Welcome to Databank Brawl Rewind! Databank Brawl was a series that ran on ForceCenter from 2016 to 2020, and it remains one of our more beloved shows. Though Databank Brawl is on hiatus, we wanted to celebrate it along with longtime listeners of the podcast and reintroduce it to the ForceCenter listeners who began listening to the podcast after the end of the show's run. Though all of the episodes remain on our podcast feed, it can be daunting to scroll back and find them, so we're launching Databank Rewind. Here's your chance to go back to those episodes week by week and laugh with us at old jokes, memorable moments, unforgettable guests, and, yeah, old microphones, recordings, and perhaps some Star Wars predictions that came true alongside many that most certainly did not. Databank Brawl -- where Star Wars characters are plucked from the entries of the StarWars.com databank and forced to fight it out in an off-the-cuff podcast moderated by Joseph Scrimshaw. It's time to fight...From the minds of Ken Napzok (comedian, host of The Napzok Files), Joseph Scrimshaw (comedian, writer, director of Dead Media), and Jennifer Landa (actress, YouTuber, crafter, contributor on StarWars.com) comes the ForceCenter Podcast Feed. Here you will find a series of shows exploring, discussing, and celebrating everything about Star Wars. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. Whoa, Shuhei! We’ve got a lot to talk about. Stack it up! Join Tricky, Matt and Alex as they discuss, among other things, Ghost of Yotei, Resident Evil Requiem, Slay the Spire 2, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. What’s more, we focus on the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly games, and we ponder EA’s latest round of layoffs. Funny, we thought Battlefield 6 was doing well. Say what? The game has broken records? Oh. I guess EA just had to do a villain thing. It’s been more than 24 hours. And if you think that’s all, then you’ve got another thing coming! We hit the high notes, and we hit the low notes, but we’ll always bring the banter. What are you waiting for? Dive in! As always, the opinions fly fast and heavy! Look out for this super-sized show, as the seemingly smallest conversation veers off into a multiverse of chit-chat. Sounds cool, huh? That’s the fancy way of saying “derailment.” And there’s plenty of that to go around! Let’s dance, Heroes of the XMB! In a bit of big news that would make the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles proud, iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify host episodes of Trophy Whores. It's a tremendous honor for the show to be part of three massive and respected entertainment communities, and Proven Gamer have only the fans to thank for pushing the podcast to soaring heights. In "Real-World Supply Chain AI Applications with Gather AI's Sankalp Arora", Joe Lynch and Sankalp Arora, CEO and Co-founder at Gather AI, discuss how Gather AI's combination of drone-collected visual data, AI analysis, and WMS integration is revolutionizing warehouse inventory management. About Sankalp Arora Sankalp Arora is the CEO & Co-Founder of Gather AI. With 14 years of experience, Sankalp developed safety and sensor planning for the world's first safe autonomous helicopter, funded by DARPA, a project that won the Howard Hughes award, AUVSI Xcellence award and was nominated for the Collier Trophy. He is a recipient of the Qualcomm Innovation fellowship and Swartz Innovation fellowship and has a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University. Gather AI and Sankalp have received several awards, including CB Insights' AI 100, SupplyChainBrain's Great Supply Chain Partner Awards, Peerless Media's NextGen Supply Chain Awards, Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive Top Tech Startup Awards, and the Pittsburgh Inno Fire Awards. About Gather AI Gather AI is an intralogistics AI company which collects visual data from drones, forklifts, and connected machines, integrates it with warehouse management systems (WMS) and cloud platforms, and uses AI to identify issues and suggest next steps. Key Takeaways: Real-World Supply Chain AI Applications In "Real-World Supply Chain AI Applications with Gather AI's Sankalp Arora", Joe Lynch and Sankalp Arora, CEO and Co-founder at Gather AI, discuss how Gather AI's combination of drone-collected visual data, AI analysis, and WMS integration is revolutionizing warehouse inventory management. Bridging Robotics Expertise to Logistics: Sankalp Arora's foundational work in safety and sensor planning for autonomous helicopters (a DARPA-funded project) highlights how sophisticated robotics and computer vision expertise is now being directly applied to create