Today on From the Pasture with Hired Hand, Molly sits down with Ray Webb. Ray and his wife live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country just south of Marble Falls at their ranch, The Webb Family Farm. Molly and Ray talk about how he fell in love with Texas Longhorns long before he owned any and he provides insight to breeders who are just getting started. He shares the importance of introducing yourself to fellow breeders, a good photo of your animal and the value of asking questions. His herd is special to him for many reasons, but what you may find fascinating is he shares that his cows have a preference on the music they listen to when Ray is out in the field.  (spoiler: apparently Webb cows have a flair for 70s disco every now and then!)Webb Family Farm:  http://www.webbfamilyfarmtx.comSites mentioned SE Longhorn Ranch: http://www.selonghornranch.comGlendenning Farms: http://www.glendenningfarms.comLoomis Ranch: http://www.loomisranchlonghorns.comSend us a textFrom the Pasture with Hired Hand:Hired Hand Websites (@hiredhandwebsites): https://hiredhandsoftware.comHired Hand Live (@hiredhandlive): https://hiredhandlive.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/hiredhandwebsites/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HiredHandSoftwareTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hiredhandwebsitesNewsletter: https://www.hiredhandsoftware.com/resources/stay-informed

In this episode we welcome Jennifer ‘Suki' Otsuki, an Austin native whose journey has been shaped by resilience, healing, and a deep connection to service. After dedicating nearly two decades to the restaurant industry in Dallas following her graduation from the Texas Culinary Academy, Jennifer discovered the transformative power of yoga, cultivating a 20-year practice that would become her sanctuary through life's challenges. Jennifer's story is one of profound transformation. In 2020, she faced the closure of her passion project and restaurant, as well as the end of a 13-year engagement. These losses left her feeling buried under the weight of grief, which she only came to recognize during a women's retreat. Through self-love, healing, and years of reclaiming a life worth living, Jennifer discovered the tools to navigate her journey. However, just as she began hosting retreats and sharing her gifts with others, she was struck by the sudden loss of her partner, sous chef, and best friend at the end of 2023. Now, Jennifer channels her experiences and healing journey into guiding others through grief, healing, and connection. Whether it's through her nourishing meals, her yoga flows, or the profound experiences of her retreats, Jennifer demonstrates that it is possible to create a life you don't have to retreat from. She joins us today to share her story of perseverance, the lessons she's learned from navigating grief, and how she's helping others find the space to heal and grow. Tune in for a conversation filled with hope, resilience, and the power of self-love and connection.   Episode Highlights Jennifer ‘Suki' Otsuki yoga retreats Healing through grief and self-love Grief recovery through retreats Mind-body connection practices 20-year yoga practice for healing Overcoming loss and finding purpose Transformative women's retreats Navigating the dark night of the soul Somatic wisdom and daily practices Reclaiming life after profound loss Yoga for emotional healing Grief and healing through connection Nourishing the body and soul after loss Culinary and yoga retreat experiences Coping with the sudden loss of a spouse   Learn more about Jennifer  She will be hosting a 4-night retreat at the Retreat Ranch outside of Austin in Marble Falls, TX in May of 2025 (May 16-20): From Grief to Gratitude -Somatic Bodywork/Somatic Writing -Horse connection  -Nourishing meals Jennifer “Suki” Otsuki is an Intuitive. LOVING LIFE AT HOME - Christian Marriage, Faith-Based Parenting, Biblical Homemaking, Purposeful Living

