Listen, Patience is the real flex when you're playing the long game in life and wealth. Think of it like planting a seed—you don't dig it up every day to see if it's growing. Nah, you water it, you nurture it, and you trust the process. Whether it's your investments, your goals, or your hustle, patience is what separates the wealthy mindset from the broke mentality. The reward? It's not just the growth you see—it's the discipline you build, the wisdom you gain, and the freedom you create. Real wealth takes time, so stay locked in and let time compound your greatness. Happy Thanksgiving Week!!!

1 Peter 5:1-5 ESV1 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” • • •A Pastor's Role and Responsibility • • •1 Peter 5:1-2 ESV1 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; • • •1 Timothy 3:1-7 ESV1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. • • •Ephesians 4:11-12 ESV11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, • • •1 Timothy 4:13-16 ESV13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. • • •A Pastor's Attitude and Behavior • • •1 Peter 5:2-3 ESV2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. • • •Titus 1:7-9 NLT7 A church leader is a manager of God's household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money. 8 Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life. 9 He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong. • • •Titus 1:10-11 ESV10 For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. 11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. • • •Matthew 20:25-28 ESV25 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, 28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” • • •A Pastor's Reward • • •1 Peter 5:4 ESV4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. • • •A Church Member's Response • • •1 Peter 5:5 NLT5 In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” • • •Application:Be humble and willing to subject yourself to the care and leadership of your Pastor as they care for and lead you!

(Philippians 4:4-7) In the context of the book of Philippians, Paul is experiencing suffering because he is imprisoned. In the midst of suffering and imprisonment, he is able to experience peace. This peace doesn't come from the absence of suffering or God answering his prayer of deliverance, but his peace comes from communing with God through prayer. The result of peace isn't our requests being answered, but comes from being in communion with God through prayer.

In this week's parasha, Toledot , we are introduced to the wicked ways of Esav harasha . Yet although he was so wicked, he merited to rule over our people throughout history until that great day of ועלו מושיעים בהר ציון לשפוט את הר עשיו. What did he do to merit all of his blessings? The mitzvah of kibbud av v'em . And although he did excel in many aspects of this mitzvah, he was far from perfect in it, as can be seen explicitly in the pesukim . Furthermore, he was only careful with kibbud av and not kibbud em, as the Rambam explains. Yet, with all of his rishut and all of his deficiencies, he was still rewarded for generations in the merit of this one mitzvah. How much more so will the reward be for even the simplest Jew trying his best to serve Hashem, doing dozens and even hundreds of mitzvot every single day. Of course, we know the real reward for mitzvot is paid in the Next World, while here we only receive their dividends. Every single effort we make is appreciated by Hashem. A rabbi told me he wanted to do the mitzvah of kibbud av v'em and visit his parents who moved to Israel. This rabbi learns half a day and teaches half a day. And so buying plane tickets for him and his wife was a major expense. The travel agent told him the best he could get for two tickets at this time of year was $3800. He then offered him $500 less if he would take a stop-over. The rabbi accepted and booked the tickets. A few hours later, he realized that with the stop-over he was going to miss praying Shacharit with a minyan , as well as his entire morning seder of learning. Then he thought to himself, is it worth $500 to miss minyan and Torah? Of course not. He called the travel agent back and switched to the direct flight. In the end, his flight back had to land in another country because of a technical problem and, due to the delay, he ended up getting back after his morning seder . The airline gave him a $2400 credit for the inconvenience that they caused. He said to me, it was clear that for whatever reason he was meant to arrive in the afternoon that day, but baruch Hashem, he chose Torah and tefila over the money. And as a bonus, Hashem gave him an extra $2000. Our mitzvot are so precious. Even the objects that we use in their performance become holy and thereby bring about yeshuot . I read a story about a young rabbinical scholar who lives in Israel who accepted upon himself to go every Friday to the Shaarei Tzedek Hospital with his accordion and play Shabbat songs to the patients and bring them joy. One day his car broke down and the cost to fix it was more than the worth of the entire car, so he left it. He couldn't afford a new one, but he was worried. How would he continue his mitzvah of bringing joy to the sick on Fridays without a car? He decided he was going to go above and beyond and lug his big accordion on two separate buses to get to that hospital. He continued this week after week and month after month. A couple of years ago, he came into the room of an elderly patient in a coma who the doctors had already given up hope on. When he played his accordion and started singing Shabbat songs, the patient made a very slight smirk and the family began to celebrate. They called the nurses in to see. The following week when he came back and played again, again the smirk came back. On the third week, a miracle took place. While he was playing the song, her eyes opened. He kept playing and, finally, she said a couple of words. The children were so thankful to this young rabbi and asked him more about himself. He told them about his weekly chesed and how he has been doing it with extra effort since he lost his car. They were so moved, they chipped in and bought this rabbi a new car. A week later, their mother was out of the hospital. Our mitzvot are wondrous. The rewards for them are unimaginable and the kedusha that we bring about through their performance is great. Shabbat Shalom.

