This week we go fully corporate: Top 5 Corporate & Tech Jargon — the phrases designed to sound like progress while delivering absolutely nothing. We're talking circle back, take it offline, pivot, blue-sky thinking, synergy, and the whole “results-driven ecosystem” dialect spoken exclusively by people who describe themselves as “thought leaders” on LinkedIn.Then we hit the main feature: Thunderbolts* — Marvel's surprisingly sincere group-therapy movie disguised as an action film. Think The Breakfast Club, but everyone's a government assassin and the villain is basically existential depression with god-tier powers.Standard warning: we spoil. A lot. With confidence. What we talked aboutTop 5 Corporate / Techno-babbleWhy corporate language exists: credibility theatre, hiding behind vague phrasing, and “sounding senior” without committing to anything. The difference between useful technical language vs bullshit camouflage (and why “take it offline” can mean “I'm seething”).Techno-babble in movies: Back to the Future's flux capacitor, Avengers physics word-salad (quantum tunneling, heavy ion fusion, Coulomb barrier), and classic Star Trek “modulate the phase variance” nonsense. The “pivot” moment that sneaks into real life: Friends and the cursed sofa stairwell.Thunderbolts*Why this one lands better than recent Marvel: less quippy noise, more consistent tone, and a third act that's actually about something. The set-up: a clean-up operation that becomes a trap, plus Marvel's best “oh, we're definitely all going to die” elevator pitch.Bob / Sentry / The Void: a superhuman project gone wrong, and a villain that manifests as the darkest version of yourself. The big swing: a finale that avoids sky-portals and CGI armies and instead goes for inner trauma + solidarity (yes, basically an emotional intervention). The asterisk explained: the film's marketing payoff and the “New Avengers” naming chaos. The rough edges: runtime bloat, plot convenience, and the return of accents that should've stayed retired.Bonus life adminWalking football cup semi-final madness (knees sacrificed, glory secured).Random watches: Tarot (not recommended), “Lords of Metal” (unexpectedly wholesome), and a bit of hype for upcoming Peaky Blinders and Baz Luhrmann's Elvis project. If you're even slightly Marvel'd-out but still want something that tries to have a heart, Thunderbolts* is one of the more watchable recent entries — and if you've ever died inside hearing “let's circle back,” the Top 5 segment is basically free therapy. You can now text us anonymously to leave feedback, suggest future content or simply hurl abuse at us. With Operation Epic Fury, the US/Israel attack on Iran, triggering reprisals by Iran that risk the stability of the entire Gulf Region, what are the shifting international law justifications for the initial attack? And was the Starmer/Hermer explanation for the UK's cautious approach to involvement in “offensive” action an example of weakness or wise restraint?  To answer these and other questions Ken Macdonald KC and Tim Owen KC are joined by the Shadow Attorney General, Lord David Wolfson KC, who attacked the Prime Minister's statement explaining why the UK did not participate in the US/Israel attack on Iran as “pusillanimous”, a “mark of shame” and an “amoral evasion dressed up as legal principle” (https://x.com/dxw_kc/status/2028087017892970696?s=43).  Ken and Tim press David on his certainty that the US/Israel attack is fully justified as a matter of international law by reference to the principle of collective self-defence, the need to take proportionate action to avert continued attacks on UK bases and to prevent Iran from implementing its genocidal intentions against Israel. Given William Hague's support for the Starmer approach and the disastrous history of the Iraq war, should all politicians and those who advise them not recognise the need for extreme caution before lining up behind Trump and Netanyahu?  In a world dominated by Presidents Trump, Putin and Xi, each of whom regard international law as a meaningless irrelevance, Ken and Tim ask David whether he agrees with Marco Rubio's statement that the rules-based international order has to be jettisoned as “a fantasy” and a “dangerous delusion” and what are the limits of his support for US/Israel actions in the Middle East.  Covering the critical intersections of politics and law in the UK with expert commentary on high-profile legal cases, political controversies, prisons and sentencing, human rights law, current political events and the shifting landscape of justice and democracy. With in-depth discussions and influential guests, Double Jeopardy is the podcast that uncovers the forces shaping Britain's legal and political future.       What happens when politics and law collide? How do politics shape the law - and when does the law push back? What happens when judicial independence is tested, human rights come under attack, or freedom of expression is challenged? And who really holds power in Britain's legal and political system?  