pressure to succeed on home turf. We've spoken as well to Matteo Berrettini, Alexander Bublik, and Alexander Zverev, and an emotional Dan Evans gave us a insight into the internal struggles that can loom over you at the end of your career. Part 2 – Women's Draw (36m28s). How long and dark a shadow has been cast by Aryna Sabalenka's post US Open press conference? We talk about how both Sabalenka and Coco Gauff feel about the situation now and their reactions at the time. There is concern about where Ons Jabeur is with her game these days, and fears about Emma Raducanu's fitness as well. But there was cheer from an unexpected encounter with Marketa Vondrousova. Part 3 – Results (56m49s). Jessica Pegula wrote herself into the narrative by winning Bad Homburg, beating Iga Swiatek. Is she now firmly in the mix for the Wimbledon crown? And there is huge news from the women's tournament in Eastbourne as Maya Joint defeated an emotional Alexandra Eala in a hard fought final, leading to a big Backhand List announcement.Become a Friend of The Tennis PodcastCheck out our new merch shop!