Our extended family (40+ people) just got back from spending a week in San Antonio, Texas. The Texas hill country is a beautiful place to visit almost any time of year, but it's especially gorgeous when it's all lit up and decorated for Christmas. Today, I'm sharing all the fun and budget-friendly things we did while we were there, and giving tips for finding similar bargains in your neck of the woods. Show Notes SCRIPTURES CITED: I didn't quote a single Bible verse in this week's episode, but our family's theme verse certainly fits: "Whether then you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31) That goal should hold in public and private, at home and abroad, in our dealings with each other, with hotel clerks and waitresses and park rangers and valet attendants and cashiers and cleaning ladies and museum docents and fellow travelers. We want to treat everyone we come into contact with in a way that honors and glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ -- at Christmas time, especially! Today, I worked a couple of aid stations at the Hill Country Trivium in Marble Falls, Texas. I also got to hand out medals at the finish line. It was so fun to meet people, hear their stories and see them complete their first half, full or 50K. Yesterday, I ran/hiked an 8K (5.2) out at Government Canyon. It felt pretty good, although the arthritic hip made me feel like The Tin Man. Earlier in the week, I traveled to Atlanta and brought home eight national awards for Texas A&M-San Antonio's student magazine, El Espejo. I'm the adviser. It was super-cool. -The following citation is an account of the actions that earned Dakota Meyer the Congressional Medal of Honor:For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Marine Embedded Training Team 2-8, Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, on 8 September 2009. Corporal Meyer maintained security at a patrol rally point while other members of his team moved on foot with two platoons of Afghan National Army and Border Police into the village of Ganjgal for a pre-dawn meeting with village elders. Moving into the village, the patrol was ambushed by more than 50 enemy fighters firing rocket propelled grenades, mortars, and machine guns from houses and fortified positions on the slopes above. Hearing over the radio that four U.S. team members were cut off, Corporal Meyer seized the initiative. With a fellow Marine driving, Corporal Meyer took the exposed gunner's position in a gun-truck as they drove down the steeply terraced terrain in a daring attempt to disrupt the enemy attack and locate the trapped U.S. team. Disregarding intense enemy fire now concentrated on their lone vehicle, Corporal Meyer killed a number of enemy fighters with the mounted machine guns and his rifle, some at near point blank range, as he and his driver made three solo trips into the ambush area. During the first two trips, he and his driver evacuated two dozen Afghan soldiers, many of whom were wounded. When one machine gun became inoperable, he directed a return to the rally point to switch to another gun-truck for a third trip into the ambush area where his accurate fire directly supported the remaining U.S. personnel and Afghan soldiers fighting their way out of the ambush. Despite a shrapnel wound to his arm, Corporal Meyer made two more trips into the ambush area in a third gun-truck accompanied by four other Afghan vehicles to recover more wounded Afghan soldiers and search for the missing U.S. team members. Still under heavy enemy fire, he dismounted the vehicle on the fifth trip and moved on foot to locate and recover the bodies of his team members. Corporal Meyer's daring initiative and bold fighting spirit throughout the 6-hour battle significantly disrupted the enemy's attack and inspired the members of the combined force to fight on. His unwavering courage and steadfast devotion to his U.S. and Afghan comrades in the face of almost certain death reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.Dakota's Instagram:https://instagram.com/dakotameyer0317?igshid=YzcxN2Q2NzY0OA==Dakota's YouTube + Podcast:https://youtube.com/@DakotaMeyerNoDaysOffFirstNet Built with AT&T:http://www.firstnet.com/healthandwellnessDownload the O2X Tactical Performance App:app.o2x.comLet us know what you think:Website - http://o2x.comIG - https://instagram.com/o2xhumanperformance?igshid=1kicimx55xt4f

Episode 134: How Horses Can Help You Heal w/ Shannon and Chris  In this episode, Shannon and Chris from Joshua Tree California, owner of Mustang Sanctuary Ranch, talk about how horses help humans heal. Chris shares what he does with the beautiful wild mustang population and how his ranch operates. Although he runs a Mustang rescue ranch, and they predominantly focus on Mustang rescues, but they do have a couple other horses there. He's just doing as much as he can to make sure that he put his best foot forward in educating and getting awareness out there about what these animals are going through and hoping that we can open our doors to as many as possible. He then shares how horses help us heal, just to kind of give an idea of what the healing magic for horses is, they say a human's heart rate or heart energy emanates, six feet and horse's is 8 feet. So as soon as you even get anywhere near these horses, they feel you and in turn that energy, the “unseen force” as Chris calls it, calls out to the horse, good or bad. It can be such a calming spiritual force that it relaxes you all the way up until the point where your heart rate starts to come down to match the horse's heart rate. So it's very good for stress reduction and anxiety reduction. It's even bigger when you get on the horse because when you get on the horse they're literally able to imitate your heartbeat and then bring it down.  Topics Covered on this Happy Hour Podcast: 02:19 – Quick Catch Up with Shannon and Chris.06:12 – Horse Tune Ups.07:37 – What's Happening with Wild Horses and what People can do to help.13:12 – Perfectly Fine Hoses inside Kill Shelters. 16:41 – Human and Horse Connection.20:07 – Human Consciousness Compared to Horse Consciousness.23:25 – Give us a Review / Subscribe24:28 – Staying in the Present Moment. 34:49 –You Should Never Be in a Rush when it comes to Horses.36:55 – Building Horses Confidence Back Up.38:25 – Connect with Chris.