reliable, "real-world" AI solutions for the supply chain. Visual Data is the New Inventory Input: Gather AI utilizes hardware like drones, forklifts, and connected machines to collect vast amounts of visual data within a warehouse, moving beyond manual counts and traditional scanning methods to capture inventory status comprehensively and automatically. Intralogistics Focus: The primary application of this AI is in intralogistics (operations inside the warehouse), specifically tackling challenges like inventory inaccuracy, cycle counting, and labor efficiency—common pain points for WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) users. From Data to Actionable Insights: The platform doesn't just collect data; its core value is using AI to identify specific issues (e.g., misplaced items, damaged inventory, out-of-stock locations) and then suggesting next steps, making the data immediately actionable for warehouse staff. Critical System Integration: For successful real-world adoption, the AI platform must integrate seamlessly with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and cloud platforms, ensuring the visual intelligence updates the enterprise system of record effectively. AI for Operational Efficiency: By automating data collection and analysis, the technology shifts labor away from tedious inventory tasks, allowing personnel to focus on high-value activities, leading to significant gains in operational efficiency and inventory accuracy. Industry Validation of Innovation: Recognition through awards like CB Insights' AI 100 and various Supply Chain Partner awards validates that Gather AI's approach is recognized as a leading, commercially viable, and impactful NextGen Supply Chain technology. Escape rooms let your family cooperate in new and interesting ways. But do you prefer a physical, in-person escape room, a video game, or a board game experience? 0:00:00 Fact for 418 HTTP code 418: “I’m a teapot” Sponsor Message If you want help planning for your kid’s college education, set up a time for a free 15-minute call by going to firstmovefinancial.com/familygamers. 0:05:00 What We’ve Been Playing Embers (our review)Lands of AmazementAspensVerdant Arizona 0:12:50 The Family Gamers Community We’re so happy to welcome new members! You can join the community on Facebook too. 0:13:30 #Backtalk You shared your purging regrets on Facebook and the #backtalk channel of the Discord. 0:19:25 Escape Rooms Physical escape rooms – we’ve done a few. Very cool but can feel high pressure. They’re great to do in a group, letting everybody work on different things. Doing it as a family is expensive! Video games are a much cheaper way to capture this style really well: Portal, The Room, Escape Academy Board Game “Escape Rooms” These range in size and playtime. Some are more puzzley, some are more narrative-driven. But any of them can be a great family experience. And we have reviewed a bunch of them – we’ll talk about six series here: EXIT series – Fairly immersive, with a plot and setting that hangs together. Everything you need is in the box. Wide variety of puzzles to write on, manipulate, cut, etc. But comes with a downside – that wide variety means you almost always run into a puzzle in the game that is not figure-out-able (for us). They come in a huge range of difficulty, including several that are appropriate to do with younger kids who are just barely reading. Unlike the other games in this list, we think they’re best with more than 2 players. There are also EXIT Kids games now! (Check out the EXIT games we’ve reviewed.) Unlock series – These require an app. Other than the app, completely card-based and re-settable to pass on to a friend to try. These also have a juvenile line now – Unlock Kids. Our experience has been really uneven. Some really great (Wizard of Oz, Star Wars). Others are just really weird, with puzzles don’t make sense. We generally recommend these, but use caution. Holiday Hijinks – probably our favorite compact escape-room type game. Packs a ton of puzzles into 18 cards and a web app. Full of puns, trivia, and holiday cultural references. Still best for very small groups, since there’s such a small space to work in. Family friendly, although younger kids will probably be frustrated that they don’t have the trivia knowledge to contribute unless they’re very knowledgeable about the holiday. (Check out our reviews and interviews about Holiday Hijinks.) Deckscape – feels like a “choose your own adventure” narrative. Mostly a deck of cards, but with a few accessories that made it more immersive. Puzzles could not be attempted more than once, which made the choices feel high-stakes. Best with 2-3 players, because you’re only looking at a few cards