As horror fans, it's hard enough trying to keep up with all the movies—let alone the memorabilia and collectibles—but just imagine having to live with one of us! In this episode, we've invited our wives onto the show to share their perspectives—not just on living with a slightly obsessive fan, but on how they've come to embrace the genre themselves. You'll hear how they became fans in their own right, and what kinds of films still give them the shivers. As you'll learn, being a horror fan has evolved into a shared experience—a communal passion that binds us together. While we might not all love the same titles, we all agree on one thing: this genre rules. We welcome Kat AuBuchon, Jenn Glonek, and Dawn Kitley as they join us to help Discover the Horror! Films Mentioned in this episode: August Underground (2001), August Underground's Mordum (2003), Cannibal Ferox (1981), Carcinoma (2014), Deadly Games aka Dial Code Santa Clause (1989), Demoniacs (1974), The Descent (2005), Flesh for Frankenstein (1973), Four Flies on Grey Velvet (1971), Frankenstein (1931), Friday the 13th (1980), Funny Games (1997), The Godfather (1972), Gods of the Deep (2023), Godzilla (1954), Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), Hard Ticket to Hawaii (1987), High Tension (2003), Hostel (2005), Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009), Inside (2007), Longlegs (2024), Mandy (2018), Nekromantik (1988), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Psycho (1960), Oddity (2024), One Missed Call (2008), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), The Redsin Tower (2006), The Rule of Jenny Penn (2025), Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975), Scream (1996), A Serbian Film (2010), Session 9 (2001), Sleepaway Camp (1983), Society (1989), Sting of Death (1966), The Substance (2024), The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014), Terrifier (2016), Terror Firmer (1999), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), The Thing (1982), Three on a Meathook (1972), Tromeo and Juliet (1996), Two Evil Eyes (1990), Without Warning (1980), Z.A.A.T. In the horror community, the easiest way to show you are a fan is by what you wear. The horror T-shirt has been a staple in the fandom for what seems like forever. But it wasn't always like that. To say that fans have it easy today is a slight understatement. Not only in terms of their availability, but of the selection that is out there! It is an easy way to show the public that you are a card-carrying horror fan, whether you're wearing a Texas Chain Saw t-shirt, Cannibal Holocaust, or even a Night of the Living Dead shirt, it gives others that immediate notation that this person likes horror films. Fright Rags, one of the bigger horror T-shirt companies, has been around for over 2 decades, so we decided to ask owner/operator Ben Scrivens on the show to not only talk about the ins and outs of running a T-shirt company, but also to talk about our love of horror films and conventions. Films mentioned in this episode: Blood Sucking Freaks (1976), Braindead (1992), Bride of Re-Animator (1990), Burial Ground (1981), Cannibal Holocaust (1980), Christine (1983), Day of the Dead (1985), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead 2 (1987), Faces of Death (1978), Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982), Friday the 13th: The New Blood (1988), The Gates of Hell (1980), The Greasy Strangler (2016), Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Hellraiser (1987), House by the Cemetery (1981), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), I Spit on your Grave (1978), It's Alive (1974), Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3D (1983), Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988), Let Sleeping Corpse Lie (1974), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985), Night of the Living Dead (1982), Q: The Winged Serpent (1982), Return of the Living Dead (1985), The Shining (1980), Tales from the Darkside (1990), Tenebrae (1982), Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), They Live (1988), The Thing (1982), Videodrome (1983), The Warriors (1979), The Wicker Man (1973)
You might not expect the likes of Rob Zombie's Halloween II making our top lists but you still may be surprised what we considered to be the best sequels we watched in the last year. You'll hear a question from Mike about including the Karate Kid from 2010 as a movie in contention for our lists that quickly turns into a rhetorical question that needed not be asked, whether or not we can surprise each other by what ends up on our lists and the one movie that ranks at the top for both of your fearless podcast hosts. In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we look back at 2009's sequel ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN II — why was this film so controversial and has this movie gotten better with age? Family is forever. On tonight's episode we return to Rob Zombie's Haddonfield where we get a front row seat inside the mind of Michael Myers; a mind filled with white horses, flashbacks, and more David Lynchian imagery than an episode of Twin Peaks. It's Halloween II…again. I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we prepare to drink the Halloween II kool-aid are fellow cinephiles and Rabbit in Red Lounge regulars, Ryan and Nick “Immortan Hoof”. Topics of discussion in this episode include how Halloween II is a gorier, yet somehow less disgusting sequel (at least as far as the white trash element is concerned); we breakdown the differences between the Theatrical slash job (no pun intended) and the Unrated Director's Cut; and finally, Sam Loomis morphs from a man who wanted to protect the world from Evil into an asshole who only cares about the benjamins and how good he looks on TV. Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com What are your thoughts on Rob Zombie's Halloween II? Unnecessary sequel or underseen masterpiece? And so concludes our trip into the mad mind of Rob Zombie. The Apocalypse Video Halloween Retrospective will return with an all new reboot as we tackle the final(?) leg of our journey through Haddonfield with David Gordon Green's Halloween. See you then, kiddies!

