Eleven Grammys. Six decades. And a life that has taken in the Black Panther Party, a brief consideration of the convent, and a farm in rural Georgia with her own well water. Chaka Khan has GREAT CHAT! Chaka takes us back to the beginnings of her iconic journey, opening up about running away from home at 16, singing in Chicago clubs for twenty dollars a night and her time with the Black Panther Party. She reflects on why awards have never been the point for her, why she believes there is no competition in self-expression, and says plainly that if she had not had singing as an outlet, she would not be here today. She talks candidly about her friendship with Prince and the conversations she still has with his painting on her wall. She also shares the piece of life-saving advice Etta James pulled her aside to give her the very first time they met, what she learned about Billie Holiday from her grandmother's record collection, and why sleep is the secret to her still looking great in her 70's. Plus she joins the group chat to answer your questions, including the ideal height for a man, the most extravagant thing she has ever bought herself, and the extraordinary story of how a psychic in Canada told her to buy her farm before she had even stepped inside the house. Chaka Khan's new album 'Chakzilla' is out on18th September. You can pre-save on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/album/0dQyfJN05ICpQfK9dvKRRF?si=f75205cdd100494a

He is the man behind one of the most talked about lines on TV this year. But there is a lot more to Tom Glynn-Carney than playing Aegon Targaryen in ‘House of The Dragon'. In this chat with Josh, Tom breaks down THAT season three finale moment and shares so many stories from filming the show. He also reflects on being cast in ‘Dunkirk' with no film experience whatsoever and the note Christopher Nolan gave him that he has carried onto every single job since. Tom also talks candidly about how growing up in working class northern England where men were expected to sit on their feelings affected him and why he only started properly opening up five years ago. Make sure you stick around for the best piece of advice from his therapist that we all need to take note of! He also gets honest about the darker side of the fandom and the online bullying that spilled into his last relationship. Plus Tom joins the group chat to answer your questions, and reveals the great chat that has mattered most to him. You are going to want to know about this chat! Oh, and he has not been on holiday in seven years. We are working on it… Jet2 if you are watching…

Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker break down the Blue Jays' 7-6 loss vs. the Rays as the series is tied at one game apiece. They take your calls and texts, and get right to a massive blunder from Jesús Sánchez that led to a huge Rays inning - can the team afford to keep running Sánchez out there if he's also not going to produce consistently on offence? They discuss Max Scherzer's outing - the Sánchez mistakes aside, has Scherzer been pitching well enough to stay in the rotation? Plus, they get into some of the injuries sustained to Brett Bateman and potentially Josh Smith, Alejandro Kirk having another big night, and Charles McAdoo continuing to get on base. The group chat is open and things are about to go off. In this special, Josh revisits some of the group chat moments that have really got you talking, and answers your questions too… there is no holding back. Theo James reveals his deeply embarrassing MSN Messenger name, the last time he had his heart broken, and what people consistently get wrong about him. Dame Elaine Paige tells us exactly what she got up to with Freddie Mercury at his house, and trust us, you want to be in that room. Gemma Chan finally addresses the question everyone has been asking about a Crazy Rich Asians sequel. And Delta Goodrem agrees to perform at a fan's wedding live on air. Consider that binding. Plus Josh opens up about the one chat he has never been able to share publicly, why interviewing Oprah was the most terrifying and most important conversation of his career, and the one guest he wants on the show more than anyone else. You need to listen to find out.

Six months in and the great chats are still coming. To mark the milestone, Josh is revisiting some of the episodes that have meant the most to him and got the most of you talking. In this special, we kick things off with Jason Isaacs, who came in saying he doesn't usually go in depth on things and then absolutely went in depth on things. Then there is Charithra Chandran, whose honesty about race, representation and the industry sparked more comments on social media than almost any other episode. Jennifer Garner tells the story of running screaming down Broadway the night she first saw herself on a cinema screen alongside Maggie Smith and Albert Finney, and why thirty years later she still cannot quite believe she is here. Theo James gets refreshingly honest about toxic masculinity and what it means to be a man right now. And Katie Price opens up about body dysmorphia, the one mirror in her house, and why she says this is finally, genuinely, the happiest she has ever been.
