An “Emotional Conduit”, Rayko is a prolific songwriter and an energetic, sought- after vocalist Rayko composed the melodies for Gratitude and sang, played on and produced all pieces as well. Her compositions often contain themes of social justice, female perspectives and cross-cultural challenge. Born in Tokyo, Rayko also composed, arranged and performed songs for the award-winning Amazon Prime series, “Man In the High Castle.” Her other compositions include “Reaching For The Stars” and “Behind The Sun”—co-written with Grammy winner Isha Erskine, as well as the ending theme for the feature “The Wolves of Saving Hill”— featuring Kurt Fuller of “Pursuit of Happyness,” and the late Michael Massee of Spider-Man 2. Rayko is the vocalist in the house band of a popular Adult Swim show, and currently the voice of a brand new ride in Tokyo Disneyland. Inspired by a recent trip down the Nile River to “The Birthplace of Civilization”, songwriter Frank Kilpatrick created Gratitude to “Draw attention to everything we have to be thankful for.“ Frank created lyrics for all songs in the Gratitude suite and oversaw video and music production. He has written numerous songs in exploratory, harmonic and romantic genres that are available for licensing. Recently, he created “Stay Alive” – a 90-minute Suicide Prevention video podcast. Frank frequently collaborates with: Billy Hinsche – best known for his 30+ year touring role with The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson; co-Founder of Dino, Desi and Billy; and singer and/or songwriting contributor to the recordings of Elton John and Chicago and Scott Paige – best known for his work with the international traveling bands for Pink Floyd, Toto and Supertramp, as well as others. Have you heard the one about the adventure that only became an adventure because you started writing it down? When Darrell and I moved into an RV in the Pennsylvania wilderness, a friend back “home” in Minnesota wanted to hear everything. In real letters. By snail mail. When other friends wanted to hear everything, too, I started sending them copies. The fun of seeing their reactions to my latest is topped only by the thrill of writing it, and in this edition of Doing What Works we talk about the life-changing magic of jotting things down. Here are your show notes…Would you like to be on the mailing list for missives from the RV [ mailto: DoingWhatWorks@MaureenAnderson.com ]? After a high profile career designing, drawing and painting images for movie poster art in Hollywood — Return of the Jedi, Labyrinth, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom — Chris now feels driven to produce works which celebrate compelling stories of American perseverance — the Tuskegee Airmen, First Nations peoples of America's Pacific Northwest, and the Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during WWII. It's been an unusual career path, to say the least. Chris was a star on the Southern Oregon College wrestling team when he dropped out in 1974 rather than bow to the inevitable pressure to become a high school wrestling coach. He loaded up his '68 sky blue Camaro and hit the road, picking up jobs from southern California to Montana and living out of his car. After he ran out of gas in Boise, Idaho, he settled there for a year and a half and worked as a bouncer at the Bronco Hut (the college bar where he met his wife), a lift operator at a ski resort, and as an utterly unqualified counselor at a home shelter for troubled boys. All the time he created art — drawing behind the bar, sculpting unflattering portraits of ski resort personnel, and carving the bar's Billy club into a more appealing shape. Chris' older brother convinced him he'd soon be too old for this bohemian, aimless lifestyle and that he might want to apply to the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He put together a crude portfolio, submitted an application and remembers “it surprised the crap out of me when I was actually accepted”. In the middle of the college program, Chris still hadn't figured out a painting system that he liked, so one weekend he locked himself in a room and refused to come out until he'd conquered it. In 1979, he graduated from Art Center with honors. A diploma from art school, so what next? Pouring and finishing concrete for foundations, walkways, driveways and most everything else that required concrete until he heard that legendary illustrators Charles White III and David Willardson were starting a studio and looking for young talent. Chris' persistence paid off and he was hired. After months of sketching he was finally assigned to paint the marquee art for The Mountain Men. Soon afterwards he discovered the airbrush and the whole process became fun, especially incorporating brushwork with airbrush techniques. He painted the clouds, skies, and water all from his Pacific Northwest childhood memories, and was known as The Sky King, a tribute to his unmatched ability to paint natural backgrounds After four years, Chris left Willardson and White ready for his next challenge — painting people. Yes, he learned to do that, too painting and drawing the comprehensive and finished poster and magazine promotional art for Return of the Jedi, Peggy Sue Got Married, Labyrinth, The Abyss, and who could forget the portrait of the studly Harrison Ford on the Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom theatrical advance poster art? In 1988 he picked up his family and relocated to the state of Washington where he's once again tackled a new, but classic, technique. Now he's brush-painting