In this episode of Now that's Significant, a market research podcast, host Michael Howard delves into the complex relationship between artificial intelligence and human creativity with guest Vivienne Ming, a theoretical neuroscientist, entrepreneur, and author. Vivienne, known for her work designing AI systems to address human challenges, challenges the prevailing narrative that AI will free us up to be more creative, arguing that using generative AI to do all the monotonous tasks can actually lead to more routine, mediocre work, which can lead to inferior outcomes. Instead, Vivienne advocates for AI to be used in such a way that makes your job harder. If AI can present what you were about to present, then what value are you bringing to the table? Therefore, we need to use AI in such a way that it challenges our position, helps us think far more deeply about our challenge, and go well beyond what's served up to us with LLMS. Otherwise, we risk producing things that look and sound very similar to everyone else, and no-one is any wiser. Here are five key takeaways from the episode: AI can inadvertently stifle creativity: By automating routine tasks, AI can lead to an increase in those tasks, rather than freeing up time for more creative endeavors. Human uniqueness is crucial for innovation: The true value of human intelligence lies in exploring the unknown and asking ill-posed questions, a domain where AI currently falls short. Embrace uncertainty and diverse perspectives: To foster creativity, individuals and teams must be comfortable with uncertainty and seek out diverse perspectives that challenge conventional wisdom. Reward productive friction: Organizations should incentivize exploration and reward individuals for being productively wrong, as this leads to greater collective intelligence and innovation. Collaborate with AI, don't be replaced by it: Rather than blindly following AI's suggestions, individuals should engage in a dynamic collaboration with AI, challenging its outputs and using it to enhance their own creative thinking. Tune in to this thought-provoking episode to learn more about the evolving relationship between AI and human creativity, and how we can harness AI's power while preserving our unique human capabilities. Don't forget to check out other episodes of Now that's Significant on YouTube or on most major podcast platforms. *** Infotools Harmoni is a fit-for-purpose market research analysis, visualization, and reporting platform that gives the world's leading brands the tools they need to better understand their consumers, customers, organization, and market. www.infotools.com Established in 1990, we work with some of the world's top brands around the world, including Coca-Cola, Orange, Samsung, and Mondelēz. We look at and pick apart three series: Industry and Idleness, The Four Stages of Cruelty, and Humours of an Election. Timely, no? Hogarth continues to point out society's faults and baser instincts. Key pointsConvertible notes provide sellers flexibility to participate in upside if the business performs well, while also offering some downside protection.Convertible notes involve a seller providing a loan to the buyer, with the option to convert the remaining balance to equity at a future trigger point. The conversion trigger is typically a date or milestone, after which the seller can choose to convert the note to equity rather than receive the remaining cash payout.Convertible notes are commonly used in IT services M&A to allow sellers to "have a second bite at the apple" if the combined business grows significantly.Thorough due diligence on the buyer's financial stability and growth plans is critical for sellers considering a convertible note.Dilution from multiple acquisitions is generally not a major concern with convertible notes, as the structure can be designed to minimize impact.Key negotiable terms for convertible notes include interest rate, payment schedule, and conversion triggers/parameters.Sellers should seek legal and M&A advisory expertise when structuring convertible notes to ensure favorable terms. The main benefits of convertible notes for sellers are reduced upfront risk and the ability to participate in future upside. Here are 3 big things you need to know— One — President-elect Trump is naming transition co-chair Linda McMahon as Education Secretary. She was given the nod after Trump named his other transition co-chair Howard Lutnick to lead the Commerce Department. McMahon directed the Small Business Administration during Trump's first term and is the former CEO of WWE. Two ---- More than 75-thousand deer have been harvested since the opening of firearm deer hunting season on Friday. In all, around 173-thousand deer have been legally harvested this year including archery season. Firearm deer season lasts until November 30th and archery season will reopen December 1st. And number three — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is offering a five-million-dollar reward for each hostage released from Gaza. He also said people who help free Israeli hostages from Hamas will be given passage out of the devastated Gaza Strip. He made the announcement Tuesday on a visit to Gaza, where Israel estimates around 100 captives are still being held.
