John 21 | It is time to preach our last sermon in the book of John. #64 of 64! Join us as we celebrate the conclusion of our epic journey through the Gospel of John with sermon #64 of 64! This series has been a source of profound ministry and healing during one of the toughest 18 months of my life. God's Word has served as both a balm for open wounds and a springboard for celebration. Let's come together and let it do its work one last time!
John 21 | In the final interaction between the risen Jesus and his disciples that John records for us, we find that Jesus prioritizes helping Peter follow him so that he might care for the budding Jesus movement that is sure to ensue. What is lovely about this conversation is that we quickly discover that this interaction isn't just for those who would be church leaders. Still, it encapsulates gospel truths for anyone looking to follow Jesus. Who is the gospel for? What does it do? Where does it lead?
John 21:1-14 | What does the epilogue of John's Gospel teach us? When we throw the nets on the other side of the boat, what are we really saying?
John 21 | Join us for our highly anticipated FULL launch this Sunday!
Passage: John 20:24-31 // We've all heard of history's most famous nickname "Doubting Thomas" ... but what if we are missing the real point of this skeptics opportunity? What if his doubt is perfectly normal, and he should really be remembered for something else? Also, for 9+ years we have considered Jesus in one way or another in the building at 4401 2nd AVE NE Seattle in Wallingford. God has been good to us here, we've grown up as a church, we endured a pandemic, we've seen transitions aplenty. This Sunday marks our final service in this space and so we will remember all the blessings of these last 9 years. Next Stop Ballard! 2004 NW 63rd street, Seattle. But never forget, church never has been a building, never will be a building, but its a people gathered under the banner of Christ and his Cross & Resurrection. * CONNECT CARD -- https://siderischurch.com/connectcard * OTHER GOSPEL RESOURCES -- https://siderischurch.com/resources
John 20:19-29 | The “Peace of Christ” hits us all in different ways, but it does hit us all. In fact, this is the primary way we know that we have had a true encounter with the one true living God, who made himself known to the world in the person of Jesus Christ. We saw his peace minister to Mary Magdalene’s sorrow and despair last week, and this week, we will see Christ’s peace minister to the fear of the ten disciples and the doubt of Thomas. God’s Peace always arrives with Christ’s resurrection presence. Start considering when and how the peace of God tends to minister to you… and know that this means the presence of Christ is there, too, by the powerful witness of His Holy Spirit.

John 20:11-18 | This Sunday (and the following few), we get to explore and study the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave during Sunday worship. Perhaps seeing the resurrection without the distractions of the holiday will bring light and life in a whole new way.

John 20:1-10 | We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, where we will consider the BURIAL of Jesus Christ. What is John hoping we take away from this? Spoiler? He wants to help you become a BOLD and HUMBLE follower. A strange mixture that we find paradoxically present in Jesus' followers.
John 19:28-42 | On this day, we remember, recognize, and celebrate that because of the sacrifice and death of some others, we experienced more and new life. This reality should, of course, remind all Christians of the cross, where the ultimate sacrifice changed death and life once and for all. This Sunday, we will serendipitously be studying the cross once again in our continuing series on the Gospel of John.
John 19:17-27 | Bring your finest sleuthing skills as we will be Sherlock-ing the cross scene to see all the details that John leaves behind for us to discover the fullness and richness of the Lord's saving sacrifice.
John 19:1-16 | This week, we get to look into the public and private conversation between Jesus and the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate... When Pilate asks Jesus the question "What is Truth?", can you tell in what way his question is flawed?

John 18:12-27 | This Sunday that step takes us into the courtyard and house of the High Priest of the Hebrews. As Jesus is inside answering questions, we find Peter outside in the courtyard dodging questions. If you've been a Christian for any amount of time, you're probably familiar with this account of Peter in the courtyard. It resonates with us doesn't it? But what exactly is John hoping we take away from it? *hint: he's NOT trying to shame Peter or those who might find themselves denying Jesus!
John 18:1-14 | If you don't know why you should STOP negotiating with Satan, this sermon might help. #keanuReeves #speed #hostagerescue #itisfinished
John 17:19-31 | The Gospel of John has been such a treat. We're so encouraged by God's incredible love for the Son on display in this work that we see that overflowing to his disciples that, in turn, overflows to the world around them, cascading down each generation to find it's resting place in us as we look to pass it along to the next. It is such a privilege to be a conduit for THIS love and to experience the blessing of it in the ways that we love one another on in the midst of an onlooking world. That's what our 3rd installment of Jesus' prayer after the Last supper is all about (John 17:20-26). If you missed part 1 or part 2, you still have plenty of time to catch up, you will want the basis of Dave's past 2 sermons to most fully grasp how Jesus closes this prayer when he specifically prays for YOU!
John 17:6-19 | Over the last few years, we’ve made the Sunday after Easter a remembrance of the final act of the gospel story, The Ascension. Jesus came, he lived, he died, he rose from the grave, and then ascended into the heavenly places to sit at the Father’s right hand as all things are put under his feet. This is an essential last Act to remember and reflect upon. So, we will do that this Sunday within the flow of our John series. So, if you want to read ahead, we will focus on the middle section of Jesus’ high prayer in John 17:6-19. This is a beautiful intercessor prayer that our Lord prays over the 11 Disciples and in connection over us. I can’t wait to unpack it and see what riches we find buried inside.
John 17 | This Easter Sunday - how do we look up to God in prayer?
What is a human life? Is it a piece of temporary art? Does this art transcend the cold hard facts of its brevity? Is there a worthy art critic who judges and explains to the masses why one piece of art is hung in a place of prominence in the gallery of antiquity and another is not?
Listen to ALL Sideris sermons going back to the inception of our community in 2015. We hope this podcast helps you "look up" again and we want to celebrate you for taking the time to do what humans can uniquely do: "consider the transcendent"
John 16:12-15 | Did Jesus us give us any hint that he would continue to teach even after he was gone?
John 16:8 | I must admit that when I first read this week’s passage, I was confused and lost in understanding what Jesus was trying to communicate to his disciples. However, upon further study, the richness of this promise unveiled itself to me, and now this might be one of my favorite passages of Scripture that I’ve recently studied. Join us this Sunday to find out more!

John 15:18 - 16:4 | Our next passage is in John: "If the world hates you..." Why is Jesus telling his disciples this? Who is the world? And why is it so upset anyway?

John 15:9-17 | In this passage, Jesus reveals his love for his disciples and emphasizes the power of love, obedience, and intimate connection with him. Jesus referred to his disciples as friends, highlighting the profound relationship he seeks with each of us as His followers today, and uncovering the purpose he assigns to his followers: to bear fruit and experience the joy of abiding in him.

John 15 | What does abiding in Christ actually mean? What fruit are his followers supposed to produce anyway? Fresh considerations of those subjects and more are fresh on tap for us, thanks to Jesus' beloved disciple, John.

John 14:15 | This week we will look at the introduction of "The Paraclete." What, who, or how is this? Jesus will inform his disciples (us included) that HE must depart this world, but to not fret because he is going to send the paraclete to us. So that's exciting... if we know what that means.

John 14:12...| Raise your hand if you have ever been frustrated by prayer. God doesn’t seem to be answering my prayers! Did God take the day, the week, the year, the decade off? Am I even loved by God? Does God hear anything I’m asking? Maybe he’s impatient to act in this world?

John 14:1-11 | This is the beginning of Jesus’ pre-arrest farewell speech and the part where he famously declares that He alone is THE Way… THE Truth… and THE Life.