Get answers to questions like these weekly on Wednesdays.      Double Jeopardy is presented by Ken Macdonald KC, former Director of Public Prosecutions, and Tim Owen KC, as they break down the legal and political issues in Britain. From high-profile legal cases to the evolving state of British democracy, Double Jeopardy offers expert legal commentary on the most pressing topics in UK law, politics, and human rights.       Ken Macdonald KC served as Director of Public Prosecutions from 2003-2008, shaping modern prosecutorial policy and advocating for the rule of law. He is a former Warden of Wadham College, Oxford, a crossbench member of the House of Lords, and a leading writer, commentator and broadcaster on politics and the rule of law.      Tim Owen KC has been involved in many of the most significant public, criminal and human rights law cases over the past four decades.  Both bring unparalleled experience from the frontline of Britain's legal and political landscape.    If you like The Rest Is Politics, Talking Politics, Law Pod UK and Today in Focus, you'll love Double Jeopardy.  Learn more about your ad choices. Baroness Sharon Bowles, Member of the House of Lords, talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about mounting concerns surrounding the Pension Schemes Bill and its proposed exclusion of listed investment companies from qualifying assets for DC default pension schemes. Bowles explained that the issue is not about existing rules, but a clause currently progressing through Parliament that would require certain pension schemes to invest in private assets only through non-listed vehicles. She warned that this approach ignores how markets operate in practice and risks distorting investment behaviour. The exclusion could affect investment in infrastructure projects such as wind farms, nuclear facilities like Sizewell, hospitals and schools. Bowles highlighted that listed investment companies have historically provided access to such assets while allowing liquidity for investors. As she put it, “It's a route that is very important because retail investors can also get a slice of the action.” Addressing concerns about risk, Bowles argued that underlying asset risk exists regardless of structure, stating, “I wouldn't say that one is more risky than the other. You've got different risks, and that's why they're actually rather complementary.” She also warned that excluding listed investment companies could remove potential cornerstone investors from IPOs and follow-on fundraisings, potentially damaging broader UK capital markets. Bowles criticised the lack of consultation and described the policy approach as “a slogan” rather than a reflection of market realities. Watch the full interview for detailed insight into the debate surrounding the Pension Schemes Bill and its potential market impact. In this mind-bending conversation, Trey Downes sits down with Dr. Josephine Hardman, a former academic who spent 9 years teaching Shakespeare and ancient literature at the college level before discovering the truth behind the Akashic Field.Josephine reveals that the universe isn't just a physical space—it's a vast, high-tech surveillance system that logs every human thought, choice, and action in a "storehouse" of energy. From the "Lords" who guard the gates of this database to the ancient "Book of Life" referenced in the Bible, we go deep into the mechanics of how our souls are being tracked. Are we living in a cosmic matrix, or is this the ultimate tool for human liberation? We discuss why this secret was hidden, the "imposter syndrome" of leaving academia for the spiritual world, and how to reclaim your sovereignty in a world that wants you to "go back to sleep".

'Something massive is happening.' The words of the Green Party's new MP Hannah Spencer after her decisive win in the Gorton and Denton by-election. Is she right? Labour came a distant third and neither the Conservatives nor the Liberal Democrats managed to get even two percent of the vote. Arguably none of that was unexpected. But Reform UK, up until now seen as the populist insurgents ready to replace the mainstream parties, fell short by over 4000 votes. Not nearly the knife-edge result predicted. So is Nigel Farage in danger of running out of steam after diluting his party with Tory defectors? Could the Greens offer white working class voters a left alternative to kick the establishment? And is Labour going to have to move left, whether to take on the Green threat or their unhappy backbenchers? On this episode of the Fourcast, Krishnan Guru-Murthy speaks to Zack Polanski after his win, and is joined by the ex-Tory now Reform commentator Tim Montgomerie, Sam White, who is a former Chief of Staff to Keir Starmer, and Natalie Bennett, one of two Greens peers in the House of Lords.

