Read Online“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” He replied to him, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Luke 22:42–43What powerful words these were. As Jesus hung dying on the Cross for the salvation of the world, He hung between two thieves. These thieves represent all of us. One of them wanted Jesus to save His earthly life by coming down from the Cross and saving him at the same time. The other thief made a prayer for eternal life, asking Jesus to remember him when Jesus entered His Kingdom. To the latter, Jesus granted his request.Oftentimes we pray for earthly goods and pay little attention to eternal ones. Today, as we celebrate the last Sunday of the liturgical year, we celebrate the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. On this day, we are invited to pray this prayer with the good thief, acknowledging that we are sinners deserving death, but hoping and praying for mercy and a share in the Eternal Kingdom of God.Nothing makes the soul of our Lord more joyful than saving His children. He endured suffering and death out of love. He knew that His death would destroy our death if we cling to Him in hope. On the Cross, Jesus' gaze was on eternal, not earthly, redemption. He beheld the glorious throne that He mounted. It began with a cross but would end with glory, power and splendor beyond imagination. As we honor Jesus as the great and glorious King of the Universe, we are encouraged to invite Him to establish His kingship in our lives more fully. Though Jesus' permanent, lasting and visible Kingdom will be established only in the future when He returns at the end of time, His Kingdom must begin now.The Kingdom of God is established here and now every time you allow Him to exercise His kingship in your life. As a King, Jesus desires to order your life. He demands perfect submission of your will to Him. He demands complete obedience. And He demands that you embrace this kingship of His freely, of your own choosing. These are demands of perfect love that bring about a sharing in His eternal Kingdom. How well do you do this?Throughout our world, there are many forms of governments. Democracies are thought by many to be the best form of government because no one person is capable of being the perfect king. Therefore a democracy is more of a safeguard against tyranny and abusive leadership. But when it comes to the end of time, the governance of humanity will take place by a King—the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is the only one Who is capable of governing humanity with justice and love. He is the only one under Whose leadership we will all flourish. He is the only one Who will be able to establish universal peace and harmony.Reflect, today, upon the glorious end of the world when our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, will return in splendor and majesty to judge the living and the dead and to establish His permanent and unending Kingdom. Though we are not able to comprehend what this Kingdom will be at this time, we must believe in it with faith and have supernatural hope that we will share in it. Reflect, especially, upon your mission to allow that Kingdom of grace and mercy to begin now, within the depths of your own soul. Surrender all to Him. Invite Him to reign over your thoughts, will, body and soul. Do not hesitate. Trust in this one and only glorious King Who is worthy of our total obedience. My Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, You and You alone are worthy of our total trust and surrender in all things. I do choose You as my King today. I join with the good thief and come to You with all my sin, praying that You will remember me when You come into Your glorious Kingdom. The government hailed a new “deal” with the EU which included an agreement on fisheries and a joint commitment to negotiate a ‘youth experience scheme', as well as new arrangements for agriculture, emissions trading,  energy cooperation and defence.  Many of these changes will involve the UK accepting dynamic alignment, with its potential role in “decision-shaping” to be defined. Six months on, how much progress has been made? Have new stumbling blocks emerged? David Wolfson (Lord Wolfson of Tredegar, KC) is one of the most sought-after commercial Silks at the Bar. Originally a French Horn player, she became obsessed with the piano and now runs a successful teaching practice as well as writing music-themed fiction. 'Solo' follows a former French Horn player learning to face her past when a disastrous solo humiliated her on the world stage. Peter Hain is a politician who as a teenager was exiled to the UK from South Africa, becoming a leading activist in the anti-apartheid movement. Elected MP for Neath in 1991, he stood down in 2015 to join the House of Lords. He has written three environmental thrillers, with 'Fallout' being his first standalone thriller set in the 1980s. He weaves historical facts amongst the fiction, including his own experience of an un-detonated letter bomb arriving at his family home in the 1970s.

The essential truth is this: the Lamb wins. Jesus conquers. And our response shouldn't be obsessing over timelines, but living faithfully in the present, knowing that one day we'll stand before the throne. The final judgment scene is sobering yet hopeful. Two sets of books are opened: the books recording our deeds, and the book of life containing names of those covered by Christ's blood. This isn't fire insurance; it's a call to transformed living here and now, as people who belong to the coming King.

