Alex Golesh, HC of the USF Bulls Football team, joined us on the show to talk about his interaction with Coach Herman. What caused it?
While everyone wants to talk about the FAU quarterback situation (which is now official, btw), most fans have amnesia when it comes to how much trouble the Owls had running the football. After the program's least productive year on the ground in over a decade, Tom Herman believes he has the running back room right. Why? They've, according to Coach Herman, made the most progress as a unit from the start of fall camp to the end and he believes he has the weapons to get FAU back to gaining on the ground, weapons with some fascinating stories. Also, freshman safety CJ Heard has received a prolific preseason honor. SUBSCRIBE to “The Florida Atlantic Voice” podcast: Spotify Apple Podcasts Follow Ken LaVicka on social media: X – @KLVsays

It was a 13 theme for the boys. The 13th episode provided zero luck for Clynch who stumbled out of the gates. The working from home and the Covid19 quarantine is beginning to effect the minds or its delirium. There are signs of or hope for normalcy returning on the horizon. Clynch and Mo believe they may have already had the Coronovirus back in January and February. The guys debate what the new norm will look like in Austin, post coronavirus and how the economy will change along as well as protocols in restaurants and in physician offices. There is hope for live sports returning. The PGA did state The Colonial in Fort Worth will take place in early June, but without fans. There was a jab at Clynch's dating life. That humor led to an appearance by #13, a fan favorite former Texas Longhorn, Jerrod Heard. Jerrod discussed it all from his days leading Guyer High School in Denton to back-to-back state championships in football to his days as a Longhorn under Charlie Strong and Tom Herman. Heard gave us some insight on how energetic Coach Herman truly is. Then elaborated on how much he enjoyed playing for former OU and rival head coach, Bob Stoops while on the roster of the now former XFL franchise in Dallas. The boys closed it out by rambling about how it used to be prior to 9/11 making it all relative to anticipated changes post coronavirus.
Many coaches will not stay with one school or district for their entire career. Circumstances with the school or your family, as well as your own ambitions, can all lead you away from your current athletic program and athletes. It's a natural progression, and there may come a point where you have to make the hard decision to leave the student-athletes that you have poured so much into. When that time comes, remember that kids are kids, and they all need a good coach to pour valuable lessons into them. In this interview with Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach Brian Herman of Marble Falls High School, Colton and Coach Herman dive into ways to make connections with students and leave them with a legacy of toughness and discipline when your time with them is over. Key Takeaways -Do the best you can where you are. -Reward kids for exhibiting toughness and discipline. -Make connections with athletes, build relationships.