stories of American perseverance. If you haven't been hearing this through previous episodes, please hear this today, your mental well-being is essential to your overall health! Your mind is always with you. If it isn't in the right place, it isn't going to help how you feel or improve your life in the long term. Without the basic foundational element of feeling like you are worth something, you will not be able to maintain any positive changes in your physical state. Today Brian Sachetta is with me to discuss his passion for helping people to manage their mental health by addressing anxiety and depression. Brian is an author, blogger, and software developer from Boston, Massachusetts. He started to suffer, from what he now knows was anxiety, in high school. When he had a panic attack the first week of college, he knew he needed to do something about it, because he never wanted to experience that again. That started a 10-year journey of research that culminated with his book “Get Out of Your Head: A Toolkit for Living with and Overcoming Anxiety”. He explains that when we are anxious, we are in our head, thinking too much. We need to get to a place where we can think logically and reasonably. In his book, Brian teaches us to zoom in on our fears and gives us a framework of ten strategies that we can use in a moment of acute anxiety. We can use them all or just try the ones that resonate with you. He also teaches us about zooming out to look at our lives, as a whole, so we can get in fewer of those acute, fearful, anxious places. Brian got control of his anxiety but realized that he also suffered from depression. He has written a second book, "Get Out of Your Head Vol. 2: Navigating the Abyss of Depression" which was released yesterday! (I'm putting Amazon links for both of his books in the shownotes). Navigating the Abyss of Depression contains personal stories like his first book, but is more research based. He references studies and technical frameworks from psychology and psychiatry journals. Tune in today to hear Brian discuss the importance of breathing, exercise, the effects of the autonomic nervous system, perception cycles and much more as he tries to help people get through this heavy and serious subject. By talking about it he hopes to help people be more open and honest with themselves and others. [Digital Drift 2015] NOTE: The James Cameron season begins! And rather than making you go back and root through the School of Movies Archive podcast feed for the shows on some of his very best films, we are re-releasing The Terminator and Terminator 2 that we recorded for Digital Drift in 2015. Along with this I have done an extensive re-edit of our 2012 show on Aliens for Digital Gonzo. That will be out tomorrow. Coming up in the next few weeks, intermitting with our show on The Eternals and possibly Ghostbusters: Afterlife we have brand new episodes on The Abyss, True Lies, Titanic and Avatar.  Now to the film that brought the sci-fi movement in the 80s to a new plateau and made James Cameron a name in the industry. This dark tale of a soldier from a future war coming back to protect an unborn leader may have many elements which stem from a bunch of other works, but it tells itself in such dramatic, intense fashion that it feels special and unnerving, epic and yet intimate. This thing cost $6.4 million and changed cinema forever.  We turn over every aspect as we establish just how central to the web of sci-fi influence throughout the 80s and beyond this movie is. Juice's team opened up a preorder to sell “Already Dead” as single CDs for 99 cents, which have already sold out. Back in June, it was announced that his next album would be released as a trilogy, the first of which is titled The Party Never Ends. “It's 3 parts to the album,” Lil Bibby wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “First part of the album is 90% done, jus waiting on [Travis Scott] spam him!” Juice's former manager, Peter Jideonwo, revealed prior to Bibby's tweet that the first installation would include features from Lil Uzi Vert and “a few other big people.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

Climate Pledge Arena, home of the Seattle Kraken, is the new ‘Denver Airport'. Although the facility professes to represent green environmentalism, equality, health, and safety, underneath this facade is a Corporate-Banking-UN agenda plainly laid out on the arena's website. Built around the mythological Kraken - think Cthulhu, Spectre, Hydra - the arena demands masks, proof of shot(s), and peace of mind towards the toxic chemicals, or long-term protectants, sprayed throughout the venue. Partners in the climate pledge include Amazon, an elitist coffee house, and an airline! Ultimately, all of the standing, sitting, chanting, and cheering, directs energy towards the symbol of the Kraken. This would make every arena experience equivalent to an enormous energetic ritual wherein the arena itself is a tabernacle, altar, or shrine to Cthulhu. Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle is essentially an altar to the new normal.  Support this podcast