at a time – unless you’re willing to take your time and pass them around the table. (We reviewed Deckscape: The Mystery of El Dorado.) Backstories – not really an escape room, more of a narrative adventure. Work through decisions one at a time as a group. But not only re-settable, it’s replayable, with branching paths and different endings depending on the decisions made! Not exactly family-friendly. Lots of violence and some death. (Check out our Backstories reviews.) Star Trek: Cryptic – as Trek fans we really loved this one. Work through three different “chapters” in a Starfleet officer’s life, with very thematic puzzles. Pretty much re-settable, but you’ll get great value out of this one even if you only play it once – it takes 3-4 hours to do the whole thing, split into several sessions. Coded Chronicles (we reviewed Scooby Doo & The Goonies games) – also very narrative driven. But spreads out the responsibility to progress the narrative to all the players! There are multiple books to read in different character “voices”, even though the team is making decisions together. Also re-settable. Very family-friendly, even for kids who are unfamiliar with Scooby Doo or The Goonies. 0:42:00 New Backtalk Question Have you ever done an in-person escape room? If so, what did you think of it? This week's show raises a glass to temptation, trouble, and the long human tradition of drinking through it as Emmett Davenport and Lady Attercop guide you from medieval ballads to tavern songs and sea shanties. It's a spirited tour through whiskey, rum, regret, and the occasional moment of clarity at the bottom of the glass. WARNING! This show is for adults. We drink cocktails, have potty mouths and, at least, one of us was raised by wolves. The Clockwork Cabaret is a production of Agony Aunt Studios. Featuring that darling DJ Duo, Lady Attercop and Emmett Davenport. Our theme music is made especially for us by Kyle O'Door. This episode aired on Mad Wasp Radio, 03.15.26. And so concludes Starfleet Academy‘s freshman season. Every good Star Trek needs a courtroom legal drama, and this two-parter serves it up, putting Starfleet on trial for the sins of the past and pitting Paul Giamatti’s Nus Braka against Holly Hunter’s Nahla Ake. Our young cadets bring to bear all the strengths they’ve learned and demonstrated throughout the season, working better together than they ever have apart. Staci and Ken reflect on this satisfying conclusion which nonetheless had some outsized writing gaps and plot holes — a recurring trend throughout the season. But we felt the show had far more hits than misses while also serving as a strong entry point for newcomers to the franchise, leaving us eager for more. They analyzed the painting's composition, colors, and techniques, considering whether it was truly a self-portrait or perhaps a character study. Don Bertram shared insights as an artist and collector, while José and Ryan explored themes of transformation and creativity. They also briefly discussed the 2022 Hellraiser movie release and its special features. The conversation concluded with plans to vote on future art pieces to analyze. Summary Clive Barker Self-Portrait Discussion The group discussed a self-portrait painting by Clive Barker from 2007, which was selected through a listener vote. José provided context about the painting, including its size (60x48 inches), medium (oil on canvas), and exhibition history at the Bert Green Gallery. The painting sold for $8,000 and was described as a beautiful character portrait. The discussion concluded with José inviting the participants to share their analysis of the portrait's style and emotional impact, though specific reactions were not captured in the transcript. Clive Barker Self-Portrait Discussion Don and Ryan discussed a large self-portrait by Clive Barker, noting its similarities to his "Abarat" style and comparing it to earlier works. Don expressed a preference for Barker's more cerebral images over this illustrative piece, suggesting the large size (4 by 5 feet) might be intended to command attention rather than being a traditional self-portrait. José proposed that the size creates a sense of confrontation and demands engagement, while Don speculated that the piece might originally have been intended for a different character in the Abarat series before being repurposed as a self-portrait. Clive Barker Painting Analysis Discussion The group discussed a painting that appears to depict Clive Barker, with José arguing it's a self-portrait while Don suggested it might be a portrait of another character. José analyzed the artistic elements, describing the symmetrical composition and expressionistic style with bold brushstrokes and flames as an