The accounts carry on through French novelist J.K. Huysmans waking in a monastery cell, a young man in Bakersfield, California, held down in his bed in December 2012 by something that laughed and cried out, "Soon!", and an anonymous man who says he prayed to Lilith for a succubus and got one.Next comes a checklist for men who suspect the woman they're living with is a succubus, from a girlfriend with no family at all to friends who can't explain why they hate her and the drained feeling that follows their nights together.The episode closes in Warrington, England, in the 1600s, where a woman known as Old Peggy Gronach settled at a ruined farm after slipping away from witch-hunters in Norwich, and children who crept up to her cottage saw a hair-covered creature with red eyes and horns at the window just before Peggy came screaming out the front door. Years later, rumor had it that a skeleton with the body of a four-legged animal and a human skull had turned up half-buried in a field nearby.

On today's episode, we take a look at Incubus history on the chart, starting from when they first charted with "Pardon Me" and all of their massive hits that charted in between including "Drive", "Wish You Were Here", "Anna Molly", and my personal favorite "Love Hurts". I also give you my memories of listening to them over the years, along with my experience when I checked them out in concert during their Morning View tour a couple of years ago. I also play for you one of their songs that never charted on the Modern Rock Tracks chart but is an excellent song in its own right, "Are You In?"

On today's all new episode, we take a look at the chart for the week ending Sept. 8, 2001 just before the 9/11 attacks, and take a look at what music was popular before our world changed forever shortly thereafter. I also give some interesting facts and tidbits with some of the 40 songs on the chart, including Jimmy Eat World changing the title of their just released "Bleed American" LP after the attacks, and Drowning Pool's "Bodies" disappearing from radio stations playlists understandably after the horrific attacks. I also play you a song that certainly uplifted lots of people's lives and spirits in the days that followed the attacks, Incubus and their brand new track at the time, "Wish You Were Here".

That's a $17.99 CD, my guy!   Who the hell knows what Macca was talking about in his 1986 semi-hit, “Press”. But we'll be damned if it isn't one of the best pure pop songs of the mid 80's. Much like the album from which it came, it's never gotten the love it's so obviously due. Until now, as Tony & T.J. freshly (?) assess side two of “Press To Play” with open arms (#Journey) and open eyes (#Incubus). Along the way, they ask (rather intuitively, if we do say so ourselves):  

This week we're taking on one of the weirdest horror movie misfires of the 80s. It's an explicable mess of a movie that statistically shouldn't have been a loser ad yet here we are. A series of brutal murders and rapes rocks a small New England town. The medical examiner, the chief of police, and a local newspaper reporter team up to solve the crimes but the evidence doesn't make any sense. Is this the work of a gang of people or one man? The latter seems to be the case but how could that even be possible given the loads and loads of evidence (that joke will make sense when you listen to the episode) left behind. In the end, shadows of the town's ugly past resurface and the perpetrator of these crimes may not even be human! Starring iconoclast and independent film mastermind John Cassavetes, Incubus sports a script written by Amityville Horror's Sandor Stern with heavy rewrites from Cassavetes himself. The remaining movie is a mystifying parade of the most deranged dialog you've ever heard. In any other case this is a forgettable piece of 80s horror garbage but the utterly insane chatter makes it a truly unique horror movie. Ben played guitar in The Roots in the early 2000's and bass in Incubus for 20 years before a health crisis forced him to recalibrate his life. We discuss how Ben, as a cat guy, came to add some dog energy into the home, the dogs of his New Jersey youth and how his animals comforted him while he recuperated from major surgery. The part of Josef  K was created by Paddy Fletcher, then studying at Brighton Art College. John says of Paddy, ‘He was the most extraordinary, inventive performer, and a wonderful creative collaborator. I had a clear vision of the kind of theatre I wanted to create but everyone else told me that it was impossible to stage a play where a human turns into an insect. Paddy's response was that if I didn't give him the part he would never speak to me again. He tried any and every distortion of his body to create Josef K: he brought to life Kafka's vision of a tormented creature paying the price for the sins of his family. This Metamorphosis was before Berkoff and before anyone used the term Physical Theatre.‘ Metamorphosis took the 1968 NUS/ Sunday Times drama festival by storm, was invited to the Oxford Playhouse, and then to a series of other London venues.
