Mary Elizabeth Parker returns to update listeners on the what's happening in the world of rare and undiagnosed diseases. She has spent time at NIH and with the leading researchers in the area of genetics and rare diseases. She will also update us on her organization U R Our Hope. Also, appearing on the show is Deanna who tell us her story of searching for a diagnosis.

This is their annual fundraiser celebrating all those who have worked hard to help families and individuals with rare and undiagnosed illnesess. This event is being held at Russell's Bistro in Austin, Texas. I will be speaking with board members, parents and supporters of this great organization. I know Mary Elizabeth Parker, Vanessa Garcia and many others will be stopping by to speak with me to give updates on any breakthroughs or NIH news. She is the co-founder and medical liaison for the not for profit organization, U R Our Hope. She has assisted many families In finding answers to their children's undiagnosed illnesses. She works full time at the Texas State University- San Marcos as well as a small home health clinic practice. Joining her, are two families directly impacted by a rare disease and their stories. This show will be speak to the journey of these families, the heartbreak, courage to find answers and the strength to keep going once a diagnosis is found. It will provide insight to the difficulty families face in seeking answers when few people will listen to their concerns. In her role as medical liaison for the national organization U R Our Hope, she has helped families find the answers to rare and undiagnosed ailments. She travels throughout the country, working with families and medical professionals. Her journey began at Duke University, where she received her degree in biological psychology and physical anthropology. From there, she went on to receive her masters degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia. She just recently finished her doctoral work in PT from Texas Women's University in differential diagnosis in pediatrics. In this show, we will be talking about the nitty- gritty of her work and how she and her organization helps families. She will be providing insight into this complicated world of finding answers for undiagnosed children.