Instead of closing up shop and selling off all their veterans at the trade deadline, the Blue Jays picked up some interesting new toys to play with. And so far it's worked! They now sit just 2.5 games back of the final AL playoff spot, despite continuing to receive far too little from their established stars. The rotation looks like it will become a major issue again soon, but for the moment things are looking up. And guys like Brett Bateman, Charles McAdoo, and Josh Smith have been—along with the bullpen, of course—big reasons why.And on this week's episode we're talking all about it! Plus a fascinating rumour that might have seen the Jays flip José Soriano before he ever threw a pitch for them, obligatory lockout talk, and a whole lot more!** FOR AD-FREE EPISODES AND WEEKLY BONUS SHOWS, FIND US AT patreon.com/BJHH ** Hosted on Acast. In this episode of Take-Away with Sam Oches, Sam talks with Josh Smith, the founder and owner of Neon Greens, a St. Louis business that opened in 2024 as both a fast-casual salad restaurant and a working farm. The restaurant is attached to a hydroponics operation where Neon Greens grows its greens before sending it to the kitchen via conveyor belt. Not only does this create a great show for guests, but it also provides them with high-quality, hyperlocal produce at a time when food-borne illnesses are making consumers lose trust in the supply chain. Josh joined the podcast to talk about the state of the farm-to-table movement, why our supply chain needs to be decentralized, and why restaurants must have a clear “why” that drives their growth. In this conversation, you'll find out why:Restaurants are telling a story, and the operator's conviction in that story determines its successThe supply chain needs to diversify, and hydroponics is just one solution Consumers crave transparency in their relationship with foodEvery menu item has a story, and your employees should know how to tell itThe nexus of quality, value, and experience will drive the future of restaurants Your “why” isn't just your purpose; it's your decision-making compassBig, transformative ideas don't need scale to make an impactHave feedback or ideas for Take-Away? Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker break down the Blue Jays' 5-4 win vs. the Phillies to open the series! They take your calls and texts, and discuss the dramatic ending to the game - was Tyler Rogers the right choice late despite rarely throwing in the ninth inning? Did the Jays get lucky with Alejandro Kirk swiping for Trea Turner with his knee on home plate? They get into the debut for José Soriano, get into bullpen appearances for Mason Fluharty, Lázaro Estrada, Brendon Little, and knuckleballer Matt Waldron - did John Schneider push the right buttons? Plus, they discuss a three-for-four night - including a home run - for Josh Smith - what does the rest of 2026 look like for him? Guests: Chicago Cubs pitchers Kevin Gausman and Trent Thornton; Blue Jays third baseman Josh Smith This week in Deep Left Field we travel to the north side of Chicago to see Kevin Gausman in his new digs at venerable Wrigley Field. The hope was to see Gausman square off against the team that traded him less than a week ago, but he felt that might be a bit too much. Instead, we got what might be our last conversation with the right-hander for a while. He compares Wrigley to the Rogers Centre, reiterates his love for Toronto but also says how happy he is to be in a winning situation in Chicago. We also speak to former Blue Jay and now Cubs pitcher Trent Thornton, who raves about his new team's acquisition of Gausman and looks back at his own Jays days, plus one of the new Jays acquired at the trade deadline, infielder Josh Smith, joins us to introduce himself to the masses. All that, plus your Bluejays comments and questions in the mailbag at deepleftfield@the star.ca!