aura rather than a setting. The discussion included comparisons to other Barker works and references to specific book editions, with Don suggesting the painting might be used as a dust jacket or limited edition book cover. Clive Barker Painting Interpretation Discussion The group discussed a painting of Clive Barker, interpreting the fire surrounding him as representing transformation, danger, or creative intensity. José and Ryan connected this to Barker's recurring theme of characters being forged or transformed through proximity to powerful or high-stakes events, while remaining intact. They noted the painting's medium of oils, which allows for layers and revisions similar to how people build their self-identity, and expressed interest in seeing a higher quality image of the painting. Gallery Exhibition Art Discussion The group discussed a painting that was part of a gallery exhibition called "New Paintings and Works on Paper" in 2007. They clarified that the $8,000 price listed on Phil and Sarah's website represents the original asking price rather than a confirmed sale price. José shared his screen to show other paintings from the same exhibition, including "She Waits" and "Voices of the Damned," which was possibly related to Barbie Wilde's book. The discussion also touched on other works by Aberet, including some black and white pieces and drawings. Clive Barker Self-Portrait Analysis The group discussed a self-portrait painting by Clive Barker, examining its artistic techniques and comparing it to other Barker self-portraits. They analyzed specific elements like the use of color, eye details, and the symbolic representation of a monster inside the artist's head. The conversation concluded with a brief discussion about the Hellraiser 2022 Blu-ray release, including its special features and the inclusion of one of Barker's paintings in the film, though it was covered with plastic and barely visible. AI Summary (News) Quick recap Ryan and José recorded episode 527 of their Clive Barker podcast, focusing on recent news updates about Hellraiser-related projects. They discussed a new developer diary for the Hellraiser Revival video game, which showed promising gameplay mechanics and featured Doug Bradley's voice work as the Hellpriest. The hosts also covered Hellraiser Bloodline's 30th anniversary celebrations and Gary J. Tunnicliffe's reflections on working on the film. They examined a new YouTube series by composer Chris Velasco, noted an upcoming 4K release of Nightbreed from Arrow Films, and discussed Brian Fuller's announcement of a potential new TV series collaboration with Clive Barker. The episode concluded with plans for future content including an upcoming discussion about Clive Barker's self-portrait with Don Bertram. Summary Hellraiser 30th Anniversary Updates José and Ryan discussed updates related to the 30th anniversary of Bloodline and Hellraiser, including a new TV series collaboration between Brian Fuller and Clive Barker. They also reviewed a developer diary for the Hellraiser Revival game, noting its 6-minute length and content featuring Doug Bradley. José expressed concerns about the game's marketing as "very explicit" and questioned the focus on explicit content versus storytelling. Hellraiser Game Development Discussion José and Ryan discussed a Hellraiser game and its development, focusing on the challenges of depicting violence and sex in the game while staying true to the franchise's lore. José expressed optimism about the game's potential, noting the strong story and powerful narrative. They also discussed finding a specific social media post about the game and planned to continue their conversation later. Clive Barker Podcast News Episode Ryan and José discussed comments on a social media post about a game, with José noting the significant engagement it received. They shared experiences with previous games, including "Agony" and "Hellraiser," with both expressing disappointment in their quality. The conversation then transitioned to preparing for recording the 527th episode of the Clive Barker Podcast, which would be a news episode. Hellraiser Game and Film Discussion Ryan and José discussed the Hellraiser Revival game, including a recent developer diary featuring Doug Bradley. They expressed excitement about the game's mechanics and graphics but noted the lack of a confirmed release date, speculating it might be around Halloween. The conversation also touched on the 30th anniversary of Hellraiser Bloodline and included reflections from Gary J. Tunercliffe about the film's impact and his experiences working on it. They debated criticisms of the Hulu Hellraiser movie, particularly regarding the Cenobites' threat level and story elements. Hellraiser