Most organizations assume people leave jobs for better pay or benefits. But the reality is that 70% of employees quit for reasons far beyond money. (Source: Gallup) Here's where it gets interesting. When asked in exit interviews what would make employees STAY, this is what they found: 21% wanted more positive interaction with their manager 13% wanted organizational issues resolved 11% wanted a clear path for career advancement 8% wanted less negative interactions with their boss Employee retention is about much more than paychecks. It's about culture, communication, and career growth. With this data in mind, I want to offer specific steps you can take if you are a) an employee, or b) a manager, or c) a C-suite executive dealing with retention issues. 29% wanted more positive interaction with their managerI've combined the 21% who wanted more positive interaction with the 8% of people who wanted fewer negative interactions with their boss, as these are two sides of the same coin. As an employee: Many employees see themselves as innocent bystanders in this issue, thinking they have no say in how their boss interacts with them. While there is truth to that – you can't control how your boss thinks or feels – you can facilitate more positive interactions by taking the following steps: -Think positive thoughts about your boss-Understand his or her preferences – for how to be approached, how to receive negative information, how to be kept updated -To the best of your ability, develop a personal relationship with your boss. Learn about his/her family, interests, personal goals. I did an episode on how to improve your working relationship with your boss in episode #169: https://www.exclusivecareercoaching.com/posts/2021-03-17-169-questions-to-ask-your-manager-to-improve-your-relationship/ As a manager: It is so important that you get to know your direct reports as people with lives outside of work, and that you show understanding and flexibility to the best of your ability when life happens. Specifically: -Schedule regular 1:1s, and don't make them just about work. -Inquire regularly about things you know staff members are doing outside of work, such as building an addition on their home or planning a big vacation. -Celebrate successes – in a way that is inclusive. No, I'm not talking about participation prizes, but rather make sure you are celebrating the variety of ways in which your team members contribute to the team's success. As a C-suite executive: You are the culture-setter for the organization, so be sure you are walking the talk. Your direct reports will be much more likely to develop personal relationships with their direct reports if you model the same. This is also something you can hire for – ask questions during the interview of senior leadership about their ability to develop mutually beneficial relationships with their direct reports. Avoid, at all costs, hiring people who see their team members as automatons who have no personal lives – or who shouldn't. Do the same as the managers: 1:1s, inquire about your people's personal lives, and celebrate successes. 13% wanted organizational issues resolvedAs an employee: As a ground-level employee, you may be in the best position to bring such organizational issues to your boss' attention. -Be specific – don't expect your boss to take your concerns seriously, or be able to do anything about them, if he or she doesn't really understand the problem. -Follow up – if nothing is done after an appropriate amount of time (which depends on how big the issue is and possibly other factors), follow up with your boss in a respectful and professional manner. -Show gratitude – once change is made, let your boss know how grateful you are in a way that is appropriate for the amount of effort it required. As a manager: The problems will likely be coming to you, and your willingness to hear them out and do something about them can make or break your reputation as a leader. -Actively see input. Don't just listen when they come to you – invite them to tell you what they would change if they could. -Don't get defensive. The best way to shut your employees up is to argue with them about what they see as a problem. Listen, don't interrupt, ask questions, and keep the employee appraised of progress toward the solution. -Reward. Whether