On this weeks episode of The Floptimists, we watched and discussed the 1983 Action/Fantasy movie, Deathstalker. Directed by James Sbardellati and written by Howard R. Cohen. Deathstalker doesn't ask much of it's viewers, but it certainly makes the viewer ask, what the fuck is going on here? From boobs to chalices of ultimate power, and some other stuff in between all that, we follow the story of a lone hero, Deathstalker, on his quest to find the powerful wizard/pimp Munkar. Some say this is a cult classic. You decide. Or listen to us decide, whatever works for you. Oh and Dave (me) is back. Thanks for listening!

THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM THE FINAL CHAPTER... Gabe and special guest Patrick Ripoll from Tracks of the Damned are back and finishing what they started: an interminable look back at the slasher movies of 1981. The complete list includes 42 films that friends, colleagues, and random people on the internet consider to be slashers. The last episode is the shortest, including discussion of 13 movies – Hell Night (directed by Tom DeSimone), Don’t Go in the Woods (directed by James Bryan), Lady Stay Dead (directed by Terry Bourke), Absurd (aka: Rosso sangue, Monster Hunter, and Horrible, directed by Joe D’Amato), Just Before Dawn (directed by Jeff Lieberman), Strange Behavior (directed by Michael Laughlin), Hospital Massacre (directed by Boaz Davidson), Nightmares (directed by Romano Scavolini), Dark Night of the Scarecrow (directed by Frank De Felitta), Halloween II (directed by Rick Rosenthal), Saturday the 14th (directed by Howard R. Cohen), Madman (directed by Joe Giannone), and The Prowler (directed by Joseph Zito). Do note that after recording for 5 hours, the timing of our tracks and communications got a little off. The problem is mitigated to the best of Gabe’s editing ability, but there are still a few odd moments where reactions are off time. Most of the crew has been granted shore leave for this week. It’ll be up to the Grease/Ointment/Brain and El Captain to make sure nothing goes awry aboard the USS Wetfloater. Curiosity gets the best of the two as the reach back into the 80s for yet another underwater base film. They’re so excited they just can’t wait for the rest of the crew to watch it. This week they dive into the 1989 film about an underwater station, with aliens. The Abyss? No strangely not, it’s Lords of the Deep. It stars Bradford Dillman and Priscilla Barnes. Directed by Mary Ann Fischer and written by Howard R. Cohen, this sci-fi tale is one we’ve basically seen before. Stay tuned for the Phantom Zone where Jamie connects the movie back to Ed Harris’ Phantom, movie trivia, Subs Worldwide where Kyle discusses underwater bases, and submarine news. All of this jam-packed into the 71st installment of Submersion!
