Ever wonder what's really happening in the operating room once you're asleep on the table? In this jaw-dropping episode of Plastic Surgery Uncensored, Dr. Rady Rahban is joined by Paula, a seasoned nurse practitioner who has worked in more than 40 operating rooms—mostly in the heart of Beverly Hills. Together, they pull back the surgical curtain to expose shocking truths about what actually happens during surgery… and it's not always what patients think. From surgeons leaving the room during closures, to techs performing tasks they legally shouldn't, and anesthesiologists cutting corners to keep peace—this episode dives into the dark side of convenience and efficiency in the world of cosmetic surgery.Whether you're considering surgery or know someone who is, this episode is a must-listen. It's not about fear—it's about empowerment.
Freedom calls from the wide-open road as Bobby makes a life-changing decision to abandon apartment living and embrace nomadic comedy life. After a frustrating apartment hunt culminating in a deceptive 15-month lease attempt, Bobby walks away from conventional housing altogether in favor of living out of his car while touring the country. This raw, honest episode captures the moment of transition as Bobby prepares to leave his Austin apartment for good. He calculates that out of the thirteen months he's paid rent, he's only spent about four to six months actually living there—a realization that makes his decision surprisingly clear. With characteristic humor, he recounts the apartment hunting nightmare: misleading agents, occupied apartments being shown by mistake, and the final straw of a suspiciously long lease term that sent him literally running for the door. The conversation shifts to his unexpected back injury (pulled while coughing—the same thing that happened during his last move) and ambitious plans for the road. Between dreams of buying a dirt bike before securing housing and reflections on creative focus, Bobby shares a surprisingly philosophical perspective on choosing freedom over stability. "Anytime I've ever slept in my car, I always just feel like I'm doing the thing I've always wanted to do," he confesses, revealing how this seemingly radical choice actually aligns perfectly with his values and aspirations.Whether you've ever questioned conventional life choices or simply enjoy Bobby's unique perspective on the comedy lifestyle, this episode offers both laughs and genuine inspiration. Check out his upcoming tour dates in Cleveland (May 30-31) and Austin (June 6-7), and consider supporting his Patreon for just a dollar—he'll even send you stickers from the road!

Few technological advances have made the kind of splash –– and had the potential long-term impact –– that ChatGPT did in November 2022. It made a nonprofit called OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, household names around the world. Today, ChatGPT is still the world's most popular AI Chatbot; OpenAI recently closed a $40 billion funding deal, the largest private tech deal on record. But who is Sam Altman? And was it inevitable that OpenAI would become such a huge player in the AI space? Kara speaks to two fellow tech reporters who have tackled these questions in their latest books: Keach Hagey is a reporter at The Wall Street Journal. Her book is called “The Optimist: Sam Altman, OpenAI and the Race to Reinvent the Future.” Karen Hao writes for publications including The Atlantic and leads the Pulitzer Center's AI Spotlight Series. Her book is called “Empire of AI: Dreams and Nightmares in Sam Altman's OpenAI.” They speak to Kara about Altman's background, his short firing/rehiring in 2023 known as “The Blip”, how Altman used OpenAI's nonprofit status to recruit AI researchers and get Elon Musk on board, and whether OpenAI's mission is still to reach AGI, artificial general intelligence. Hello! Today we have on repeat guest Karen Hao to talk about her new blockbuster book “Empire of AI: Dreams and Nightmares in Sam Altman's OpenAI.” It's an amazing, deeply reported book that somehow encapsulates the history of AI, Silicon Valley, and OpenAI while also making a needed and clear argument about how we should think about this technology. Truly like if “Barbarians at the Gate” met “The Shock Doctrine” and it was about AI. We talk about the beginnings of OpenAI, how it burns a colonial path throughout the rest of the world in the form of data centers and exploitative labor, and how we might find a better alternative to Sam Altman's plan to take over the world. Can't recommend this book more highly — go get it! This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit goodbye.substack.com/subscribe

Hephibah Grace worked long hours without any downtime so that she wouldn't stop to figure out what was bothering her internally. This worked well until she ended up at her grandfather's funeral. Her carefully constructed world came crashing down, and she couldn't figure out why. Nightmares of snakes kept her from sleeping and started her on a journey of discovery. God was her hero and rescued her from her past of SRA. Discover with me her healing journey, the healing modalities she tried, how studying the names of God helped her to trust Him, what HOLD means to her, and how healing is a lifelong journey. Today's poem is one of the few enduring works of a poet and playwright who burned brightly during his heyday and then blinked out almost entirely. Happy reading.Leigh, son of James Mathews Leigh, was born in London on 29 March 1837. At an early age he engaged in literary pursuits. From time to time appeared collections of his lyrics, under the titles of Carols of Cockayne, 1869 (several editions); Gillott and Goosequill, 1871; A Town Garland: a Collection of Lyrics, 1878; and Strains from the Strand: Trifles in Verse, 1882. His verse was always fluent, but otherwise of very slender merit. For the stage he translated many French comic operas. His first theatrical essay was in collaboration with Charles Millward in a musical spectacle for the Theatre Royal in Birmingham. His ‘Falsacappa,' music by Offenbach, was produced at the Globe Theatre on 22 April 1871; ‘Le Roi Carotte' at the Alhambra on 3 June 1872; ‘Bridge of Sighs,' opera-bouffe, at the St. James's, 18 Nov. 1872; ‘White Cat,' a fairy spectacle, at the Queen's, Long Acre, on 2 Dec. 1875; ‘Voyage dans la Lune,' opera-bouffe, at the Alhambra, on 15 April 1876; ‘Fatinitza,' opera-bouffe (the words were printed), adapted from the German, at the Alhambra on 20 June 1878; ‘The Great Casimir,' a vaudeville, at the Gaiety, on 27 Sept. 1879; ‘Cinderella,' an opera, with music by J. Farmer, at St. James's Hall, on 2 May 1884 (the words were published in 1882); ‘The Brigands,' by H. Meilhac and L. Halévy, adapted to English words by Leigh, was printed in 1884. For ‘Lurette,' a comic opera, Avenue, 24 March 1883, he wrote the lyrics; and with Robert Reece he produced ‘La Petite Mademoiselle,' comic opera, Alhambra, on 6 October 1879. He edited ‘Jeux d'Esprit written and spoken by French and English Wits and Humorists,' in 1877, and wrote Mark Twain's ‘Nightmares' in 1878.His last theatrical venture—a complete failure—was ‘The Prince Methusalem,' a comic opera, brought out at the Folies Dramatiques (now the Kingsway), Great Queen Street, London, on 19 May 1883. He was a Spanish, Portuguese, and French scholar, a brilliant and witty conversationalist, and a humorous singer. He died in his rooms in Lowther's private hotel, 35 Strand, London, on 16 June 1883, and was buried in Brompton cemetery on 22 June.-bio via Wikipedia This is a public episode.
