When they reunited a few years ago, they found their music has evolved from youthful, unrestrained, often "sensationalized" displays of prodigious outbursts on their instruments, to a hybrid of powerful, yet highly sensitive improvisation and composition. A favorite of Cleveland jazz writer and folk icon Harvey Pekar, their music lead Harvey to proclaim that birth was "So good that it's scary." You be the judge. How to practice improvisation, limiting self-criticism, choosing gear for the gig, and much more with Dub Trio/Birth's Joe Tomino
Josh Smith, Jeremy Bleich, and Joe Tomino came together as the band Birth in Cleveland in 1998 with a shared mission that launched them into a world of meaningful and rewarding musical experiences. After a number of years they parted onto different paths. But they're back now wiser, stronger, tested, and keen to bring their evolved sound to receptive ears.

Dub Trio seamlessly blends aggressive rock, reggae, metal and dub studio logic into am utterly unique and thrilling musical aggregate. They've just released their fifth album and ahead of embarking on a tour opening for Incubus, Joe stopped by to talk shop.
