No church should die, but some will die. What if God calls you to a church that just isn't going to make it? Josh and Sam discuss how pastors can shepherd dying churches. Miracles still happen! If God can save any person, He can save any church. The post Going to a Dead Church on Purpose appeared first on Church Answers.

Send us a textFor this week, we're talking about the letter written to the church in Sardis found in Revelation 3:1-6. The church in Sardis had a reputation that appeared to be good, but beneath the surface, Jesus reveals that many of them are spiritually dead and that their works lack faith. As we read this letter together, we've been able to draw some helpful applications to our own lives. We hope it blesses you! We also would like to invite anyone who lives in the Philadelphia area to worship and study God's word with us at our in-person meeting that takes place every-other Monday night at 7:30pm. Pastor Neil continues the Letters To The Church Sermon Series with the next message titled: The Dead Church from Revelation 3: 1-4 In this scripture we will find the next letter will be to the Church Of Sardis. The church, by definition, is to be alive. It is a place where God lives, where Christ lives, where the Holy Spirit lives — where believers are alive. A church is to be the fellowship of those who possess eternal life. Not the church in Sardis. This church is dead. The life and power of the Holy Spirit is not present. The illuminating of the Holy Spirit is not there. The enabling of the Holy Spirit is not there. There's no godly leadership there. Without the Holy Spirit and without godly leadership, the church was dead. It was a church dominated by the flesh, dominated by sin, dominated by unbelief, mostly populated by the unregenerate. Though, there would be some believers there who were indifferent and some who were faithful. So what does our Lord say to a dead church? A church that has succumbed to the pressure of the world; that has left its first love like Ephesus, courted the world like Pergamum, tolerated sin and even advocated it like Thyatira?
In today's episode, Brother Mark delivers a powerful message titled “Sardis: The Dead Church,” preaching from Revelation 3:1-7. This passage serves as a wake-up call, urging us to examine our spiritual lives and ensure that our faith is alive and … Continued
What would a "DEAD" Church look like? Sardis gives us a good look - a church living today on past glories.
Rev 3:1-6 What does it mean to be dead? We could all probably come up with some different definitions. However, when it comes to the church there is only One person who can make the diagnosis of whether a church is alive or dead - the Lord Jesus. So, how is your church doing? And is there any coming back from death? Listen this week as we answer those questions and continue our study in the book of revelation.

Send us a textWhat if the vibrancy of faith you once knew has quietly slipped away? Join us as we unpack the profound message to the church in Sardis, famously dubbed the "dead church," from the Book of Revelation. Through a heartfelt prayer, we set the stage for unfolding Jesus' powerful admonitions, underscoring the urgency of vigilance and repentance. Our discussion ventures into the mysterious symbolism of the "seven spirits of God," stirring a captivating discourse on its meaning, whether it embodies Jesus' power and wisdom or represents the Holy Spirit. In the midst of this exploration, you'll meet "Bob," a churchgoer whose journey towards spiritual leadership reveals the critical distinction between seeking personal glory and embracing a true calling to serve.Move beyond the surface as we tackle the reality of spiritual death, drawing on Jesus' stark rebuke of the Pharisees as "whitewashed tombs." We explore the perilous path of spiritual compromise and corruption, drawing lessons from the biblical narratives of Sardis, Pergamos, and Thyatira. Our reflection is steeped in the wisdom of Psalms 1:1 and 1 Timothy 4:1-2, as we delve into the essence of maintaining an authentic relationship with God. As we conclude, Revelation 3:5 offers a beacon of hope, encouraging listeners to confront their spiritual state and embrace the possibility of redemption and renewal. Is your faith dead? What would you call a dead church? What is a church? What does God say about a dead church. Revelation 3:1. And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. A church building might be considered dead if it is abandoned or unused. Signs of a dead church* Decreased attendance: The number of people attending services consistently decreases Decreased tithes: The amount of money given in tithes decreases Lack of baptisms: There are no baptisms taking place Lack of disciple making: There is no effort to make new disciples Unhealthy prayer culture: The church's prayer culture is unhealthy Lack of service to others: The church doesn't serve the community Refusal to change: The church doesn't listen to calls to repent or renew their zeal What does the Bible say about a dead church? In Revelation 3:19-20, Jesus calls on believers to repent and renew their zeal. A dead church doesn't listen to these calls and refuses to change. Please continue to look inward. You are only responsible for yourself in relation to God. Make sure you are right with Him. Check your pulse.

Sardis is known as The Dead Church. The citizens of Sardis were over-confident about their being impenetrable and unable to be militarily defeated; likewise the church at Sardis was over-confident regarding their good doctrine and being therefore impenetrable to the enemy of their souls. From man's perspective, the church was great; but not from God's perspective. Pastor Mat reminds us that it is more important for us to love Jesus than to love doctrine.

In our vocation, in our relationships, and in our walk with Christ, experience very often leads to complacency. In Revelation chapter three, Jesus dictates a letter to the church at Sardis. Although the church had a good public reputation, the Lord knew most of its members had grown complacent. Sardis was a dead church, but as you'll see today, the news wasn't all bad. Stay with us now as Ron moves ahead in his teaching series, “Ready For His Return,” based on Revelation chapters 1-3. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/something-good-radio/support
It may be nice to have a good public image. But ultimately, you're not defined by what people think you are, but by what God says you are. The Testament church in Sardis had something of a good reputation. By all appearances, it was vibrant and alive. But Jesus saw through the façade and in Revelation chapter three He calls them a dead church. What did He mean by that proclamation? What are the traits of a lifeless church? Ron has answers next, as he continues his teaching series, “Ready for His Return,” based on Revelation chapters 1-3. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/something-good-radio/support