We start in the Gospel of John 6:15:”Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.” The most humble person who has ever lived! He said if you want to be the best or the greatest, you must become the least. They wanted to make Him king. He knew it was not His time. He withdrew to the mountains by Himself. Oh folks, we need to be more like Jesus. There are too many of us clamouring to become famous and popular. I looked up John Lennon. He was the leader of probably the most famous rock and roll band in the world at the time, The Beatles. He made a statement and he did apologise afterwards. He said that they were more popular than Jesus, but at the age of 40, he was gunned down and he died.Elvis Presley - I've been to Graceland in Memphis Tennessee, I went with my good friend Tommy. We went to that beautiful house to go and have a look. It was one of the saddest places I've ever been. They said he was such a generous man. Elvis Presley was regarded as the most popular man in the world. They called him “The King of Rock and Roll,” but he could never sleep. He used to play the piano into the early hours of the morning and he would sing hymns they said. His kitchen was open 24 hours a day. He was thronged with friends, well I don't know if they were friends or hangers-on, so much so that his wife and his little daughter eventually left him, and then at the age of 42 years old, in the newspapers, the headlines, “The king is dead.”I want to say to you today, don't seek after the popularity of men, of society, of this world, rather seek after the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, a Friend who sticks closer than a brother, Jesus Christ. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 14th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 34:29: ”…Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.” Moses had just come down from Mt Sinai with the Ten Commandments. He had spent 40 days and 40 nights in the presence of our Heavenly Father, and his face was shining like the sun. Isn't that amazing? We go to Matthew 17:2: ”…and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” That was Jesus, our Saviour, when He went up the Mount of Transfiguration. He shone like the sun when He met with His Heavenly Father. Folks, that can happen to you and me as well if we spend time with the Lord Jesus Christ, then we start to become more and more like Him. Moses had to wear a veil over his face. The people were too scared to come near Him because of the presence of God in His life. Surely that's how we should be as well. People should want to come and be with us because they see the love and the presence of God in our lives, not so much by the way we look, but rather by the way we act and live. You know, little children are very good judges of people who know God. They are drawn to people like that. I've seen them. They'll hang around and stand around and be close to people who spend time with God.I want to tell you about a man that made a big impression in my life when I was a new Christian, many many years ago. His name was Reverend Tom Parker and his dear wife, Gladys. They came all the way from Yorkshire, England and they became the ministers of the little church here in Greytown, one of the dearest men I think I've met in my life. He had a hard life. He was in the Second World War, serving on submarines. He never complained and was always gentle. He wasn't the greatest preacher that I've ever heard but he gave off the presence of Jesus wherever he went. I used to love just sitting, listening to him talking and he would get so caught up in the Holy Spirit, that you battled to follow him when he was preaching, but I want to tell you, he gave the presence of God wherever he went.You and I today as well, people just want the love of God and they are desperate to meet with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.Today, let's be Jesus to them. Daily Dose of Hope November 13, 2025   Scripture – John 20   Prayer: Almighty God and Risen Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, We come before you today with praise and a sense of awe. Even though you are incredibly mighty and take care of us in such fundamental ways, we struggle to stay focused on our faith.  Help us gather our scattered and distracted thoughts.  Help us take a moment of silence and remember who you are...Holy Spirit, speak to us today.  We want to hear your voice.  In Your Name, Amen.   Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the New Hope Church daily Bible reading plan.  As most of you know, we have been walking through the Gospels and will soon walk through Acts.  Today, we walk through John 20.  Let me start by saying this.  The resurrection of Jesus is the most critical event in our faith; we could argue it was the most critical event of all time.  Jesus wasn't simply resuscitated.  He wasn't just alive in a spiritual way. It wasn't his ghost that showed up in that room with the disciples.  Jesus was dead with no pulse, no heartbeat, wrapped in grave clothes and laid in a tomb, AND then he became alive again in a totally real, physical sense.  Death to life.  That is huge and that is what today's passage discusses with lots of great detail. It starts with an empty tomb.  Mary Magdalene heads over to the tomb on Sunday morning. We know from other Gospel accounts that she wanted to properly prepare Jesus' body for burial, as the Friday tomb situation had been rushed. It's then she saw that the stone had been removed. She goes to get Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved (most likely John, the author). They rushed to the tomb. Jesus' body was no longer there but the strips of cloth used to wrap his dead body were still present.    John went inside. He saw and believed. Think about those words. He had been walking with Jesus for three years. John saw miracle after miracle, healing after healing, feeding after feeding. But none of it made sense. It now makes sense. What Jesus said would happen has happened. The cross did not have the final word. Jesus Christ defeated death and darkness. He overcame the world.   Jesus then appears to Mary Magdalene, to the disciples, and then specifically to Thomas, who said he needed to see the scars himself to truly believe.  Jesus knew that his dear friends would be feeling thoroughly defeated and they needed his presence.  The Holy Spirit was not yet here and they needed to see his physical body to have the peace that only Jesus can bring.  He also wants to encourage them to continue his mission.  Nothing is done.  One of my favorite verses is John 20:21, Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And then he breathes on them so they receive the Spirit.  They won't fully receive the Spirit until Pentecost but I think they got a taste of God's Spirit right here, enough to empower them and encourage them to keep on keeping on.    The transforming power of God was at work then and is still at work today! The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives within us as believers. There is power in that, friends! We are resurrection people. We believe that what was dead can be brought to life. We believe that we are new people in Jesus Christ. We believe that we are raised with Christ. We believe that there is so much more to this world than meets the eye. One of the marks of our age is a rejection of authority.This rejection has led to a lack of respect for God and the government he appoints. Obedience to God and government, in that order, leads to great blessing. If we are to respect the authorities God places in our lives, we must start with a healthy respect for God Himself.To fear the Lord does not mean that a Christian lives in constant fear of punishment. Instead, it means to live with reverence, awe and respect for God. This leads to humility, obedience, confidence, trust, and security. Fear God, and you will have nothing else to fear.Unless the governments commands force us to disobey Gods commands, we should obey the government that God has appointed. This respect for government reflects our reverence for God Himself.“Be subject for the Lords sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God.
