Send us a textOn today's episode we travel to IMMA and the Dublin Book Festival to meet and talk with İlhan Sami Çomak, a Kurdish Turkish poet who has spent almost  thirty years imprisoned in Turkey. He was arrested in 1994 and charged with membership of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Part. In jail, Çomak released eight books of poetry and became one of Turkey's longest serving political prisoners. He is here in Dublin to mark the Day of the imprisoned Writer at the invitation of Irish PEN which followed an extensive international campaign for his release. Le logo de Domino's Pizza, reconnaissable entre tous, cache une histoire aussi simple que symbolique. Les trois points blancs que l'on voit sur le domino ne sont pas là par hasard : ils représentent les trois premières pizzerias ouvertes par les fondateurs de la marque au moment de sa création, en 1965. À l'origine, l'entreprise s'appelait DomiNick's, avant d'être rebaptisée Domino's Pizza.L'idée des fondateurs, Tom Monaghan et son frère James, était d'ajouter un point sur le logo à chaque nouvelle ouverture de restaurant. Mais ce projet ambitieux a vite été abandonné : face à la croissance fulgurante de la chaîne, il aurait fallu ajouter des centaines, puis des milliers de points… Ce qui aurait rendu le logo illisible ! Les trois points initiaux sont donc restés, comme un symbole des débuts modestes de l'entreprise et de son expansion spectaculaire.Le choix du domino comme emblème n'est pas seulement un jeu de mots sur le nom : il évoque aussi l'idée d'enchaînement et de rapidité, comme les dominos qui tombent les uns après les autres — une belle métaphore pour une marque qui a bâti sa réputation sur la livraison rapide. Quant aux couleurs, elles ont également une signification : le rouge symbolise la chaleur, la passion et la sauce tomate, tandis que le bleu représente la fiabilité et la confiance.Mais au-delà de Domino's, le monde de la pizza regorge d'anecdotes étonnantes. Par exemple, la célèbre pizza hawaïenne, garnie d'ananas et de jambon, ne vient pas du tout d'Hawaï. Elle a été inventée en 1962 au Canada, par un restaurateur d'origine grecque, Sam Panopoulos, qui cherchait à innover en mélangeant sucré et salé.Autre curiosité : Pizza Hut a déjà lancé une “boîte à pizza DJ” au Royaume-Uni, équipée de platines en carton et connectable en Bluetooth, permettant aux clients de mixer de la musique après leur repas. Un coup marketing aussi farfelu que créatif.Enfin, la pizza “Detroit style”, à pâte épaisse et bords caramélisés, est née dans les usines automobiles de Détroit.