Tell me if this makes sense… We live in a world today characterized by a fetishized pornographic addiction to rape. If it were not so, Law & Order: SVU wouldn’t have made it past a single season – let alone, into SYNdication for nearly 30 years…! I loathe Adorno and the CULTural Marxists who SYNthesized (read: weaponized) Marx and Freud to the general detriment of mankind, beginning with the ‘West’. But, he raised some legit points, as often the baddies do. It’s their SOLUTIONS we all need be wary of. For nigh on 100 years, we’ve basked in the jaundiced glow of the Frankfurt School, as legions of university students continue having their minds and spirits poisoned in the name of ‘Progress’. See also the ancient Roman Collegium, a concept dating back to (at least) the days of Plato – who, incidentally, literally wrote the book on The Republic. I digress… In Adorno’s “Fetish-character” essay, he states, a fetish is a substitute object of desire.[1] I would submit that in the latent undercurrent of this Nietzschean ‘power-evolving universe’ of today’s America; men and women, by and large, secretly harbor a craven desire for rape. It sounds crazy! Until one considers the popularity of Law & Order: SVU for the last 27 years. America is Kung-Fu LARPing, with each new iteration of the ‘fetish substitute object of desire’ further blurring the lines between fantasy and reality (schizoaffective disorder) as we creep ever closer to the Chaos Magick of bringing these secret desires to life. But, beware; LARPing has consequences.[2] The Epstein Saga has been publicly ongoing for 2+ decades. More than a thousand witnesses have come forward – including dozens who’ve accused Trump (E. Jean Carroll) – and yet, only Epstein and Maxwell have been ‘brought to justice’. Speaking of ‘justice’, Thomas Massie probably said it best:[3] Congress created the Department of Justice, Congress funds the Department of Justice, and Congress is responsible for the oversight of the Department of Justice. When will we see justice? I’ll tell you what I’ve not seen. I’ve not seen any arrests from the revelations in the Epstein Files – over 3 million documents describing horrible things, describing unspeakable things, much of it redacted. Over two dozen people have resigned; CEOS, members of government, worldwide. But, I haven’t seen any arrests or investigations here in the United States, from this Department of Justice. Prince Andrew, Duke of York, who has since been stripped of his royalty, his royal titles, due to his affiliation with Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested. Peter Mandelson, who previously served as UK’s Ambassador to the United States, resigned in disgrace from United Kingdom’s House of Lords and the Labor Party, and he’s been arrested. Former Prime Minister of Norway Thorbjorn Jagland has been charged. But, we don’t see any charges, arrests, or investigations in the United States. What do we see? We see our FBI Director celebrating in the locker room at the Olympics overseas. It’s fine to be proud of this country. But, we should be proud of this country because we have a system of justice that works. And yet we do not. … We need justice. We want the Department of Justice to get to work, and that’s what they need to do – now. The Trump (45/47) DOJ is unwilling to rat itself out – and so are the other 77+ million co-conspirators… And then there’s the 77 million co-conspirators who voted for Epstein’s best friend Trump as many as three times, knowing he’d been accused of sexual assault by dozens of women, and even after he was found liable for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll. For 77 million men and women it was not a dealbreaker! He rapes, but he saves. He saves more than he rapes … but he probably does rape.[4] Considering the aforementioned, what would be crazy is not acknowledging America’s fetishized pornographic addiction to rape – which is precisely what we’re doing. We are gaslighting ourselves at this point, as we turn a blind eye to our own culpability. After all – on the eve of America’s 250th Anniversary of Independence – wasn’t this always to be a government of, by, and for The People…? 