In this episode of The Whole Damn Enchilada, we dive deep into Rob Zombie's brutal and controversial reimaginings of Halloween with his 2007 and 2009 films. We start by discussing Zombie's unique approach to Michael Myers' backstory, examining how he gave the character a traumatic childhood and explored his psychology in a way no previous Halloween film had attempted. There's a spirited debate on whether this gritty origin story adds depth to Michael's character or strips away the mystique that made him terrifying. As we shift to Halloween II, the conversation gets intense, focusing on how Zombie took even bolder risks with surreal imagery, heavy symbolism, and a raw portrayal of trauma through Laurie Strode's character. We discuss the divisive choices he made in expanding the scope of Michael's inner world and the brutality of his kills. Throughout, we touch on memorable performances, the unique stylistic choices, and Zombie's overall impact on the franchise. We wrap up by debating where these films stand in Halloween history—whether they're misunderstood masterpieces or entries that took the series too far into grim territory. This episode's full of heated opinions, dark humor, and an in-depth look at two of the franchise's most divisive installments.

We also examine a new Stephen King series from Mike Flanagan and a new installment in the Trick 'r Treat franchise (no, not that). We've also got full sized film reviews with a creamy nougat center. Indulge in our thoughts on the original classic, John Carpenter's Halloween II as well as the absurd comedy horror from James Roday Rodriguez, Gravy. From talking about Pablo just being chaotic, to discussions on the whole brother/sister storyline, to Paul's love for how utterly unhinged Dr. Loomis is. What did you think of this synth-filled (potentially unnecessary?) sequel to a classic?Coming Soon... Send us a textJoin us as we take a look at some behind-the-scenes trivia for Halloween II. There was a lot of miscommunication, he said she said, interference, and on top of all of that, a future superstar (to us anyway) making their first film appearance.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
Send us a textDo you remember Halloween II from 1981? This one was panned for being less scary, more gory, and a ton more blood. We don't see the problem with any of that but people back in 81 did. We don't remember much about this movie, other than it takes place right where the original ended. It also takes place in a hospital and Jamie Lee Curtis got a bigger paycheck and basically laid in a hospital bed the entire film. So join us as we go back to the 80s and preview & review the first sequel to one of the most popular horror movies ever.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
It's almost Halloween, and it's been a while since we discussed a Michael Myers movie, so why not tackle 1981's divisive sequel HALLOWEEN II? This fever dream (literally) of a slasher has some fun kills, Donald Pleasance doing the most, and the introduction of the head-scratching explanation that Laurie is actually Michael's baby sister from the beginning of the first movie. We never really get to move past that in the rest of the Halloween franchise, so we might as well get into on this week's episode. Also, look at how red the blood is in this one! Hello Horror Heads! The Horror Show turns 10 in December so we figured it might be a good time to cover the iconic and, to many, the greatest of all time. We FINALLY take a look at Halloween (1978). We packed this full of info talking about John Carpenter, Debra Hill, and the rest of the gang. Join us next week for a dive into "Halloween II" and participate in our Halloween contest over on Instagram @ihatehorror! Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Who is this Sam Hain everyone keeps talking about? We watched: Halloween (1978) Halloween II (1981) Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1983) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
The Halloweenies continue a new October tradition! Last year, Michael Roffman and Dan Caffrey ventured to the Haddonfield Public Library to read Curtis Richards' excellent 1979 screen-to-page adaptation of the John Carpenter original Halloween. Fortunately for them, for us, for you, there are several more novelizations, and they're going through 'em all. This year sees the two dust off Dennis Etchison/Jack Martin's 1981 novelization for Halloween II. Together, they discuss Etchison's writing style, the additional scenes, the dreams of Laurie Strode, and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Aine and Alex have dreams of their mothers on white horses as they discuss Rob Zombie's polarizing remakes of Halloween and Halloween II. With a cast of horror icons to choose from, the girls cover everything from preferred Laurie Strode characterizations to casting your wife in all your movies. So sell out for a book deal and work a late shift at the hospital with an Oscar winner for the thirteenth Tangential Terror minisode!
"He was my patient for fifteen years. He became an obsession with me until I realized that there was nothing within him, neither conscious nor reason that was... even remotely human." We watched "Halloween II" with our friend Gabe Munoz and we'll be right back after we x-ray our entire candy haul. This movie wastes no time and picks up mere moments after Dr. Loomis (a frenzied Donald Pleasence) unloads 6 rounds into Michael Meyers at the end of the 1978 original. With all of our characters either unalived by Michael or under sedation in the emergency room, we get a whole new cast of Haddonfield residents to get picked off by "the shape". Is it to this movies detriment that OG Final Girl Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is in a hospital bed most of the movie? Maybe. Is her wig an even worse offence? Definitely. Original director John Carpenter may not have returned to helm this one, but he penned the script along with then wife and collaborator Debra Hill so the "bones" of the story and characters are there (spooky pun intended), but can Laurie's minimal screen time and Dr. Loomis frantic delivery save this one? The "Halloween" franchise has had its ups and downs but this kooky entry is a lot of fun and definitely worth the watch.
