Episode 3932: David Cain explores the psychology of procrastination and reveals a deceptively simple strategy for finally tackling the tasks we keep postponing. By “red-carpeting” tomorrow's most intimidating work, doing all the easy preparation in advance, you remove ambiguity, lower resistance, and make the hardest moment almost effortless. His approach reframes procrastination as something you can outmaneuver, turning dread into momentum. You must either do the task now, or admit that you're never going to do it.” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Blended families are beautiful—but they're also complex. When two lives, two histories, and often two sets of kids come together, figuring out what "family" looks like can feel overwhelming. From divided loyalties and differing parenting styles to navigating ex-spouses, finances, and faith, blended families face unique challenges that many couples aren't prepared for. In this episode, we're joined by Ron Deal, director of FamilyLife Blended and author of The Smart Stepfamily. Ron shares practical wisdom, biblical insight, and deep encouragement for couples navigating stepfamily life. We talk about earning influence before exercising authority, managing divided loyalties, setting realistic expectations, and protecting your marriage while building unity in your home. Whether you're part of a blended family or love someone who is, this conversation offers real hope, grace-filled guidance, and a reminder that healthy blended families are built over time—on purpose, and with God at the center. Episode Takeaways: Blended families are not repairs of biological families. Creating a blended family involves new rules and dynamics. Respect and communication are key. Quotes from this Episode: "You are not repairing a biological family structure. You are creating an entirely new blended family structure where the rules are different." -Ron Deal "To be a great co-parent, you need to act divorced—respect your boundaries, let go of control, and focus on parenting your own way."- Ron Deal "Stop pretending you have the right to influence your ex's choices. You can share your preferences respectfully, but after that, let go and parent your own way." - Ron Deal "Your spouse is the most important adult relationship in your life—honor that allegiance, but never abandon your children." - Ron Deal "You cannot demand love out of a child. That's something they decide on their time."- Ron Deal "If you support the stepparent in front of your kids, if you are a team member in the parenting system, then your blended family has a chance." -Ron Deal "You cannot have two parenting styles under one roof; blended families thrive when standards are more alike than different."- Ron Deal Questions to Talk Through: Where do we feel the most tension in our blended family right now—and how can we face it together instead of alone? What is one way we can better support each other when parenting, scheduling, or outside relationships feel overwhelming? What does "progress" look like for our family in this season, even if it doesn't look perfect yet? Mentioned in this Episode: Awesome Marriage is on Instagram! In this episode, we continue our Lenten book study on "The Way of Trust and Love" and focus on Chapter 1: A Completely New Way. We reflect on the "little way" of St. Thérèse, the invitation to become spiritual children before the Father, and how weakness becomes the very place where Christ comes to meet us. We also talk about the difference between being childish and childlike, why true maturity in faith begins with admitting our own poverty, and how small acts of courage open the door to deep healing. This week, we invite you to name the desires stirring in your heart and let the Holy Spirit awaken a new song within you. Heather's One Thing - Franciscan's Campus-wide "Behold" Retreat Sister Miriam's One Thing - Healing Wounds by Bishop Erik Varden Michelle's One Thing - The O' Grady's Beach House Michelle's Other One Thing - Emily Lex Watercolor Workbooks Journal Questions: How often do I accept the letter of God's adoption of me, and not the spirit of God's adoption? Where in my life do I need Mother Mary to smile upon me? How have I turned to self-reliance this Lent? Where is God inviting me to become more adult and free? What is the new song the Lord wants to put in my heart? Discussion Questions: When do you notice orphanhood in your heart? What are you learning from St. Therese this Lent? When have you experienced the healing delight of a mother? Is it difficult for you to name your desires? What is one desire God has placed on your heart this Lent? What is the "yes" God is asking you to make today? Quotes to Ponder: "You know, Mother, that I have always desired to be a saint, but alas, I have always realized, when I compared myself to the saints, that there is between them and me the same difference as exists between a mountain whose summit is lost in the skies, and the obscure grain of sand trodden underfoot by passers-by. Instead of getting discouraged, I said to myself: "God could not" "inspire us with desires that were unrealizable, so despite my littleness I can aspire to holiness. It is impossible for me to grow up, I must put up with myself as I am, with all my imperfections; but I want to find how to get to Heaven by a little way that is quite straight, quite short: a completely new little way." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux) "Each of us has an absolute need for an inner transformation that makes us "as little as a child." What that means and how to put it into practice are exactly what Thérèse teaches in a simple, luminous way. That is why she was proclaimed a Doctor—that is, a teacher—of the Church." (Father Jacques Philippe, The Way of Trust and Love, Page 6) "The heart of Christian life is to receive and welcome God's tenderness and goodness, the revelation of his merciful love, and to let oneself be transformed interiorly by that love." (Father Jacques Philippe, The Way of Trust and Love, Page 7) Scripture for Lectio: "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me." (2 Corinthians 12:9) Sponsor - Healed and Restored: Healed and Restored is a non-profit organization located in the Charlotte, NC area that was created in 2020 to fill a void and respond to a need that has been long overlooked in our society. A program that is 100% dedicated to helping women heal in the aftermath of abuse, assault, and other traumatic experiences. According to the United Nations, one in three girls and women around the world has been subjected to sexual and/or physical abuse at least once in their lives. Studies show that women who have been through abuse (of all types) have higher levels of fear, are more isolated, and face greater mental health problems. In the aftermath of any of these traumatic events, women will sometimes resort to hurting themselves through cutting, eating disorders, and addictions. Without proper care and healing, these dark cycles can persist for years. We