Listen to this episode to learn more: [02:19] - April's backstory [05:10] - The time she faced mental health challenges [07:19] - What to do if you're in an abusive relationship [09:54] - Domestic violence beyond physical abuse [13:16] - When men are the victims of domestic violence [14:04] - The stigma attached to domestic violence [15:29] - About April's publishing house [18:22] - How getting their stories out helps victims of domestic violence [19:07] - The process of going from victim to survivor to thriver [21:41] - The notion of preventing domestic violence [23:25] - The Supporter's Toolkit [24:11] - How perfection can be a red flag for an abusive relationship [27:02] - There are more kinds of abuse than physical alone [32:06] - The importance of having truth-tellers both for the victim and the abuser [38:28] - Who to choose as a truth-teller in your life NOTABLE QUOTES: “Write a journal to express yourself. And as you write things down and reflect back, things become easier to let go.” “When the forgiveness factor is there fully, the victim becomes the victor. They become the victor of their own story.” “Supporters are the network that allows people to escape from domestic violence to happen.” “We are all flawed.” “If things are repeating. This is starting to form a pattern. We need to be asking the questions and say, Hey, these things didn't use to happen. And now they're happening? How can I help you? Do you need help? What's going on?” “It is important to have truth-tellers in our lives, not only for the one who is being abused but also for the one who's doing the abuse. If you're the one that's doing the abuse and if you have the right truth-tellers in your life, then there is a likelihood of you getting past that or working through that. So that's no longer a part of your life.” “Truth tellers are the change agents.” “The inherent behavior of a man is to help others. And unfortunately, it's been dismissed in our society.” “Be really careful about who you choose to have as a truth-teller in your life. Because it is not what they say it is how they say it. Find truth-tellers that will tell you the truth with love.” “A bad truth-teller is the one who doesn't love you. She/he's not helping you or serving you.” USEFUL RESOURCES: https://www.apriltribegiauque.com/  https://tinyurl.com/BeaconOfLightPodcast  https://www.instagram.com/aprilgiauque  https://www.facebook.com/april.giauque  https://twitter.com/TribeApril  https://www.linkedin.com/in/april-tribe-giauque-msed-455578145  https://tinyurl.com/PinpointsOfLightBook  https://tinyurl.com/OutOfDarknessBookATG  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIHWTfL9q2jawYGqN6W1yOg CONNECT WITH JOHN Website - https://thejohnhulen.com  Clubhouse - https://www.joinclubhouse.com/@johnhulen  Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/johnhulen  Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/johnhulen  Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/johnhulen  LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnhulen  YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLX_NchE8lisC4NL2GciIWA  EPISODE CREDITS Intro music provided by Tony Palacios - https://www.instagram.com/tonytonedog/  Outro music provided by Jeff Scheetz - https://jeffscheetz.com/

David and Brandon host Mike Johson of PW Insider. Mike is one of the most well-known and respected writers covering the world of professional wrestling today, having traveled all over the United States and Canada to cover everything from the grandest pay-per-view events to the smallest independent shows. He's sat everywhere you can imagine - from Domed Stadiums and major arenas to converted supermarkets and housing project basements (yes, really!) - while studying, covering, and writing about the ever-changing, at-times insane genre known as sports entertainment. Mike has been writing full-time about professional wrestling since 2004 when PWInsider.com was founded. He's interviewed hundreds of stars and legends from every aspect of professional wrestling, including The Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Eric Bischoff, Jesse Ventura, Rob Van Dam, Mick Foley, Ted DiBiase, Tommy Dreamer, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Kevin Sullivan, Stan Hansen, Abyss, Billy Robinson, Tully Blanchard, Taz, and many, many others. Beyond his audio duties in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, Mike can be heard weekly co-hosting "The Mouthpiece Wrestling Show", which is syndicated in a number of major radio markets, including Boston, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and Providence, Rhode Island, among others. Prior to PWInsider.com, Mike worked with the original Extreme Championship Wrestling, serving as its official website's historian, and was regularly credited on ECW broadcasts as a researcher for announcer Joey Styles on International talents. Mike was also heavily involved with the popular ECW DVD series released by Pioneer Home Video, including scripting several of the most popular titles in that line. Mike also assisted with the company's action figure and video game lines. Beyond ECW, Mike has written for the influential Wrestling Lariat Newsletter (currently being archived in The PWInsider.com Elite section), Total Wrestling Magazine in Great Britain, and 1Wrestling.com. Currently, Mike is also working as a consultant for Capstone Press on a series of eleven (and counting) children's books about professional wrestling that have been released to school and public libraries across the United States. Prior to writing full-time, Mike worked for several years in management and production roles for the film and Broadway worlds, allowing him to bring a very unique point of view to professional wrestling as an entertainment property. A native New Yorker, Mike is proud to work seven days a week and spend endless hours writing, traveling, recording audio, conducting interviews, and watching every form of pro wrestling he can. He prays every day that he'll always have this, his dream job.
