The Husker247 HypeCast is here to get you ready for Nebraska's toughest game of the season, a home contest against the highly ranked Michigan Wolverines. Nebraska is back to .500 and Matt Rhule could earn back a lot of fans and media attention if the Huskers are able to pull off a big upset against Michigan this weekend. We go through how things look in each phase of the game. 93.7 The Ticket's Jake Sorensen joins as the special guest for the week and he provides plenty of thoughts on Nebraska's offense and Heinrich Haarberg, who has taken over at quarterback each of the last two games for the Huskers. Michael Bruntz and Brian Christopherson each give thoughts on the other parts of the offense and where the Huskers could look to attack on Saturday. Then over on the defensive side of the ball Sorensen raves about Nash Hutmacher while Bruntz and Christopherson talk depth at linebacker and in the secondary, as well as what we've seen from the Blackshirts since the start of the year. Then it's prediction time. There's the oddly specific ones — you'll never guess what position Bruntz focuses on and how that leads to a conversation about Degeneration-X — then picks to click and finally game predictions? Anyone crazy enough to pick Nebraska? Find out on the Husker247 HypeCast. Coach Mike Locksley and the Maryland Terps football team is 4-0! We are not sure many outside of the eastern shore area has noticed. The Ohio State Buckeyes win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Jim Harbaugh's return to the sidelines with the Michigan Wolverines and the Penn State Nittany Lions domination over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the White Out game filled the national headlines. Not only are the Terps winning but they are blowing teams out. Led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and a stout defense, Maryland is winning by an verage of 25 points per game. During Locked on Big 10's summer previews, we predicted Maryland could win 9 games, maybe 10 with an upset. All of it is still on the table as they look to go 5-0 by hosting he Indiana Hoosiers Saturday. Tom Allen's Hoosiers needed 4 overtimes to beat Akron at home last week. The Terps still have the Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions and Michigan Wolverines on their schedule. Two of the three are at home. If they upset one of those giants then the Terps are in for a special season. If they upset two of the three then the Terps are in the mix for a Big 10 championship. Maryland's latest victim was Michigan State last Saturday. We have our latest thoughts on former Spartans coach Mel Tucker since he and his legal team formally responded to the university's termination notice from last week. And we have our mid-week Big 10 Power Rankings. -------------- 00:00 Take notice of the Maryland Terps! 10:30 Mel Tucker fights back 13: 30 Big 10 Players of the week 20:00 Big 10 Power Rankings – A new #1 ------------ Connect on Twitter: https://twitter.com/talkbig10 Website: https://talkbig10.com Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Iowa Hawkeyes offense is still horrible despite the addition of Michigan transfers, quarterback Cade McNamara and tight end Erick All. Plus they lost their best player when tight end Luke Lachey went down with a season ending injury last week. Despite scoring 41 points the previous week vs. Western Michigan, there were some troubling signs heading into Saturday's nationally televised embarrassment at Penn State where the Nittany Lions shut out the Hawkeyes 31-0. Even with a 3-1 record, Hawkeyes quarterback Cade McNamara posted anemic numbers all season. This is a player who led the Michigan Wolverines to a Big 10 Title and a college football playoff appearance. Did he have a lot more talent around him in Ann Arbor? Yes. Has he played hurt this year? Yes. Did he get this bad all of a sudden? Probably not. Iowa Hawkeyes fans will tell you that the problem is offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz. Maybe it is. This problem with the Hawkeyes offense pre-dates Cade McNamara by a couple years. The numbers from the Penn State game are alarming! Penn State ran 97 plays compared to 33 plays for the Hawkeyes. There hasn't been a 60 play difference between FBS teams in the last 5 years. Adding to the Hawkeyes problems is their lack of game-changing talent around McNamara. Their offense seems simple and predictable. Defenses don't fear them. We are sure to garner a lot of comments and reaction from Hawkeyes fans on this podcast. We will also catch you up on the latest Big 10 news and we will have fun with our Tuesday Tweets. It's all on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are joined by our buddy, Jake AKA: Texas Toast on Twitter (@TexasToasty54). Then we turned the page and to focus in on the #2 Michigan Wolverines, who will return to Memorial Stadium for the first time since the crazy night game in 2021. We compared the cumulative numbers for the season for both teams, and then moved into Players to Watch, and Score Predictions. Redcast Honke gives his morning after reaction to Nebraska beating La Tech 28-14 to give NU the back-to-back wins in Memorial Stadium, evening their record out at 2-2. Progress has been made on offense, from finding an option identity with QB Heinrich Haarberg, a bell cow with Anthony Grant and some passing success to Billy Kemp and Thomas Fidone. Yet sacks and penalties continue to plague NU. On defense, stopping the run has been a priority of DC Tony White and these Blackshirts have been simply amazing through 4 games. The Ohio State Buckeyes scored with one second left and beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 17-14 in an incredible Saturday Night Showdown of college football. This game will have huge playoff ramifications moving forward. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day should feel great about quarterback Kyle McCord as his starter. After a nervous start he settled down and made some big throws, but did not throw a touchdown pass. Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson ran for 104 yards and a touchdown and Chip Trayanum stretched across the goal line with :01 remaining for the game winner. Elsewhere, the White Out was a Blow Out at Penn State as the Nittany Lions shut out the Iowa Hawkeyes 31-0. That should give restless Hawkeyes fans some ammo when discussing their frustrations with Hawkeyes offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz this week. Meanwhile, Penn State quarterback Drew Allar threw a career high 4 touchdown passes in the rain Saturday night. We take a look at the rest of the Big 10, including Michigan Wolverines football coach Jim Harbaugh and his return to the sidelines following his 3 game suspension. And we take our first look ahead at week 5 around the conference with Locked on Big 10 LIVE with Craig Shemon. Wojo joins us to talk about name suggestions for Heather's baby boy, the ongoing Mel Tucker situation at MSU, Dan Campbell's late-game management, his concerns about the Falcons, if Saturday was an all-time low for MSU Football, and J.J. McCarthy's performance against Bowling Green
Michigan Wolverines football coach Jim Harbaugh is back with the team following his self-imposed three-game suspension for alleged recruiting violations. As expected, he returns to a 3-0 team with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in his cross-hairs for Michigan's Big 10 opener. Jim Harbaugh is the quarterback whisperer and JJ McCarthy could use him now following his 3 interception performance last weekend. During the Jim Harbaugh sabbatical, wide receiver Roman Wilson elevated his game. He has six touchdown catches in three games. Expect more of that between Wilson and McCarthy moving forward. Meanwhile, as the University of Michigan arch rival Ohio State University prepares for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Saturday, the Buckeyes defense has played at a historic level. We will explore that further. Plus we have the latest news and notes around the Big 10. Finally, we put out our weekly Big 10 Power Rankings on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon. J.J. McCarthy threw three interceptions in UM's uninspiring 31-6 win over Bowling Green
Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverine's Quarterback JJ McCarthy had a "Semi Final vs. TCU" melt down on Saturday in what could have been an upset, if not for a struggling third string quarterback, in the Michigan vs. Bowling Green match up. Was it just a bad week for Go Blue? Or is JJ massively overrated? Also, Kyle McCord and the Ohio State Buckeyes were hot in a week where most were not. Does Ohio State Football Coach Ryan Day have a stud in the making in Columbus? Or was Saturday fools gold against a bad Western Kentucky offense?
