Rachael, a trauma therapist and today's storyteller, describes how her early childhood abuse was buried by the protective mechanism of dissociative amnesia. As Rachael wrote to Dr. H, “The only way I could continue to live, with no way out, with no one to tell, with no words even to describe what was happening to me, was to forget what was happening to me….when our minds forget, our bodies remember.”Rachael saved herself by forgetting, then was forced to finally face what happened to her when her body carried out its ultimate rebellion in the context of having her third child, her first girl….a little baby girl, with no one to protect her….or at least that's what the terrible and unrelenting obsessions began to say.Support the show! https://www.buzzsprout.com/396871/supportRachael Parsons Svendsenhttps://www.rachaelsvendsen.com/"I Love You, I Hate You, Are You My Mom?" The EpisodeIn March 2022, Europe's ExoMars Rosalind Franklin mission was only weeks from launch when it was suddenly grounded. Russia's invasion of Ukraine ended years of cooperation, and left one of ESA's most ambitious Mars projects without a ride, without partners, and without a plan. From inside ESA's Mission Control in Darmstadt, Sara Melloni watched everything freeze. As Mission Operations Manager for Rosalind Franklin, she now leads the team bringing Europe's Mars dream back to life, one simulation, one re-wiring, one sleepless night at a time. This is not just the story of a spacecraft. It's the story of how science survives politics, and how belief can resurrect a mission thought lost.Cosmic Timeline (Timestamps)[00:00:00] Opening – Markus recalls seeing the ExoMars rover and hearing its dramatic backstory[00:01:45] Sara Melloni on writing a new chapter for Rosalind Franklin[00:04:30] How the original 2018 mission fell apart and what ESA learned[00:08:20] When geopolitics stops science – the shock after the 2022 suspension[00:12:50] “Two days and a half” – the tightest window in mission control[00:17:40] Inside ESOC – training, simulation, and the psychology of mission control[00:23:15] How engineers dismantled, re-tested, and rebuilt a “frozen” mission[00:29:10] The rover's drill: reaching two meters down for traces of ancient life[00:36:00] ESA's global collaborations and the rebirth of European Mars exploration[00:43:50] From crisis to creativity – what the ExoMars team taught ESA about adaptation[00:49:00] Sara's reflection on curiosity, machines, and the human mind[00:54:20] Closing – why bringing Rosalind Franklin back matters for the future of Europe in spaceMemorable Moments“We were ready to go, every checklist ticked, and then the war started.”“Our Russian colleagues lost access to their bank accounts overnight. In this Episode which marks the 5th anniversary of the Penis Project Podcast, Kate and Melissa, practitioners from Restorative Health Clinic talk to Kirk (59), who shares his very recent journey with prostate cancer — from vigilant PSA screening due to a strong family history, through biopsy and robotic prostatectomy(Gleason 9), to an unusually swift return of continence and erections (yes, really… at 5 weeks!). We chat about why a good GP relationship matters, common myths (no, PSA screening is not a finger-up-the-bum), and practical rehab steps that set you up for the best outcome. We also touch on the challenges recent Medicare telehealth changes pose for rural men and why community conversations save lives. Key Takeaways: PSA screening saves lives: It's a blood test. Many men still believe screening means a rectal exam — that misconception stops blokes from testing. Early and regular checks matter, especially with family history. Kirk and his GP were “on it,” which likely changed his trajectory. Rehab starts before surgery: Pre-op pelvic floor coaching and early, structured penile rehab support faster continence and sexual recovery. Expectations matter: Being clear about how important sex is to you helps the team tailor a plan (medications, devices, or injections) so intimacy continues post-treatment. Modern prostate cancer care is not what it was 20 years ago — minimally invasive surgery, targeted radiation, and better side-effect profiles. Episode Highlights Family history matters: Kirk, a 59-year-old anaesthetist, always knew prostate cancer was a “when, not if.” Vigilant PSA screening caught it early. PSA test = blood test: Many men still mistakenly think screening means a rectal exam — this myth stops blokes from testing. Gleason upgrade: Biopsy showed 7, but post-surgery pathology was 9 — reinforcing why early surgery was lifesaving. GPs are gold: A trusted GP relationship ensures timely checks and continuity of care. Rehab starts before surgery: Pelvic floor exercises and penile rehab education gave Kirk the best start. Fast recovery: At 5 weeks post-op, Kirk is dry, pad-free, and already regaining erectile function with support strategies. Community conversations: Kirk shared his diagnosis with ice-hockey teammates — most had no idea PSA was just a blood test. Rural barriers: Medicare telehealth changes risk limiting access for country men as of November 1st 2025 — highlighting the importance of policy that supports remote care. Positive outlook: Kirk's story proves recovery can be quicker than many expect, and modern treatments offer far better outcomes than in the past. Take-home message: Don't wait for symptoms — get your PSA blood test done and talk to your mates about it. Shareable quotes “Good news — PSA screening is a blood test. That's it.” “Pre-hab matters: start pelvic floor and penile rehab before surgery.” “Sex after prostate cancer is absolutely possible — the toolkit is bigger and better than ever.” “Men will talk footy all day — let's talk our health the same way.” Resources & Links: Book a telehealth consult with our sexual health nurse practitioners at Restorative Health Clinic For more information check out our websites www.rshealth.com.au , www.makehardeasy.com.au and www.melissahadleybarrett.com Listen & Subscribe If you found this episode helpful, don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review the podcast! What if your life changed in a single heartbeat? In this episode of the Rollercoaster Podcast, I sit down with Brigham and Lauren Richardson to unpack one of the most powerful survival stories I've ever heard. What followed was a blur of surgeries, internal bleeding, shattered bones, depression, and the painful fight to survive and then, to walk again. But this episode isn't just about trauma. It's about marriage, faith, mental health, and resilience. Lauren shares what it was like receiving that phone call, navigating the unknown, and becoming Brigham's anchor through months of recovery and setbacks.Brigham opens up about waking up in the ICU unable to speak, feeling hopeless, and battling suicidal thoughts, all while learning to eat, talk, and move again from scratch. The fact that he's here today, walking and healing, is nothing short of a miracle.
