What does it take to build one of the world's top-rated social media management platforms—without a single dollar of outside funding? This week on On Brand, Emeric Ernoult, founder and CEO of Agorapulse, shares how he bootstrapped the company to over $20 million in revenue, pioneered ROI-tracking tools for social, and carved out a powerful niche in a crowded market. We talk scaling smart, making social media actually measurable, and where attribution is headed next. What You'll Learn How Agorapulse bootstrapped its way to $20M+ in revenue without outside funding Why most startups chasing VC money miss what matters most for sustainable growth How attribution has evolved—and why measuring ROI on social is harder than ever The three ways marketers can actually track what's working (and what's not) Why the future isn't social media—it's “interest media” Episode Chapters (00:00) Intro (00:45) Bootstrapping Agorapulse the Hard Way (03:40) The Realities of Going Without Funding (07:20) Reinventing Through Growth and Churn (08:50) From Social Media to Interest Media (10:20) Why Attribution Is Broken (17:50) Three Ways to Track ROI That Actually Work (23:20) How Brands Can Win at Interest Media (29:00) The Brand That Made Emeric Smile About Emeric Ernoult Emeric Ernoult is the founder and CEO of Agorapulse, one of the world's top-rated social media management platforms. Bootstrapped from the ground up, Agorapulse has grown to more than $20 million in annual revenue—without taking a single dollar of outside funding. A pioneer in ROI-tracking for social media, Emeric has built his career around helping brands not just manage their social presence, but measure its real business impact. He's a frequent speaker and writer on marketing measurement, leadership, and scaling companies the sustainable way. What Brand Has Made Emeric Smile Recently? Emeric shared that Alex Hormozi—the entrepreneur and content creator—made him smile recently. After attending Hormozi's workshop in Las Vegas, Emeric was struck by his unfiltered mix of humor and humility. Hormozi's perspective—that we're all small in the grand scheme of things, so we might as well do good and enjoy the work—resonated deeply, especially after Emeric's trip to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park reminded him of life's scale and simplicity. In today's episode, I'm speaking with fantasy author and podcaster Richie Billing about his novel, Together We Rise. We had a great conversation about writing, the creative process, fantasy worlds, and even the use of generative AI in music. Together We Rise is a multilayered story of a revolution that takes place in a fantasy world - maybe the equivalent of something that might have occurred in the 1700s in Europe - there are some factories and all the issues that go with those, but science and other aspects of technology are still in a more medieval age. The story is told from multiple different characters, each with a small role to play in how the revolution takes place, and sometimes the characters overlap, allowing you to see them from fresh eyes, since each chapter is essentially a different point of view. Together We Rise wastes no time getting you in the thick of the action! Richie also used the AI tool Udio to create a theme for each character which you can listen to at the start of each chapter while reading that sets the tone for the pages ahead. You can find all the tracks here on Soundcloud and Youtube. If you are a writer yourself, please check out Richie's podcast, The Fantasy Writer's Toolshed, which has a wealth of information to help you get started, stay inspired, and fine tune your craft!Learn more about Richie's work on:-Patreon-Facebook-Instagram-Buy Together We Rise on Amazon and other booksellers. Thanks, Richie, for being a guest on the show, and thanks for listening!∞∞∞∞∞∞∞Once Upon a Dream, the second Thirteenth Hour soundtrack, is now out in digital form and on CD! Welcome to Databank Brawl Rewind! Databank Brawl was a series that ran on ForceCenter from 2016 to 2020, and it remains one of our more beloved shows. Though Databank Brawl is on hiatus, we wanted to celebrate it along with longtime listeners of the podcast and reintroduce it to the ForceCenter listeners who began listening to the podcast after the end of the show's run. Though all of the episodes remain on our podcast feed, it can be daunting to scroll back and find them, so we're launching Databank Rewind. Here's your chance to go back to those episodes week by week and laugh with us at old jokes, memorable moments, unforgettable guests, and, yeah, old microphones, recordings, and perhaps some Star Wars predictions that came true alongside many that most certainly did not. Databank Brawl -- where Star Wars characters are plucked from the entries of the StarWars.com databank and forced to fight it out in an off-the-cuff podcast moderated by Joseph Scrimshaw. It's time to fight...From the minds of Ken Napzok (comedian, host of The Napzok Files), Joseph Scrimshaw (comedian, writer, director of Dead Media), and Jennifer Landa (actress, YouTuber, crafter, contributor on StarWars.com) comes the ForceCenter Podcast Feed. This week we are joined by designer Krista West of Avlea Folk Embroidery (avleafolkembroidery.com). But we're not talking (much) about her designs. Our focus for this conversation is Krista's design weeks, which are periodic multi-day sessions in which she shuts the world out so she can focus on moving her design work forward. While Krista sets aside entire weeks, the techniques and practices she uses will work for stitchers who are looking for a day/afternoon/couple of hours of uninterrupted/focused needlework time. In the conversation, we learn how Krista prepares for a session and how she stays focused for several days. At the end of the show, you'll also get a peek at some of the new things coming up from Avlea Folk Embroidery. Make some notes while you're listening and give Krista's techniques a try the next time you want to focus on your needlework, or any other project that's not getting enough attention.—Beth and Gary Listen to the podcast: Watch the video You can listen by using the player above or you can subscribe to Fiber Talk through iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify, Audible, Google Podcasts, TuneIn, Podbay, and Podbean. Why do we dance? The answer is more complicated than you might think. Dancing has served a multitude of functions for various cultures throughout history, and there is even evidence to suggest that we, as a species, are biologically hard-wired to dance. Whether it’s for social, spiritual, or even psychological reasons (yes, dance therapy is a thing), humans have been dancing since the very beginning.