help women and girls realize that God desires to heal every single one of His beloved children. We teach them that the enemy is a master manipulator. As soon as a person gets hurt, the devil begins to plant all kinds of lies in our hurting souls. Some of these lies are: God doesn't love you, everything that happened is your fault, you should be forever ashamed, and you will never find healing and peace. The Mission The Healed and Restored mission is to help women and girls who are survivors of abuse, assault, domestic violence, trafficking, and all other forms of trauma find healing and restoration. Grounded in Catholic teachings and through a combination of counseling, life coaching, intimate workshops, practical tools, spiritual mentoring, and community support we help women and girls transform pain into purpose— empowering them to not only survive, but thrive. Since 2020, Healed and Restored has helped over 500 women and girls on their journey to process their unhealed wounds. Never could we have predicted how much God would bless our mission in such a short period of time. All of this has us convinced that there are times when God uses our deepest pain to propel us on the path to our greatest calling! If you or someone you know could use the assistance of our trained and compassionate Catholic Therapists/Counselors and money is an issue, please do not hesitate to reach out to us by emailing info@healedandrestored.org for more information and guidance. Or if you feel called to be part of this mission by volunteering your time, we would love to hear from you. Together and guided by the Holy Spirit, we can make a difference in the life of those around us who are suffering. That was a harsh lesson.” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What if the restlessness you feel is not dissatisfaction, but development? In this episode, Dr. Bray explores the idea of creating your 2.0, the next intentional phase of your life. Not because you failed. Not because everything is falling apart. But because growth is calling you forward. Too many people wait for a crisis to change. Burnout. Layoffs. Health scares. But the signals usually whisper long before they shout. A quiet question. Is this it? Am I making the most of my life? Am I becoming who I am capable of becoming? Dr. Bray breaks down the neuroscience and psychology behind reinvention. Why your brain resists change. How financial stress impacts your ability to think long-term. Why stability is sometimes the first and most powerful version of 2.0. And how small weekly actions can quietly transform your trajectory. You will learn: Why 2.0 does not mean burning your life down How to build stability if you are in survival mode The psychological signs that you are ready for a new chapter A simple framework for designing your next phase If you have been sensing that something is shifting inside you, this podcast is for you and will help you understand why and what to do next. It is time to begin! Quotes by Dr. Bray "Clarity never comes before action. It comes from action." "Your 2.0 must be built around your values and strengths—not just your current role or circumstances." "Chronic stress narrows cognitive flexibility and impairs long-term planning." "Emotional agility is the bridge between who you were and who you are becoming."
In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the current state of the MBA admissions season. We continue to see several top MBA programs rolling out their Round 2 interview invites. A few MBA programs are also beginning their next admissions rounds, including UNC / Kenan Flagler, CMU / Tepper, SMU / Cox, Boston College / Carroll and Georgia Tech / Scheller. Graham highlighted upcoming MBA webinar events. On March 19, we are hosting a series of panel discussions focused on international students who are targeting the top MBA programs in the United States. On May 11, Clear Admit is hosting our in-person admissions event in Atlanta. Signups for these events are here: https://www.clearadmit.com/events Graham then highlighted a recently published article that focuses on Stanford's deferred enrolment program. Quotes for this article came from the recently hosted deferred enrolment webinar series. Graham then noted an admissions tip focused on background checks, undertaken post admissions. We then had a detailed discussion on London Business School's Class of 2025 career report. Finally, Graham discussed two additional podcast episodes, featuring SMU / Cox and Juno. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected two ApplyWire entries and one DecisionWire entry: This week's first MBA admissions candidate has a 4.0 GPA but is seeking a test waiver. We encourage them to take a test, if they are targeting the top MBA programs. This week's second MBA applicant has a very non-traditional profile overall, including diplomatic work in Moscow. They are also an older candidate, targeting top full-time MBA programs. This week's final MBA candidate is deciding between Columbia and Yale. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to all of you who've been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!

In a world full of distractions and pressure to perform, how do we keep our identity rooted in Christ instead of our work? In this episode, Dr. Kim sits down with long time friend, Terry Storch, to talk about leadership, stewardship, and the often unseen cost of carrying responsibility that affects others. From navigating pressure and seasons of life to holding the tension between efficiency and presence, this discussion explores where leadership ends and identity begins. Be encouraged to establish healthy rhythms, protect what's sacred, and remain centered on Christ—remembering that the work will come and go, expectations will shift, and seasons will change, but all glory belongs to Him. Episode Takeaways: The "work" of life was never meant to give you value. Only our Creator can do that. Accomplishments and achievements are driven by healthy rhythms. The technology advancements create unique pressures and require adaptability. Finding centeredness in a distracted world is essential for faith. Quotes from this Episode: "Life is a season of wilderness after wilderness because we're not in the garden yet." "I want to be known for the small little things that I did for those people right around me." "The need for centeredness, the need for Jesus, is more important now than ever." "Technology, for the most part, is neutral, like money. It can be used for really good things and really bad things." "The real story is the commitment to surrender and release, knowing it's not mine. Take a Wider Look: How do I define my identity beyond my accomplishments, and what steps can I take to focus more on who I am becoming? In what ways might I be allowing the distractions of the world to pull me away from my core values or spiritual focus? How can I separate my calling from my vocation, and what changes might I need to make to align my work with my deeper purpose?