Blake Murphy is joined by Jonah Birenbaum of theScore to discuss why the Blue Jays didn't add a bat at the trade deadline and whether Dylan Cease has a legitimate case to win the AL Cy Young Award. Later, Kevin Pillar (30:03) breaks down José Soriano's arsenal, explains why he's a believer in Josh Smith, and shares his thoughts on Dylan Cease's impressive season. Mike Petriello (50:12) of MLB.com then joins the show to discuss the Blue Jays, Soriano's taking the hill, Luis Arraez, the Phillies, and the Washington Nationals. To wrap up, Charlotte Varnes (1:14:49) of The Athletic previews the Phillies ahead of their three-game series with Toronto, including an update on the club and a look at the pitching staff the Blue Jays will face. From his breakout role as the unforgettable Marc St. James in Ugly Betty, to starring alongside Harrison Ford in Shrinking, Michael Urie has spent the last two decades building an acclaimed career across TV, film and Broadway. Fresh from his run in London's West End in Oh, Mary! Michael is Josh's guest on this week's episode of Josh Smith's Great Chat Show. In this chat with Josh, Michael looks back on the audition for Ugly Betty that changed his life (and almost didn't happen!) and tells Josh what it was really like working alongside Martha Stewart and Victoria Beckham. He shares why his friendship with Jessica Chastain has stood the test of time since they met at drama school and spills on the messages he receives (or doesn't!) from Shrinking co-star Harrison Ford. He also reflects on his younger struggles to feel accepted, which so many of us will relate to. Plus he joins the group chat to answer your questions - including about the most niche job he's ever had. Plot spoiler: it involves a pig!

With the Trade Deadline in the rearview mirror Justin and Patrick convene to assess the moves made by the Toronto Blue Jays.Out are Kevin Gausman, Daulton Varsho, Jeff Hoffman and top prospect Arjun Nimmala. In are Jose Soriano, Josh Smith, Jameson Taillon and a handful of prospects. Did the Jays do enough? Is there still a chance at competing down the stretch?
Guest: Toronto Star baseball columnist Gregor Chisholm The trade deadline has passed and the Blue Jays were very busy indeed. After picking up right-hander Jameson Taillon and trading beloved starting pitcher Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, the Jays made four more trades on Monday's deadline day. They dealt away embattled former closer Jeff Hoffman and one-time MLB Defensive Player of the Year Daulton Varsho, along with left-hander Adam Macko and former top prospect Arjun Nimmala and they picked up potential all-star starter Jose Soriano, utility player Josh Smith and a whole bunch of very similar-looking young players, both pitchers and position players, plus one kid who stands out from the rest, a 20-year-old left-hander who throws 99 miles per hour named Dasan Hill. Gregor Chisholm and I break down the Jays' deadline and explain what they were trying to accomplish and how we think they did. We also take a dip into the mailbag at deepleftfield@thestar.ca!
Become a DIEHARD! alldlls.com/diehard The buzz did not match trade-deadline reality Monday with the Texas Rangers are the MLB trade deadline. They did next to nothing, trading away Josh Smith to Toronto for Adam Macko, a young left-handed pitcher. The Rangers had been informed by Jacob deGrom that he would not waive his no-trade protection, with the right-hander saying that he wants to win with the Rangers. That's why he signed and asked for no trades in the first place. The Rangers then went out and laid an egg against the Giants, losing 5-1. The Rangers committed five errors in their sixth straight loss, a bad look for a team that keeps saying it's good enough to win as is. As Netflix's Heartstopper comes to an end, after three seasons and now a movie, Josh revisits two of the greatest chats he has ever had on the podcast, with Kit Connor and Joe Locke, the lead actors at the heart of it all. Kit opens up about the phone call that changed everything, what it was like to film alongside Olivia Colman, and why he will never forget the fan who used his coming out scene to come out to their own parents. He also tells Josh why your sexuality belongs to you and nobody else. Joe and Josh discuss male body image and how eating disorders on screen are almost always shown from a dark and scary lens, and why Heartstopper dared to do it differently. Joe also tells Josh why he thinks Gen Z's willingness to talk openly about their feelings is one of the most important shifts of his lifetime. Together they are a reminder of everything this show set out to do and everything it delivered. She was a total nerd growing up, reading books about warrior cats and playing her DS. Now she's playing one of the most iconic characters in pop culture history. Lexi Minetree was handpicked by Reese Witherspoon from over 3,000 auditions to play Elle Woods in the new Legally Blonde series, and she has not looked back. In this chat with Josh, Lexi opens up about the acting teacher who told her she wasn't the actor he thought she was, and how it almost broke her. She talks about the voice memos Reese sent her when she was doubting herself, and why she deliberately does things that terrify her. She also tells Josh what it meant to work alongside James Van Der Beek in his