Franchise and Podcast Discussion José and Ryan discussed the Hellraiser franchise, including criticism of certain characters and the recent anniversary of Hellraiser Bloodline. They also talked about supporting Chris Velasco's new YouTube content, though Ryan noted it's not a traditional podcast since it lacks an RSS feed. The conversation concluded with a discussion about the advantages of audio podcasts over video content for convenience and accessibility. Nightbreed 4K Release Plans Ryan and José discussed the upcoming 4K release of Nightbreed by Arrow Films on May 25th, 2026, which will include both the theatrical and director's cuts in Ultra HD. They noted that while the director's cut was originally scanned in HD, the 4K release will feature new content including a feature-length documentary and interviews with critics. Ryan also shared news from Screen Rant about Brian Fuller working on a new TV series with Clive Barker, though details about the project are still unknown. Film Projects and Podcast Plans Ryan and José discussed various film and television projects, including a potential Mick Garris and Clive Barker collaboration titled "Theater of Blood." They also talked about their podcast content, including an upcoming episode about the Hellraiser 2022 Ultra HD Blu-ray release and a future discussion about Clive Barker's character portraits with Don Bertram. The conversation touched on the challenges of keeping track of all announced projects and the disappointment when some don't materialize.

Before embarking on my street performing tour of the U.S., one aspect I said I would investigate on the road was how influencial setting is for creating music. Admittedly, this question was buried under piles of other questions that surfaced during my earlier stops, D.C., Nashville, Asheville and Atlanta. But that changed once I arrived in New Orleans. Music and culture ' especially along Royal Street ' ooze from NOLA's pores, pumping through its streets as if the heart of all music can be found somewhere within the veins of the French Quarter. It is New Orleans, after all, that mothered music greats ranging from Louis Armstrong and Fats Domino to Lil Wayne. And that variety is not accidental ' it's part of NOLA's appeal. On one street you may walk into an impromptu jazz ensemble performance, complete with an upright bass, saxophone player and a singer throwing out some hot scats. Five blocks down, you could stumble upon a high-energy brass group filled with trumpets, trombones and a tuba. Not to mention the multiple solo acts scattered throughout NOLA's streets at all hours of the day and night. One factor that makes NOLA an ideal street performing city is the layout. The Quarter's tight streets, filled with sheltered sidewalks due to the vast amounts of layered decks, create a rich acoustic experience for buskers. The sound stays contained from having a ceiling of sorts, which then bounces off the parallel building in full circle. This week in Louisiana history. March 13, 1815. Gen. Andrew Jackson declares the end of martial law in New Orleans at the end of War of 1812. This week in New Orleans history. The City Park property was famous as a dueling ground long before it was a park ' more Affaires d'honneur were fought in New Orleans than in any other American city. They resulted from serious affronts, petty insults, or deliberate confrontations for the sole purpose of displaying fencing skills. Weapons of choice included swords, sabers, pistols, rifles, even bare hands. During the 1800s a series of duels were fought between fencing masters ' the most famous, Spaniard Pepe Llula was known as a duelist who met any man with any weapon. Times-Democrat on March 13, 1892, reported, "Between 1834 and 1844 scarcely a day passed without duels being fought at the Oaks'. Dueling had been outlawed two years before under the death penalty (if a death resulted) but it was seldom enforced. This week in Louisiana. Mike Pesca is one of our very favorite guests — on any number of topics. His book, Upon Further Review: The Greatest What-Ifs in Sports History, is a whole series of earth-shattering, hypothetical, what-if questions (and posited answers to said earth-shattering, hypothetical, what-if questions): What if a blimp full of money had exploded over world track headquarters in 1952? What if Nixon had been good at football? What if Bobby Fischer had received proper psychiatric help? What if the Dodgers hadn’t left Brooklyn? What if basketball rims were smaller than basketballs? What if the 1999 U.S. women’s national soccer team had lost the Women’s World Cup? And yes: What if the Olympics had never dropped tug of war? It goes on and on. Pesca joins us for the hour.