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; …21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, …24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: …26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. — Romans 1:18, 21–22, 24, 26–32 KJV 4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord [is] at hand.6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. — Philippians 4:4–8 KJV #Links Clips [1:58] Etymology (the origins of words) was taken out of schools in the early 1900’s for a reason. The actor wore what she described as a “prosthetic [redacted]” in her recent movie The Testament of Ann Lee, as she revealed in a Feb. 25 interview with BBC’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show. “This movie, it needed to be graphic, so, like, I had a prosthetic [redacted],” she said in a clip posted to Instagram, which understandably perplexed Mills himself. When pressed for more details, she surprisingly had a rave review about the experience. “It was cool. It was exciting.” Seyfried plays the real-life Ann Lee, a Christian woman in 18th-century Great Britain who viewed herself as a representative of God and eventually founded a religious sect called Shakers, with the film capturing her group’s move across the pond to New York during the Colonial era. Son of megachurch pastor sentenced after horrific materials found at home ‘among worst investigators have seen’ An Indiana megachurch once known for preaching purity and sexual morality has found itself at the center of a scandal that has shaken a congregation, rattled political allies, and ended with a six-year prison sentence. Jonathan Peternel, 24, of Pendleton, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty in January to one Level 4 felony count of child exploitation and three felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. The case drew intense public scrutiny not only because of the disturbing evidence uncovered by investigators, but because his father, Nathan Peternel, remains listed as lead pastor at Life Church and is a longtime mentor and close associate of Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith. Why Viewers Say You Should Watch ‘Nymphomaniac’ Alone Due to Its Graphic Scenes Both volumes of Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac are streaming on Netflix in the U.S., and its return to an easy, familiar platform has revived a warning that has followed the film since 2013: ‘Watch this one by yourself.‘ … So why does this movie come with a warning like that? The movie’s name actually answers that on its own. The term nymphomania is used to classify someone who has an uncontrollable compulsion toward sex, and that is exactly what the film follows across 2 volumes and 8 chapters. It opens with a woman named Joe, found beaten in an alley. A man named Seligman brings her home, and she begins telling him the story of her life from her earliest sexual memories through decades of escalating need. Von Trier was telling the story of a woman whose entire life is shaped by a compulsion she cannot control. … The discomfort the audience feels isn’t incidental. It’s the mechanism. Von Trier built the film so that watching it puts you closer to Joe’s experience than any non-explicit version ever could. The surface reading is addiction… What Joe is actually chasing is not sex but connection. Every encounter she describes to Seligman moves her further from other people rather than closer to them. Sex becomes the thing she reaches for because the thing she actually needs keeps slipping out of range. That distance between the act and the need behind it is where von Trier plants the real story. The compulsion is real, but the loneliness underneath it is what he keeps circling back to. He called this technique “Digressionism,” a term he coined to describe a storytelling style that deliberately wanders away from its own plot. He cited Marcel Proust as an influence. Nymphomaniac is the final film in what von Trier and critics call the Depression Trilogy. Following Antichrist in 2009 and Melancholia in 2011. After years infiltrating child exploitation rings, expert reveals an even DARKER American underworld | Blaze Media Demons in the Headlines EXPOSED: The War for Power and Souls in D.C. | Strange Encounters | Ep 29 – YouTube [31:30–33:26] Back to the politics piece; everybody within politics – even if they disagree with exploitation or whatever – they show partiality. And, I believe it’s, is it second Peter? … It says, ‘where partiality exists, exists every form of deceit and evil’. We can look it up … but I think that’s it. But, where partiality exists, exists all forms of evil. ***[Did he mean this passage?]For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. – James 3:16–17 KJV*** And, what is happening in our political world that I’ve that I’ve seen now is; you have career politicians – even if they claim to be Christians – they sell access. And, it might be access to conservative organizations. But, they sell access – and they’re partial to donors. … they’re unbelievably partial. And, they’re