It's PART ONE of our HALLOWEEN SPECIAL! And part one of R. L. Stine's classic Halloween Night double. Becky and Jill chat all things All Hallows, as Brenda and Halley battle it out over rotting jack o' lanterns, headless birds and goofy two-timing boys. Plus all the usual nineties love with Lipgloss Jill's Nostalgic Number Ones and Becky's Box Office features. FYI it gets a bit sweary so even though Point Horror books are suitable for younger readers, our podcast might not be. It's Part One of Erin and Melody's recap of Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean. Lady Calpernia Hartwell is done with being a well-behaved wallflower, so she seeks out the most handsome, devilish rake in London to help her start misbehaving AND WE COULDN'T STOP SWOONING. Thank you, Erin C, for the recommendation! Bonus Content: The Gals decide which characters they are in Grace and Frankie and The Golden Girls, Erin talks about her herbal school classmates, Melody details her dream of starting an elderly lady commune with all her girlfriends, Erin gets a sneak peak of Melody's speech for Erin's wedding (if she's tapped!), the BBC's Fleabag and Hulu's Harlots get some dandy love, and you get the ladies thoughts on whether or not The Odyssey is a romantic story. Spoiler alert: NOPE! Self Love Recommendations: - Watch Grace and Frankie on Hulu! - Be a Kendall, not a Krystal. Yes, we watch the Bachelor, yes, we recorded this right after Kendall and Krystal's 2-on-1 date with the human saltine cracker that is Arie. Her compassion, wisdom, and empathy in the face of her hurt feelings WAS INSPIRING. What show were we watching again??
This week's Dear Stranger and Friend is pretty special to me. It's Part One of a two-part episode, my bud Donald is the guest (someone I've been trying to get on since the start), and we talk about a lot of interesting/heavy things. In this part we talk about growing up with brothers, remembering the early days of the Internet, and towards the middle, we talk about addiction and trying to quit our vices. I'm so glad and grateful that Donald was willing to be open and honest with me about what he's going through. It takes a lot of strength to talk about it privately, so for him to do it on a podcast is amazing to me.
