Proper 19 (24) Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost (Year C, 2021-2022)Scripture Readings: Jeremiah 4:11-12, 22-28, Psalm 14, 1 Timothy 1:12-17, Luke 15:1-10
Join us as Pastor Steve McCullough teaches on Paul: Foremost of Sinners From 1 Timothy 12-17.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, even though I was previously a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost. Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:12-17

Together, these readings at the Holy Mass this Sunday remind us of the fact that like a young boy in love God trips over Himself; going through extreme measures to court us, to woo us, and to bring us home. The liturgy not only celebrates this undying love of God for His People, but it also forms us to be a type of People who are always making themselves present to their Creator so that He might be more fully present to them all the days of their lives.