the company supports this or you do it on your own, provide a gift card, ½ day off, or something else appropriate to the magnitude of the suggestion. As a C-suite executive: Again – you are the culture-setter and creating a culture where team members are encouraged and rewarded for solving problems is a huge benefit for employee retention, engagement, and productivity. -Create a suggestion system. You don't have to do this yourself, but rather assign a key member of senior leadership to take the reigns on a suggestion system. Be sure they map out the end-to-end process – and do your best to shoot holes in it so they can make it better. -Along with the suggestion system, have a team member create a reward system that can be evaluated and measured objectively. Make sure you allocate the proper funds for this – it will be money well spent. -As part of your recruitment process, be sure your recruiters and other key staff members are speaking about your rewards system to prospective employees. Ideally, the marketing team is involved and has branded this program and effectively communicated it throughout the organization. 11% wanted a clear path for career advancementAs an employee: If this is important to you, this should be a question you ask at the interview stage. Decide whether this is a deal breaker for you, and if it is, make sure you don't compromise on it. -Once you know what the logical next step in your career path with the organization should be, meet with your boss to inquire about the specific criteria he or she will use to determine whether you should be promoted. -Communicate your progress towards that next role regularly with the appropriate person – and always ask if there is anything else you should be doing. -Create CARL stories around your achievements in your current role that speak to your qualifications for the next role once you have the opportunity to interview for the role. As a manager: It is your job to know what, if any, career path exists for the various roles you manage. -Don't wait for your employees to ask – tell them what could be next for them, and what it will take to get there. -Recognize them for achieving milestones along the path. -Get over yourself. A promotion might mean they leave your department – or even become your peer. Consider this a success story, rather than something to try to avoid. As a C-suite executive: One of the key components of a successful retention program is clearly defined career paths, along with clearly defined competencies at each level and role. If your HR department hasn't done this – and, of course, regularly updated it – this should be a major initiative. -This is retreat material – an offsite to look at the entire organization with an eye to how to improve the promotability of various roles. You're thinking about the big picture here – your HR team can then drill down with the specifics. -Be alert to potential biases that will prohibit or hinder certain groups from achieving the next level. I am reminded of a grocery store years ago that required employees to have been a bagger before being promoted into a management role – and only males were allowed to be baggers. -As with your rewards system, your career ladders should be communicated throughout your organization and promoted to potential employees, stakeholders, etc. Are you in the wrong job that chips away at you every day? In this episode, my guest is Dr. Terry Sejnowski, Ph.D., professor of computational neurobiology at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He is world-renowned for exploring how our brain processes and stores information and, with that understanding, for developing tools that enable us to markedly improve our ability to learn all types of information and skills. We discuss how to learn most effectively in order to truly master a subject or skill. Dr. Sejnowski explains how to use AI tools to forage for new information, generate ideas, predict the future, and assist in analyzing health data and making health-related decisions. We also explore non-AI strategies to enhance learning and creativity, including how specific types of exercise can improve mitochondrial function and cognitive performance. Listeners will gain insights into how computational methods and AI are transforming our understanding of brain function, learning, and memory, as well as the emerging roles of these tools in addressing personal health and treating brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. God has a reward planned for those who remain faithful, and do the "right thing" in this life. But, if that's the case is God rewarding us based on our efforts, or are we truly saved by grace? It's a question Charles Tapp unravels this week as he shares his message "The Gospel of Reward."
