I’m joined by beatsmith/producer/engineer and El Paso Hip Hop veteran, S.A.L. to discuss his “Hip Hop History” and the different struggles of a producer/engineer in the pre-home studio era. He shares his personal and musical influences and some of the major artists he’s composed beats for such as Jadakiss, Ed O.G., FT, Phil Da Agony and Diabolic. We also talk about the time he lived in San Antonio and what he learned at a prominent recording studio there and what it takes to get a beat from him. S.A.L. concludes by going into detail about his live beat performance methods, his upcoming album with friend, P.I.L.L.S. and the importance of a good chorus.
Listen to El Paso emcee and businessman, Fat Kat, share his background and stories about growing up in “Lower Valley” El Paso, how long time El Paso Hip Hop crew, Street Associates, was formed and the time they opened for underground legend, Ill Bill. He talks about how and why he opened El Stu Recording Studio & Music Store and the vision behind it. He closes the show with a dope a cappella which was actually the first rhyme he ever wrote.
On this episode I talk with my good friends and Eye To Eye Productions brothers, D.A. The I.N.M. and Tito Diaz. The three of us take a trip down memory lane and give an El Paso Hip-Hop history lesson. We try to solve the mystery of Tito's perpetually broken watch. We also discuss really original stuff like resolutions and a recap of 2013.
