Tonight's first guest, Heather, grew up in a very rural part of Central Louisiana. She grew up hunting, so she's always loved the outdoors. When the COVID lockdowns happened, to help pass the time, Heather decided to look into the Sasquatch phenomenon. Not long after she started to armchair research, she hooked up with a group of ladies who were interested in Sasquatch too. It wasn't long after that that Heather started doing field investigations with those ladies that spanned several states. Up until that point, Heather was interested in Sasquatch but what really piqued her interest in them was the day she found a set of Sasquatch prints in the Kisatchie National Forest. After finding them, she was absolutely hooked. On tonight's show, Heather is going to share multiple Sasquatch-related experiences she's had, since then. When she had her sighting, she was driving down a country road, about 4 miles from town, in Southeastern Oklahoma. You see, her mother was in the passenger seat because she was trying to get Angela used to driving at night. As Angela learned that night, other drivers and deer aren't the only things you have to watch out for on country roads, after dark. It was a lesson she'll never forget. The Sasquatch she saw that night wasn't the only Sasquatch she's seen. She had another sighting. Tonight's guest, Doug Messer, had his first and only Bigfoot sighting in 1980. He had his sighting while he was in his bedroom, but his encounter started in the woods, behind his house, in Greenup County, Kentucky. You see, he had been camping in the woods behind his house with 3 friends of his. After the he and his 3 friends had turned in for the night, it started to rain pretty heavily and the rain washed out their camp. That caused them to decide to pack up their camp and head back to Doug's house. After they had everything packed up, they had just started walking down an old timber road, to leave, when they noticed heavy footsteps pacing them to their right. When the boys would stop walking, the footsteps would stop too. They tested that several times and every time they'd stop walking the heavy footsteps would stop too. That frightened them, so they all took off running. Whatever it was that the boys were running from kept pace with them. Finally, after the boys made it to Tommy's house, Tommy thought the experience was over. Tonight's guest, Tommy, was raised in the city, but he decided to move to the country in 1982. He loved being out in the country, doing a lot of the things people do there, including fishing. One day, in the fall of 1982, Tommy was walking to a pond close to his property when he saw a Sasquatch. Back then, he would leave his house and take the fairly short walk back to that pond almost every day to fish, so he had made that walk numerous times, without any strange feelings or incident. What he watched the Sasquatch go on to do, however, shocked him even more. That's because what he watched that Sasquatch do was, in his mind, impossible. Iida Turpeinen is a literary scholar writing a dissertation on the intersection of the natural sciences and literature. Her short stories exploring the relationship between humans and animals won the J. H. Erkko Young Writers' Competition in 2014. Her 2023 debut novel, Beasts of the Sea (Little, Brown, 2025), was published in Finland to wide acclaim, won the Helsingin Sanomat Literature Prize for best debut novel, and was a finalist for Finland's biggest literary award, the Finlandia Prize. Translation rights have been sold in twenty-six territories to date. Iida is currently writer in residence at the Helsinki Natural History Museum writing her second novel not far from the skeleton of sea cow. Turpeinen lives in Helsinki, Finland. When tonight's guest was a little girl her 5 older brothers are the reason why she used to spend so much time in the woods. Due to how they treated her, she used to spend inordinate amounts of time hiding in the woods, in places where they couldn't follow, because she was afraid of them. A lot of times, she wouldn't go back home until after dark. While she was spending all that time out there, she had some interesting experiences, experiences with Sasquatch. Tonight's guest, Super Dave, had his first encounter when he was in the 5th grade, in the Saginaw Eddy Bottoms, in Arkansas. The day he had it, he had walked back to his favorite fishing hole. As he got close to the fishing hole, he heard some whoops, followed by footsteps that were following him. That unnerved him, but what happened to him when he reached his fishing hole, the intensity of his situation went through the roof. When he was approaching the fishing hole, he saw a Sasquatch standing knee-deep in the water. What happened to him that day traumatized Dave so much, he was terrified of the dark for years afterwards. Tonight's guest, Jonathan Branham, grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, in a place locals call “The Holler.” As a kid, he roamed the mountains around The Holler barefoot, without a care. Sure, he knew that mountain lions and black bears were out there, be he wasn't concerned about them. If you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone was his mindset. It wasn't until one night, 4 years ago, that that all changed. That was the night he saw a Face-Eater behind his house.  When his dog started barking, he grabbed his AR and headed out the back door. When he stepped outside, he saw that his dog was cowering. After seeing how upset she was, he started looking around. Almost instantly, he saw a huge, dark shape that looked to be well over 10-feet tall that was close to the edge of the woods, looking at him.