partial to their ‘club’, as opposed to the people they’re elected to represent. And, you have a bureaucracy that’s in place, and you have these elitists that are in place, that think that they can buy – because they have been able to buy your position – buy you, buy access to you, or buy access to somebody else, and ‘own’ – in this case, a US Senator, what I’m running for. But, it’s across the board for everything; Congressmen, even the President … Everything’s for sale. And, it’s ‘access’ that they’re selling, right? And, that’s the thing that stood out to me the most; partiality. More proof / Trump-Epstein Saga DOJ’s Epstein Files Screwups Get Worse With Unredacted Nudes and Images of Kids The Justice Department is under fire after newly released Jeffrey Epstein case materials reportedly included unredacted nude images and photos involving minors. Analysis by CNN uncovered nearly 100 explicit pictures of two naked young women on a beach, the news outlet reported. The materials also included photos showing a young girl kissing Epstein on the cheek. At least one unredacted image depicted Epstein alongside a nude female, and additional selfie-style nude photos of at least two other unidentified females were also published, with their ages unclear, according to CNN. Under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which Congress passed and President Trump signed in late November, the DOJ is obligated to omit sexually explicit imagery and anything that might identify victims. The images have now been redacted. When will we see justice? I’ll tell you what I’ve not seen. I’ve not seen any arrests from the revelations in the Epstein Files – over 3 million documents describing horrible things, describing unspeakable things – much of it redacted. Former Prime Minister of Norway, Thorbjorn Jagland has been charged. But, we don’t see any charges, arrests, or investigations in the United States. What do we see? We see our FBI Director celebrating in the locker room at the Olympics overseas. It’s fine to be proud of this country. But, we should be proud of this country because we have a system of justice that works. And yet we do not. Who are the men that should be investigated? I’ll name them right here. Leon Black; you don’t even have to see past the redactions to see that this man needs to be investigated. Jess Staley; accused of terrible things, it’s right there in the files. Why is he not being investigated? And, Leslie Wexner; why did the FBI list him as a co-conspirator in their own documents in a child sex trafficking case, and then tell him, according to him, that they had no questions for him? Why is that? Well, the Epstein Files Transparency Act requires the DOJ and the FBI to disclose to us their internal memos and emails about how they made those decisions, whether to prosecute or not prosecute. Yet, they have not delivered those memos. And, we still don’t have the memos and documents and emails from 2008, to explain why Jeffrey Epstein was given such a light sentence in what would have been an open and shut case of child sex trafficking, which allowed him to go back and recommit these terrible crimes, create hundreds of more victims, and ensnare so many other people in his conspiracy. Where are those documents that describe those decisions? We need justice. We want the Department of Justice to get to work, and that’s what they need to do – now! In September 2025, Peter Mandelson — then the United Kingdom's Ambassador to the United States — was dismissed (effectively recalled and fired) by Prime Minister Keir Starmer after revelations about his longstanding social relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein surfaced. Emails published earlier that year showed Mandelson had maintained contact with Epstein after Epstein's 2008 conviction and had expressed supportive sentiments toward him, which diplomats said was far deeper than what had been known at the time of his appointment. Those communications raised questions about his judgment and suitability for the high-profile diplomatic post, prompting Starmer to remove him from the position immediately. In February 2026, the scandal escalated when authorities arrested Mandelson on 23 February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. This followed the release of internal documents and emails from the U.S. Department of Justice's Epstein files suggesting he may have shared sensitive government information with Epstein during his time in government in 2009–10. As part of the fallout, Mandelson resigned from the House of Lords and the Labour Party, and British police executed search