final ever on-screen role, and why some of the throwbacks to 2001's Legally Blonde - like using a payphone - stopped her in her tracks. Plus she joins the group chat to answer your questions, including how long it took to get ready as Elle every day and why her most dreaded small talk topic right now is her own show. GAW Text Dear WLS or Reviews +1 743 500 2171 Public Show Titles GOA GOALS Aug 1-2 in Iowa. https://goals.goa.org/ DEAR WLS Question from DustyBob Hey guys, I have been listening long enough to remember when savage would bubba stuff together. Can that happen again? So the real question is what is the best non-AR semi auto rifle chambered in 5.56? Question from Scott H Greetings to the best gun podcast ever. My dad lives in another state and wants to pass down a gun to me. I can bring it back with me after visiting him and deal with the airlines. Have him ship it to an FFL by me. Or I can get a C & R license thru the ATF and he can ship it directly to me because the gun is over 50 years old and has collector value. What would you guys do? Question from AinYourFace This last year I have been playing (poor) with some night vision. Specifically a Sionyx Pro with a helmet mount setup (mono only). I mainly use it walking at night and stalk hunting pigs. I know there are better setups, but my question is more about aiming with night vision. I currently use a rifle mounted IR laser as my point of aim. It works, but is there a better sighting setup or are lasers the way to go when using some type of helmet mounted nods. #SSB #Finding myself agreeing with Jerambe too much these days Question from JoeMama I was a decent pistol shooter out to 25 yards with no issues and consistent. I went to the range after 6 months of no range time and I'm jerking the trigger and my groups have gotten horrible. I can't seem to shake these issues. What would be the best way to shake these bad habits that have popped up? Question from Matt A What's the casts thoughts on the company and model of AmmoSquared? When doing research on ammo, most instructors and even content creators say shoot and try the ammo you plan to use and carry, which I totally agree with. This is why I'm asking my question. With AmmoSquared, they stockpile different manufacturers' ammo for you based upon your selection of the type of ammo you want, such as “practice, practice special, defense, or defense special”, and among the inventory stockpiled for you, you could get a mixture of 124 grain, 115 grain, and some +p boxes of ammo, all from various manufacturers. I get in the situation of the SHTF, any ammo will be used ammo, especially if there were to be an ammo shortage, but still curious about the crew's thoughts because all the ads I've seen for the business make it sound like you pick the ammo you want and they just store it for you. Thanks for the feedback, love the show. Question from non anonymous brave person from oh Do you guys have any recommendations on a good backpack to combine EDC and work? I currently run two separate bags, one is my work bag with files, tablet, work supplies, and one is my murse that has my gun, first aid, phone chargers and whatnot. I would like to consolidate into one bag so I can carry my gun with me and so I don't look like I'm moving out every time I leave my house. My work bag isn't CCW friendly and I don't want to just toss the gun in there and my murse is too small to carry my work shit. So I need to combine the two into one bag that has some sort of concealed carry pocket I can secure the gun as well as hold my tablet and files. Do you have any hands on experience with Eberlestock or Vertx or any other brands in the similar category? I don't want to blindly drop a couple hundred on a bag and it potentially be the wrong one. Text us here! Hershall, we checked in with this year's Day Speaker at Central Oklahoma Youth Camp. You are never going to guess what he has planned for his part in preaching… he wants to be ushered into the Tabernacle in a unique way that could put a great liability on the campers. We had a great visit with hime where the boys (I think you know who they are by now, the carnal faction of the Pod'N Me personnel) gave some very strong advice on what to do whilst in the pulpit…. Since that is something they know best. In the end we had a great discussion and are exiting that Rev. Josh Smith is going to be our day speaker this year. After we talked to him we had some great tire talk. Enjoy! Founder and president of Montana Knife Company Josh Smith sits down with Mike to discuss his unlikely path from working as a lineman to becoming one of America's premier master bladesmiths. The conversation dives into the grit, craftsmanship, and obsession with quality that helped turn a small operation into one of the fastest-growing knife manufacturers in the country. The two also talk about the grand opening of MKC's brand-new 50,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Missoula, where Josh explains why controlling his supply chain matters now more than ever—and what "Made in America" actually requires behind the scenes. Along the way, Josh gives Mike an exclusive look at a brand-new blade that hasn't been released to the public yet. It's a conversation about work ethic, American manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and the sharp edge between tradition and innovation.
