Dillon is percussionist, componist, studio eigenaar, producer, bandleider, docent, DJ en organisator. Oftewel: a jack of all trades. Dillon maakt deel uit van een zeer muzikale familie met zus Berget en broer Alvin als bekendste leden. Zijn vader was de eerste steelpan speler in Nederland en bracht de Caribische muziek als soca, dancehall en calypso naar ons land.In de podcast gaat het over het werk en de carrière van Dillon. Begonnen als breakdancer in de vroege jaren 80 had hij zijn eerste successen. Als muzikant scoorde hij zijn eerste top 40 hit met New Jack Style. Daarna werd hij de bandleider van Food For Funk, waarmee hij de bekende Soul Survivors avonden organiseerde in o.a. Panama en Paradiso.In zijn rijke carrière werkte hij o.a. met artiesten als Sister Sledge, Gloria Estefan, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Candy Dulfer, Robert Thicke, Ladies of Soul, Sheila E, Brainpower, Loïs Lane, Johnny Guitar Watson, Jaap Reesema en Shirma Rouse. We staan stil bij zijn zeer diverse carrière en met name bij de rol van bandleider en organisator. Muziek is er van Berget Lewis en van Dillon zelf. The other day I was watching the actual House Party movie and found myself jammin to every song they played.  I really miss the New Jack Swing era when Teddy Riley ruled the radio.  All of the songs during this time had so much energy and just made you wanna dance.  Also I think this era is probably the most overlooked era ever.  Even when they play old school skits on the radio you hardly hear any songs from this era except for the usual "motownphilly" and "poison."  So I felt like it was needed to pay tribute to all of the artists of this time period and pass it on to the younger generation.  Do your history.  Peace. *All Content On This Site For Promotional Use Only