warrants at his residences as part of a criminal investigation. Is Misconduct in Public Office “one of the most notoriously difficult offences to define in England and Wales” as the Law Commission observed in its 2020 Report into the history of the offence? And what reforms are needed for it to satisfy 21st century requirements of legal certainty according to the Commission's conclusions ? To answer these and other questions, Ken Macdonald KC and Tim Owen KC are joined by the former Criminal Law Commissioner and distinguished Professor of Criminal Law, Jeremy Horder, who, in addition to being the current editor of Ashworth's Principles of Criminal Law, is also the author of the leading academic text on misconduct in public office (https://academic.oup.com/book/2405/chapter-abstract/142612568?redirectedFrom=fulltext) The trio analyse the elements of the offence and its 18th century origins, debate the risk of the offence being seen to be a “political” weapon in a prosecutor's armoury and reflect on how the charge has frequently been deployed in Hong Kong against holders of low and high office alike (see for example) https://legalref.judiciary.hk/lrs/common/ju/loadPdf.jsp?url=https://legalref.judiciary.hk/doc/judg/word/vetted/other/en/2023/CACC000168B_2023.docx&mobile=N This episode was recorded on 24/2/26 before the announcement of the arrest of Peter Mandelson on suspicion of misconduct in public office.  In anticipation of the announcement by Justice Secretary David Lammy of the government's legislative plans to tackle the Crown Court backlog, Ken and Tim repeat their invitation to Courts Minister Sarah Sackman MP to join them on Double Jeopardy to debate the controversial plan to abolish the right to trial by jury for a vast array of crimes and for her to explain why she believes the reforms are justified as a matter of principle and can fairly be retrospective in effect.   Finally, they reflect on the US Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling in Learning Resources, Inc v Trump (https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/24-1287_4gcj.pdf), the Tariffs case which appears to show that even for hitherto avowed Trump loyalist Judges there are Executive Orders they won't countenance. With in-depth discussions and influential guests, Double Jeopardy is the podcast that uncovers the forces shaping Britain's legal and political future.     What happens when politics and law collide? Send a textWhat if the “king of terrors” isn't the final word on your story? We open the book of Job where fear, loss, and accusation collide—and set that against the greater claim that Christ is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. When Bildad thunders about brimstone and erasure, we hold his verdict up to Scripture's witness about providence: God governs all things, even death, without becoming their author. That single truth reshapes how we see suffering, friendship, and the quiet strength of faith.Together we explore what ancient believers knew about Satan and why their restraint matters today. Instead of theatrics, the Bible gives us a steadier practice: submit to God, resist the devil, and trust the One who holds the leash. Isaiah's imagery of terror, pit, and snare exposes how evil falls into its own traps, while Job's grief reveals how careless counsel can wound deeper than disaster. We contrast Bildad's quick judgments with the patient, prayerful posture of a friend who believes providence can carry a soul through silence and storm. We also follow a surprising thread to Barabbas, sedition, and the way power bends truth in public places. That lens helps us read our moment without despair, seeing how the cross unravels both human schemes and hopelessness. And at the center stands a question every heart recognizes: who remembers you? The thief's two words—remember me—outweigh a stadium of applause. Divine remembrance outlasts headlines, monuments, and every attempt to measure worth by what can be lost.If you've ever been misread in your pain, if you've wondered whether your name will matter when the noise dies down, this conversation offers a different anchor. Don't be a Bildad. Be the friend who resists easy answers, prays with real gravity, and trusts the King who overrules terror with mercy. If this resonated, share it with someone who needs gentler counsel, subscribe for more Scripture-rooted conversations, and leave a review to help others find the show.Meet Me in the Word: A Daily DevotionalThoughtful reflections for Jesus-Followers Monday through Friday.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showBE PROVOKED AND BE PERSUADED!

