At Waynesboro Free Methodist Church, our mission is to Multiply Faithful Followers of Jesus Christ. Our strategy to do this is through Christ-Centered Families, Intimate Communities of Discipleship, Radical Hospitality, & Vibrant Prayer.

When the winds rise and the waves crash, fear can take over—unless you know who's in the boat with you. In Matthew 8, the disciples panic in the storm, but Jesus speaks peace into the chaos. What if the presence of God in your life doesn't mean storms won't come—but that you never face them alone? Join us as we explore how God's indwelling presence makes us brave. Jonah's story isn't just about God's mercy toward a wicked city—it's about His mercy toward a stubborn prophet. While Nineveh's deliverance grabs the headlines, the final scene zooms in on Jonah's heart, exposing a deeper struggle that echoes in all of us. This week, we're asking the piercing question Jonah wrestled with, and we must as well: Are you okay with God loving your enemies? To support this ministry, visit www.waynesborofm.com/give
As we draw near to the end of Jonah's story, He's been a first-hand witness to God doing unbelievable miracles AND ministry to reform a whole society far from God, yet we still find a storm raging… not on the sea, but in Jonah's own heart. The story of Jonah leaves us with a cliff-hanger: Does Jonah ever change? Here we find yet another example in the Word of what we all need for true transformation: a therapy session with the Wonderful Counselor. To support this ministry, visit www.waynesborofm.com/give

What if all the truth in the Bible could be summed up in a five-word sentence? As Jonah sinks into the sea, powerless to save himself, he discovers the truth that echoes through all of Scripture: “Salvation belongs to the LORD!” This Easter, come and see how God meets us in the depths—and brings us to life. In the next part of Jonah's story, it's the pagan sailors—not the Lord's prophet—who have more spiritual awareness, who show more compassion, who fear the Lord, pray earnestly, and respond in worship. Jonah, the one with God's word, would rather be thrown overboard than turn back to obedience to his God. In a surprising twist, God uses them to expose him. Could the same be happening today? Join us as we explore how God sometimes uses the unbelieving world to confront His own people—and why that might be exactly what the Church needs to hear right now. Will we be humble enough to hear it? To support this ministry, visit www.waynesborofm.com/give
No one likes to talk about it, but deep down, we all know it's true: our sin has consequences. The choices we make and the actions we take can disrupt relationships, damage our own lives, and cause harm in ways we don't always see. But perhaps the most terrifying reality from Jonah's story this week is this—we can be completely asleep to the destruction our sin is bringing. Are we awake to what God is trying to show us? Throughout the ages, our God has repeatedly proven himself to be merciful and gracious, forgiving sin, and blessing abundantly. But what happens when we meet an Israelite prophet who doesn't like that about God and decides to rebel instead of obey when the Lord calls Him? Come find out this and way more as we start our new series through God's word in the book Jonah — The Prodigal Prophet of a Gracious God. To support this ministry, visit www.waynesborofm.com/give
Christ is continually at work in those who belong to Him, shaping and molding us into His likeness. One of His greatest works is to convince us of and help us live in our true identity as His followers. Among the many things He graciously declares us to be, there's only one that He says will help increase our faith… and that is that we are “unworthy servants.” To support this ministry, visit www.waynesborofm.com/give

We are a people set apart, called by our heavenly Father to live the Jesus Way... to give a blessing when we are cursed, to forgive when we are hurt, to love when we are hated. As beautiful and right this ideal is, there's one lingering question: how? How can we live so radically? The simple answer is: where are you looking? When we think of a “calling,” we often picture a life mission—our purpose, passion, a moment we were made for. While it's true that every follower of Jesus has a calling, Scripture describes it less as a grand mission statement and more as a way of life. Our true calling is to live the Jesus Way. If you live long enough in this world, you soon learn that suffering is inevitable. Out-of-control hardships come in all shapes and sizes and never seem to wait for you to get ready for them—they hit when they want to, and all our plans get lost in the dust clouds of the collision. How are we, who are in Christ and sons and daughters of a good and holy God, to endure the suffering that He allows into our lives? How can we experience grief in a way that glorifies Jesus? His word has the answers, and the sooner you learn and trust His answers, the sooner you can steward every second of pain in this fallen world to the glory of Jesus. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. In The Lord's Prayer, Jesus gives us much more than a pattern for prayer, He gives us prayer priorities. As we look to the second part of these priorities, we'll continue to look to not just learn a routine but to experience all Jesus gives to us in His prayer. As we continue in this season of prayer and fasting and this series on prayer, we turn our minds and hearts to how Jesus told us we should pray, a model for prayer given to us by “He who lives to make intercession for us.” And though it is a prayer that has been quoted millions of times throughout the ages, many haven't yet experienced it. What does it look like to live out our faith in tangible, impactful ways? In this week's passage, the Apostle Paul urges us to be devoted to doing good works—not as a way to earn God's favor or saving grace, but as a natural response to the grace we've received. This Sunday, we'll explore how living a life of kindness, service, and love transforms our lives and the world around us. To support this ministry, visit www.waynesborofm.com/give

When we discuss the Gospel (“Good News”) of Christ Jesus in simple terms, most of us will share the historical, physical events it entails: Jesus lived a moral life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. These are nonnegotiable essentials to the good news, and yet, there's so much more! What are the supernatural realities behind all of these events? What is the theology of the Gospel? Everyone knows the saying, “practice what you preach.” To not do so would earn a certain unsavory label, and yet, too many who claim to know God and His Gospel still live lives disconnected from an ethic derived from God. Why is it so vital that the way we live aligns with what we believe? God's word answers this for the Christian: biblically ethical good works both accord with and adorn the Gospel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a clear composition of truths that secure the rescue and restoration of every human being who receives those truths by faith as revealed in God's word. Living godly lives with Christ in this wilderness world, which provides no true sustenance and can often bring us to critical moments that remind us of our weakness, requires way more than self-willed determination and the latest lifehacks. Heartbreakingly, all humanity has a long track record of rejecting those sent by God to guide, counsel, exhort, or rule. When God shows up in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, the rightful and true King, offering citizenship and life in His invading kingdom, humanity behaves no differently. Instead of receiving His reign, they put their King on trial and cried for his crucifixion.