At its peak, the BRICS coalition of economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – was seen as a serious attempt to move away from the United States dollar and the domination of Western economic institutions like the World Bank, Group of Seven (G7), and International Monetary Fund (IMF). But BRICS members have different political agendas, and new forces are at play, argues economist Jim O'Neill, a member of Britain's House of Lords. O'Neill, who coined the term "BRIC" 25 years ago, tells host Steve Clemons that the US's economic policies may be the driver of its own decline, coupled with the economic rise of China and India. The UK's Online Safety Bill has been in the pipeline for a number of years now, and is currently being considered by the House of Lords. The proposed bill has caused a lot of controversy due to its broad ambitions and a perceived threat to people's privacy. But it's been welcomed in some quarters, and in particular by children's charities like the NSPCC, who say that it's needed to tackle grooming and child sexual abuse online. Indeed, the NSPCC says such measures are long overdue and that over 3,500 online sex crimes are likely happening each month that the bill is delayed. How does online grooming happen, and who are the typical targets ? Does this only happen online? How can you identify a child victim ? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions ! What Kind Of King Is Jesus? | Benjer McVeigh | February 15, 2026

Worship with us 9 + 11am 390 N 400 E Bountiful, UT 84010 https://www.flourishinggrace.org/plan-your-visit As we continue our verse by verse journey through the Gospel of Luke, we arrive at the triumphal entry of Jesus in Luke 19:28 to 44. This passage is often read on Palm Sunday, yet Luke highlights specific details to answer a defining question for every person: what kind of King is Jesus? In a world where leadership shapes families, workplaces, communities, and nations, Luke invites us to consider who is truly in charge and who is shaping our lives. We may assume we are fully in control of our decisions, priorities, and identity, but every day we are influenced by voices, desires, fears, pressures, and countless messages that compete for authority over our hearts. The question is not whether something or someone is ruling us, but what kind of ruler it is and whether it can actually give us life. In this sermon, Pastor Benjer shows how Luke reveals Jesus as a King with real authority. Jesus intentionally fulfills Old Testament prophecy as He enters Jerusalem, including the promise from Zechariah that Israel's King would come humble and riding on a donkey. Jesus directs His disciples to a colt that has never been ridden, and His words, “The Lord has need of it,” point to His rightful claim over all things. The crowds respond with praise, quoting Scripture and celebrating Jesus as King, while the Pharisees recognize the danger of His claim. Jesus is not merely a teacher with good ideas, but the promised Messiah, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. Luke makes clear that Jesus has authority not only over a city and a moment in history, but over creation itself. Luke also reveals Jesus as a King who is humble. While earthly rulers enter with power displays and war horses, Jesus comes on a donkey. He does not enter Jerusalem for conquest, but for sacrifice. His path to victory goes through the cross. This confronts our expectations because we often want a Messiah who confirms our strength, protects our preferences, and defeats our enemies on our timeline. Yet Jesus redefines power through surrender, calling His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. True strength in the Kingdom of God is marked by humility, service, obedience, and love. The way of Jesus challenges cultural definitions of greatness and invites us to lay down our rights for the good of others, beginning in our homes, relationships, workplaces, and communities. Finally, Luke shows Jesus as a King who saves. As Jesus approaches Jerusalem, He does not posture in anger. He weeps. His tears reveal His heart for the people who are about to reject Him. He longs for them to know “the things that make for peace,” not merely the absence of conflict, but reconciliation with God. Jesus warns of the consequences of refusing His visitation, and the passage shows both the seriousness of judgment and the tenderness of His mercy. Jesus came to save, not to condemn. His authority is not cold control, and His humility is not weakness. Together they reveal the heart of a Savior King who willingly lays down His life so that sinners can be forgiven, made new, and brought home to God. If you are exploring faith, this message is an invitation to consider Jesus honestly. Either He is the promised King who came to die and rise again, or He is not. If you are a Christian, this passage calls you to yield every area of life to His authority and to follow His way of humility. Flourishing Grace Church exists to help ordinary people encounter an extraordinary God, and we pray this sermon strengthens your faith, steadies your heart, and leads you to trust King Jesus more deeply.

In this podcast episode, we examine five key reasons for Jesus Christ's return to earth: The Bible emphasizes this promise repeatedly, with more than 1,800 references and 21 direct mentions from Jesus Himself. He will return as King to judge the nations, make all things right, and establish His righteous rule. He will come to Israel to deliver and restore her, setting up His Messianic Kingdom. Scripture also promises a new heaven and a new earth, where the curse will be removed and God's purposes fully realized. His return will be visible to the entire world—He first came as a sacrificial Lamb, but He will come again in glory as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Though some question the delay, the Bible reminds us that God's judgment is certain, and as we study Scripture and observe the signs, it is clear that His coming is near.
